Which benefit me most in terms of all round since I'm doing editing and gaming at the same time? hmm.gif

ATX one comes with more RAM slots, SATA ports, PCIe slots, USB ports etc but you need to make sure your casing supports ATX mobo first before you make the purchase.

Rig Upgrade
[Budget] RM1k-1.5k can make to 2k if worth

[Purpose] Gaming & Streaming maybe minor editing

[Hardwares that will be re-use]
GPU (for now la waiting for Vega/Polaris 20), Storage, Case, KBM & maybe PSU n RAM

[Monitor resolution] 1080p60fps

[Games & softwares that use frequently] Overwatch, BF1 & a few other AAA title

[Personal preferences]best bang for buck. I dont mind playing at mid-low setting

[Location] Shah Alam

current rig is
i3 3220
B75M-DGS
RX460 4GB
8GB
250GB(S) + 1TB(H)
Hexa 500w (should I change it? cos is 4 years already)
Case I forget  sweat.gif is like a mid tower I think. I can put like 5 extra slot for PCIE things.

should I upgrade to i7 3770/2600 or change to Ryzen 5?  hmm.gif
*
If you want to save money then i7 3770 is a better option, Ryzen 5 path requires a whole CPU platform upgrade (increase the total budget needed).

thanks, seems ETECH price is pretty competitive hmm.

is wireless AC needed for TIME? can save with N900 TPLINK TL-WDN4800 instead? only 1 PC using wifi mostly..

also is 25" U2515H (AH-IPS)2560x1440/8ms (RM1339) good?
*
It depends on which package and router you are using, for example, if you are using 300Mbps and you want to get full 300Mbps download and upload on WiFi then you need a capable adapter (assuming your router is able to output 300Mbps via its WiFi, AC1900 standard).

U2515H is fine, I haven't tried 1440p on 25" display yet though but scaling is likely needed, if not everything will be very small and Windows is known to have awful scaling experience.

Hi guys, one question. Since rx 580 is around the corner and it got me thinking.
Is rx 480 8gb better buy than rx 580 4gb as both of their prices are almost identical.
Higher base clock of rx 580 4gb vs higher memory of rx 480 8gb

Usage : dual monitor and gaming on 1080 144hz

It depends on the actual performance of the card, can't really judge it by just looking at the figure of the leaked benchmark and result at the moment.

VRAM isn't everything also, 4GB is quite a lot for 1080p gaming (except some big titles with ultra texture pack), RX580 4GB should be able to beat RX480 8GB easily when VRAM is not the deciding factor.

Is CM690 compatible? Actually I am planning to change my casing also cause just the casing alone is already almost 5kg. sad.gif

Trying to find something really compact as my room shrink into small place and the casing is taking much of the space! cry.gif

Yes, CM690 is an ATX case which is able to fit ATX and mATX mobo.

You can re-use everything actually, i5 3470 is still a very capable CPU to run latest titles.

Apacer Panther SSD 240GB - RM319

Is this setup ok to run 1080p at 60fps on full setting on AA games? What can I cut to lower the budget and still get 60fps? Thx sifu2 for the advice. I won't be overcloking also.

Hard to guarantee 100% 60 FPS on full settings but I would say high chance you are able to do that but bear in mind that there are some advance settings like Nvidia GameWorks tweaks that can significantly bring down the performance of the game, just make sure your "full settings" do not include them because they aren't easy to handle, even with a super high end GPU.

SSD is not a requirement to get 60 FPS so you may remove that if you want to save cost for now.

note that 1060 has 2 variants, 3 and 6GB. which variant is that you have listed? 6GB can guarantee full setting and >60fps on most games due to higher cuda cores and vram than the 3GB.

RX580 is not even out yet, it is hard to recommend without knowing the actual pricing and performance.

How about these?

AMD Ryzen 7 1700 - 1599
MSI B350M Mortar - 480
Corsair 8GB DDR4-2133 x2 - 520
MSI GTX 1060 6GB DDR5 T OC - 1300
Samsung 850 Pro 256GB - 636
Super Flower Leadex Gold 550W - 429
Corsair Spec (pick your model) case - 299

RM5263 total (C-Zone prices)

Optional:
Transcend 370 512GB - 975
Seagate 2TB - 313

Hunt for cheap office and windows from lelong and garage sales. I still advise not getting full SSD because it is not budget friendly.

hi tristanx, first off thanks for your recommendation.

i have researched on ryzen 7 vs i7k and decided to go for i7k due to better single threaded performance. Ryzen 7 is good for those apps designed to run multithreaded like video editing etc. So we have settled the CPU part.

Meanwhile, you can give me a close comparison or why u suggest MSI B350M Mortar, Corsair 8GB DDR4 and MSI GTX 1060 6GB DDR5? It always my focus to "get all the spec info" and find the "best bang for bucks" from it. I do not mind to buy from czone if you are from czone, if you understand what i mean.

for monitor, lets skip for now as i still have no idea which to go.

Like you said, best bang for the buck. And I'm not from C-Zone. Please visit manufacturer's website for more details.
