QUOTE(The Humble One @ Dec 16 2012, 04:23 AM) Dear all Masters in da forum.... I am inside PET ady for 2 weeks.. but plan to switch compeni. But my 92k bond is worrying me. May I get some insights from all the sifus, gurus; say for instance, the worst case... PET asked me to pay lump sum and dismiss my application to pay installments.... wut wud be the % and limit of borrowing from banks in M'sia???Hw long wud be the max payment yrs den???? & if I appeal, hw much chances I wud get permission to pay in installments?? Thanxxxx....... Unless the outside offer is much much higher, I don't see the economic sense in doing this. The bond is there for a reason and that reason is exactly why you're in this situation. A personal loan of 92K will set you back how much a month? Let's not forget the interest rate of at least 10% per annum so if you were to do this for 3 years, you are looking at a total loan of 120K to be paid in 36 months which makes it RM3300 a month. So unless you are getting close to 8K from your new job, I wouldn't encourage you to take a personal loan. I've advised many people to stick with it at least until your bond is close to completion. IIANM, it's a 7 year bond right? I'm not sure if Petronas now pro-rates the bond amount taking into consideration your years of service. I was short 3 months so I paid the 7400 ringgit for the 3 months and during my time, the amount was pro-rated which I believe is still the policy. There is no reason to have a housing loan without having a house. This post has been edited by azraeil: Dec 16 2012, 06:19 PM

Hi guys, what happen if they detect certain health issues (high bp, etc) during medical checkup? Will they still honor the job offer? Because during that time I would've already resigned from the current company. Thanks.

QUOTE(pandikar @ Jan 8 2013, 02:54 PM) They will still accept you. Don't worry. Thanks bro. I had a Technical Assessment and SI both on the same day as they need somebody for the position urgently. Came out exhausted but overall satisfied (I've done better with Shell though). They're kind of look warily when they see my expected salary. Anyone has any idea what to expect of Petronas' offer of a 10-year experience in geoscience? Without factoring my current salary as I know they sometimes offer lower than current as if the have their own scale to refer. This post has been edited by aiman04: Jan 9 2013, 08:23 AM

If this is true,I wonder how Petronas attract or retain their technical staff Unless I'm looking at S. Aramco and such, that range is acceptable for me. A senior of mine with 15 years of experience only managed to get 25k and she's a direct hire (permanent would be much lower). So 15-20k is reasonable for me if it's a permanent position in our own NOC. I've been with service companies long enough now I'm looking to settle down. Believe it or not last year Shell only offered me 12k and asked me to relocate to Miri. Didn't think long to reject that. This post has been edited by aiman04: Jan 9 2013, 06:21 PM

QUOTE(memphisto @ Dec 16 2012, 11:39 AM) Only 2 weeks in petronas, already wanna quit. Unless the next company u wanna join is paying you a high salary for you to workout your personal loan installment to payback petronas. If not, I don't see your point of leaving and get into debt Just my 2 cents Totally agree with you

I am not sure the exact amount. Could be higher. One thing for sure, contract staff earns much2 higher. e3 would get 80k.

I believe the starting salary for E3 is around 12K for Staff geologist. I'm still contemplating an offer from a company in Miri (have to relocate there), basic salary is a bit small (30K) but the signing on and retention package is interesting (approx. 560K) ... Miri is going to be a problem though.

Actually I'm fine even with 10% increment from my current, just trying my luck. I'm quite happy just to finally be in Petronas. The SM that interviewed me said they need to fill up this position very urgently, to an extent that they did both TA & SI in one afternoon. But HR just call me yesterday that the offer letter will only be ready a month from now, I guess HR understands the word "urgent" differently.

My brother passed his SI & TA and he's been waiting close to a month for the Medical Check-up letter. Yes, I understand that December is when people usually take leave but don't kid yourself la .... mana ada Petronas bagi cuti more than 2 weeks to their permanent staff. Bottom line is they are lazy and another excuse is to compile all the 3 months application and do it in bulk ...... typical HR.

hi guys. I'm in big4 aiming to get into Petronas soon.
Not really fond of what im doing now, but I wonder if I leave after 1 year, and enter petronas, how much will they offer me?
That day I emailed their HR, and got a reply telling me to stay in big4 for 3 years first. Heck, regardless of whatever benefit their trying to reap, I don't think i am obligated as i never signed anything with them.
However, HR said they will wait for my SI results, of which, they haven't set since 4 months I got in contact with them.
Anyway, in the event going thru this 'cable' thing doesn't work, i think I'm just gonna go thru the general way, applying like a fresh grad.. them knowing that I'm working in Big4 had made my situation a lot harder now.
