Will likely try the method this weekend and hope the house don't burn down

House burn down also, that's what fire insurance is for..JK... it should be okay.. At most, it'll become a hard brick. If no refund eligible, can use as door stopper.. tongue.gif

We did.. Couple posts back. Don't think anyone here has hands-on it yet. The specs does seem good. Perhaps, you can grab it and leave a review.

A bit disappointed with Beelink as no more FW update since a year ago.

But we'll see if my impulse buying mood, kicked in soon.

MECOOL KM9 Android TV Voice Remote Amlogic S905X2 A8.1 4/32 Dual Wifi Fast lan BT4.1

Mecool KM9 is the latest TV-Box that comes with the new SoC of Amlogic S905X2, a chip that we hope to review soon and that promises a good jump to the graphic and video level compared to the previous generation. This new TV-Box takes us with a fairly complete configuration with 4GB of RAM and the typical microphone control, which in theory will let us search by voice. The operating system is Android 8.1 although for this SoC an update to the new Android P is expected soon.

SoC, RAM and storage
The Mecool KM9 includes as engine the SoC of AMlogic S905X2 a new Quad Core that theoretically reaches up to 2 GHz and integrates a new and powerful GPU Mali-G31 MP2, as a novelty in video playback we have a new VPU with Amlogic Video Engine (AVE) that integrates specific hardware to encode and decode h.265 and VP9 codecs. We have 4 GB of DDR4 RAM and 32 GB of eMMc storage memory that can be extended from the microSD card reader that includes this equipment on one side. rclxms.gif

Other specifications
The Mecool KM9 TV-Box includes Wifi dual-band AC and Bluetooth 4.1. The connectors included in the plastic box are not many since we only have one USB 2.0 port, another USB 3.0 rclxms.gif , analog audio and video port, a 10/100 Ethernet connector and an HDMI 2.1 video output with 4K @ 60fps support with dynamic HDR and HDCP 2.2.

Price and availability
The new Mecool KM9 TV-Box can be purchased at Gearbest.com or Banggood.com for USD$69.99 (61.6€) including free shipping.

Interesting reply.. Though, I'd still hold off till sufficient real world reviews reveal this to be true..Especially as the KM8 which is widely advertised as a Google certified device, has been confirmed by GB as doesn't support Netflix FHD and above. Screen-grab from Q&A..

Possibly because the base FW they build on is pre-rooted.

I'd agree to hold on till further update surface concerning this box. If it truly support Netflix Prime in uhd then I might invest in another Mecool since I've got some credit and points to burn.

Yeah it is stable. But outdated android version.
Tho I won't recommend that brand to anyone else. (Just my own opinion)
Somehow, the price and capability of the box not really a good match.

I seriously doubt that KM9 box will support Netflix 4k.
Youtube 4k might has some hope.

Those 4K capability come with a pricey license, and at that price point, I doubt the box able to afford it.

Tho it indeed would be awesome if it is real.

True and the license has to be installed with special hardware before being sold or device brought back to manufacturer for updating. It cannot be included with an OTA update in future. So either a device has it or it doesn't. biggrin.gif

There's a "Smart YouTube" app? No need until that, at least with most new devices today. Even the older Minix Neo U1 can output YouTube video @ 4K using the regular app or Kodi addon. Pretty sure this new Mecool KM9 will be capable of the same, perhaps even HDR too..without resorting to hacks.

Thanks for the heads up. Had to re-register as they aren't using old forum backup. thumbup.gif

Also for those who still can't access the setting app on the Minix Neo U1? Aparently, the contacts app received and updated that broke things. Try this, open Play Store and uninstall the updates done to the Contacts app. Make sure to disable autoupdates so it doesn't update itself again. You can perform manual updates of other apps as when needed. Report if this fix works for you.

I had the problem and I wasn't aware of this fix, but a couple of days ago I applied all available updates from the Play Store and now I can access the settings again. I'm using Minix U1 FW on a Beelink. I can't remember offhand if the contacts app was one of those that got updated.
