2 choices: i5 or Ryzen 5. If your "editing" includes video editing then Ryzen 5 with more cores & threads will certainly benefit you more.

GTX1070/1080/1080Ti/Titan XP/Xp are recommended to pair with i7, i5 bottlenecks them unfortunately in some CPU demanding titles.

And about the monitor, IPS with 6ms ok for you? Your budget is a bit hard to fit a 1440p gaming monitor except the Dell S2417DG (but I heard there are some pixel inversion issues in the early batch, need to check properly before purchase).

Intel Core i7 7700 - RM 1421
Gigabyte H270-HD3 - RM 519
G.SKill Aegis 16GB (8GB x 2) DDR4 2400MHz RAM - RM 550
Gigabyte GTX1070 8GB GDDR5 G1 Gaming - RM 2099
Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD - RM 464
Seagate Barracuda 1TB HDD - RM 219
EVGA SuperNova 550 G2 - RM 459
TP-LINK ARCHER T9E AC1900 PCIe WiFi Dual Band - RM 206
Dell UltraSharp U2715H IPS - RM 2089

Total: RM 8026 (ETECH price inclusive of GST)

Can, Ryzen is having a much lower price tag per core/thread count to beat Intel's pricing after all.

AMD Ryzen 5 1600 (6C12T 3.4G/3.6G) - RM 1019
ASRock AB350 Pro4 - RM 469 (ATX)
MSI B350M Gaming Pro - RM 435 (mATX)
Corsair 16GB (8GB x 2) DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 550

Total up will be around 2k (price from Techview).

If you do not plan to overclock, both are about the same.
So pick which features/design of the motherboard that you like smile.gif
Check Lelong too.. Plenty of sellers selling ryzen 5..

Guys can you recommend one desktop setup for just general use purpose (excel, accounting system, youtube, internet browsing etc). Setup excludes monitor, softwares. Also, no GPU is required since it is for general use only.

Pricing of what I had in mind
Casing : RM180
CPU : Ryzen 5 1400 RM800
MOBO (A320) : RM250
PSU : RM180
DVD: RM60
HDD (1TB): RM200

Any suggestion of which brand or any other better alternatives to get, thanks!

Ryzen 5 1400 doesn't have IGP. In this case, get Pentium G4560 platform. With the extra money, you can get a SSD.

All the Ryzen lineup doesn't have an Intergrated Graphics Processor? Is it still good to go back to an I5 setup in this case considering the Ryzen good price to performance ratio?

Gigabyte Z270X Gaming K5 - 899
GSkill 3000C16 TRIDENT Z RGB (16GB) - 753
Gigabyte GTX 1080 8GB DDR5 G1 Gaming - 2899

Yeah, Acer XB241H is RM1999. You can go value RAM to save you around 200, 1TB hard disk will cut additional 100. There might be cheaper RGB case but I suggest you go to the shop and ask for suggestions.

I forgot about speakers. Do you prefer 2 or 4 speakers?

4 would be better... biggrin.gif
Since I like the sound louder, that's why I didn't pick headphone.
