I'm switching from Unifi to TIME, so I don't have access to HyppTv anymore.

Need second opinion between Evpad and Ubox.

I heard Evpad is laggy but have 2gb ram compared to Ubox 1gb ram. Ubox, on the other hand, is smooth but some channels cannot be accessed.

I'm looking for a TV Box:
1) Must not lag
2) Must not consume too much bandwidth
3) Have to at least offer the local channels
4) No monthly/ annual fee
5) Durable
6) Budget: RM500 or below

Please advise.

I would skip both boxes.. As tempting as their offers may seem.. It's always best to buy your own battle tested hardware and just install a compatible IPTV apk on it.. Or run it through Kodi's PVR & EPG addons.. You get much better performance and stability that way.

Thanks for your reply.

I'm not sure about what is meant by battle tested hardware..

And, my TV is old-fashioned one, not smart TV or android TV or etc.

I will search abit about IPTV apk..

By battle tested, I meant devices that some of us in here own. Been using for long and or for various purposes. I did give some examples.

See, now you mentioned about your TV type. Unless you plan to upgrade the TV soon, pairing a Shield is definitely overkill for that TV and your needs. Cheapest I'd recommend would be the Mecool. Yup, do search for the service first. Some allow free trial and others do not cuz they are either very good or just want to run with money. Either way, know that any monies paid is considered  moneyflies.gif  moneyflies.gif .. Ain't coming back. So try to sub for a month max.. test and if okay? then extend.. Else, just forget and pay for another service. rinse repeat until you find a suitable one.

Hi sir, thanks for your reply.

I have searched some models, i.e. Mi Box S, Mecool M8s Pro L, T95Z Plus and Tx3.

These are the ones that are rm300 and below.

CPU, RAM and storage wise, M8s Pro L and T95Z are the victors.

Now I am in a dilemma on which one I should go for.. Do you have any advice?

MI Box S if and only if you want Netflix FHD. It's a certified box and can go up to UHD (if no issues).. But if not keen about Netflix and prefer a more functional or apps friendly box? Definitely go for the Mecool M8S Pro L or its successor the KM9. It's great to have a budget, but don't fixated too much on it. Cuz IMO, better to spend slightly more and get something that works now, all the time and is future proof. Than to buy a box just cuz it's cheapest, only to suffer AND later buy the more expensive one to get what you want done. Don't forget to set aside money to buy a separate keyboard + touch pad/airmouse combo. You'll need that for some apps that require touchscreen input. You are welcome.

Gotcha, thanks!
By comparing mi box s and km9, what will I lose if I opt for mi box s? My guess is there are not much channels offered by mi box s?

Hi guys, I'm here to look for a tvbox that can at least offer our local Malaysian channel, i.e ntv7, 8tv, etc.

Other channels are nice to have but local channels are of my top priority.

Kindly recommend me some reliable tvbox based on the above criteria. Thanks.

Hi @voncrane, I want to know which one you will recommend between Mi Box S and KM3?

Although Netflix is not of my top priority, is the extra RM140+ worth the upgrade in specs from 2gb to 4gb?

The KM3 is better than the KM9... Don't let the numbers confuse..  smile.gif
Hmm.. Hard to tell at this point as I don't personally own the device. As such will have to rely on other owners feedback... Perhaps later, I'll skim around and report back.

Thanks a lot! Btw, I did some searches on the specs of KM3 and KM9 Pro, in the OTA section (shown in the screenshot), it indicates "not Support Firmware(Bugs) Upgrade". Should I be worried about this? Is this the only tvbox that does not support firmware upgrade?

Hello there. I'm planning to purchase mecool km3, but knowing that all Mecool devices don't support OTA update, what is the workaround? Anyone, by any chance, has come across Mecool devices and updated the firmware before?
