Just read the first page and last 20 pages but still blur

Recommended brand is minix and himedia

2gb ram + 16gb rom as minimum

Other than these 2 criteria , totally don't understand other technical specs

What I want is a tv box that can watch asterruk by just paying once upfront.

also don't understand why is there big diff in price for the same spec

e.g.
X96 S905X (2GB ram + 16GB) Quad core : only rm185
HiMedia Q10 Pro (2gb+16gb) : RM599 rclxub.gif

Those box you want one time payment to watch xtro which is illegal.
So wont be discussed open here. blink.gif

X96 which is rooted OEM box, while Himedia is branded box, thats goes to the difference of price.
and for both box also not able to let you watch xtro unless you also need to subscribe to those iptv (illegal)

Yes is better than those OEM rooted Android box indeed! rclxms.gif If you have no budget consideration, go with it.
or you can consider Mibox International Version which also original Android TV OS, which is cheaper.

Mibox running on Android OS. Google Play is original built in.
But make sure you buy the Global/International version, not the China version ya.

I'm switching from Unifi to TIME, so I don't have access to HyppTv anymore.

Need second opinion between Evpad and Ubox.

I heard Evpad is laggy but have 2gb ram compared to Ubox 1gb ram. Ubox, on the other hand, is smooth but some channels cannot be accessed.

I'm looking for a TV Box:
1) Must not lag
2) Must not consume too much bandwidth
3) Have to at least offer the local channels
4) No monthly/ annual fee
5) Durable
6) Budget: RM500 or below

Please advise.

TLDR: First find the service to sub ehem content from and then seek a box within your budget to watch with. Google is your friend to find such services...

You got the first part right about minimum specs and preferred brands.. Good, you did do some reading and I applaud you for that. Now unto your direct question about pay once upfront.. Such do exist but as you've been told, we try not to discuss about such.. But then, if I may ask, If there was an illegal restaurant that asked you to only pay them once and they'll feed you for life. Would you believe them and they'd offer good food and be around long enough? Especially if legal shops charge say RM200 per month.. But this illegal shop asked you to pay just RM500 or even lesser and they'll feed you for life. Of course, you'd say that's BS.. Cuz one, they are an illegal shop, which means can get raided anytime and or simply close up shop for the luls.. not a perfect analogy but kinda paints the picture..

About why there's a big difference in price. Think cars or smartphones.. All from super cheap to super expensive can perform core tasks. Just that some come with better specs, support and or maintenance. Same thing with Android OS powered boxes. Branded manufacturers such as Nvidia, Wetek, HiMedia, Xiaomi, Minix, Zidoo, Beelink, etc.. they stand by their products and provide varying degrees of support over the lifetime of the boxes...or provide a more stable FW & better build quality. Hence the added costs. Take the Nvidia Shield for example.. It can cost anywhere from RM8xx to over RM1K, and despite many boxes released after it, It is still regarded as the benchmark to beat and king of all boxes. Though I wouldn't advise getting it for just ehem IPTV reasons.. That's like buying an F1 car to drive 5 KM to and from from work every day.. laugh.gif Will it make you happy? Sure, but it's a waste of its abilities. So here's the thing, If IPTV is your only concern.. Many boxes out there can handle most ehem services out there and quite well. Issue then would be how well the box performs in other aspects as well, should you need them.. Then there's WiFi/Ethernet performance to think of, how cool do they run? durability, stable firmware ,etc.. Which is why the more popular boxes are more recommended as buying them, you at least don't have to worry about these issue I listed. Cuz they work fine.. I.e. Nvidia Shield, Minix Neo U9-H, HiMedia Q10 Pro, MeCool M8S Pro L with voice remote... to name a few.

I would skip both boxes.. As tempting as their offers may seem.. It's always best to buy your own battle tested hardware and just install a compatible IPTV apk on it.. Or run it through Kodi's PVR & EPG addons.. You get much better performance and stability that way.

Thanks for your reply.

I'm not sure about what is meant by battle tested hardware..

And, my TV is old-fashioned one, not smart TV or android TV or etc.

I will search abit about IPTV apk..

By battle tested, I meant devices that some of us in here own. Been using for long and or for various purposes. I did give some examples.

See, now you mentioned about your TV type. Unless you plan to upgrade the TV soon, pairing a Shield is definitely overkill for that TV and your needs. Cheapest I'd recommend would be the Mecool. Yup, do search for the service first. Some allow free trial and others do not cuz they are either very good or just want to run with money. Either way, know that any monies paid is considered moneyflies.gif moneyflies.gif .. Ain't coming back. So try to sub for a month max.. test and if okay? then extend.. Else, just forget and pay for another service. rinse repeat until you find a suitable one.
