QUOTE(tharmaraj @ Oct 30 2018, 09:29 AM)
Thanks everyone to feedback on my queries; Basically I'm looking for Unrooted box to play the following:
1. AOTG
2. playtv@Unifi
3. KODI
4. Preferably can play 4K Videos because this is the trend now.
*
Finally you help me to ask the queries..
I'm also finding for the box tv..

Unrooted box for us is good if we have Unifi and astro account.
Else, we wasted to pay tv subscriptions especially unifi playtv..

QUOTE(KIntos @ Oct 30 2018, 10:48 AM)
Depend on your budget.

Tanix Tx3 max meet your requirement especially unrooted box. Spec wise it can support 4k but depending on source and 4k tv.

I using it and confirmed can use kodi and playtv@unifi. Aotg didnt install since i dont have axtro acc and dont have 4k tv.
*
I also do some research for TX3, but so far it's 2GB RAM and 16GB storage only.
Not sure can last longer more than 4 or 5 years or not.. unsure.gif Now the more latest versions, the file size more bigger and more drain the RAM.

By the way search for H96max 4GB ram and 64GB storage, saw some of the forumer mentioned that unifi playtv not support.. Haizz... cry.gif

im previous minix u9h user. i can confirm all those is supported on minix.  other than that , im not sure.
*
The price of minix make me fainted.. doh.gif
It's too beyond the target already.. Just a bit disadvantages the RAM is not so strong..

QUOTE(voncrane @ Oct 30 2018, 11:43 AM)
Minix Neo U1 or better Neo U9-H ticks all the boxes. Want HDR support amongst others? Get the Neo U9-H.. Else Neo U1 is good enough. Can handle both 4K HDR and SDR.. Except of course, the HDR is ignored.

Alternatively, look at Mecool M8S Pro L or the more recent one.. But can't 100% guarantee it'll all be well. Plus you might have to unroot or mask root yourself.
Offered earlier.. He says too pricey.
*
I saw some of the box tv can root and also can unroot back.. Is it true? unsure.gif

Not me want to buy la.. But yeah, I get you.. Been a Minix fan, owned 3 of their boxes over the years.. Always upgrading to each flagship and they've never disappointed. Well, except on the Android TV OS and Netflix FHD support. Hopefully, their next flagship will be such... brows.gif

True, compared to others.. Minix boxes do command a pricier tag. But unlike Apple products (don't lynch me pls), Minix actually makes solid performers to justify the prices. So it's really a matter of one's willingness to cough up more, for that extra performance and peace of mind. Same with the Nvidia Shield TV Box.. Pricier but for its performance, one knows they won't go wrong. As for RAM "not so strong"... 2GB is more than enough for even the most demanding media application or game. Remember, this is Android here and it's all about how the fw handles RAM management and not the size. Bigger isn't always better! icon_idea.gif

Yes, some boxes can be rooted and unrooted at will. Minix come unrooted. But you can root it or unroot. Others, let you toggle settings to switch between rooted and otherwise. While some can install Magisksu, which allows root hiding/masking.

For me, I'm more focusing on storage and RAM performance.. Internal storage around 16GB is enough for me already, some-more can insert TF/micro SD card support and can move the apps which is not need everything dump in internal storage.

But for RAM is the most important, knowing that the Android drain of RAM if install and launch lot of TV apps unless it's apple TV (Sorry, I less eat apple.. blush.gif )

I always though that watching 4K resolutions, at least need higher RAM and GPU.. Am I say correct? 2GB ram for me might be last longer around 2 or 3 years, then need to change the device again.

For boxes, I won't be play games but more in entertainment. Any suggesting for boxes model number or name for rooted and unrooted anytime? (Don't ask me to google it by myself.. I do a lot of research but getting more complicated.. rclxub.gif ) I just find the boxes not so high price and unroot boxes.. But if can root and unroot boxes anytime with not so extremely high price, that is ok at least I can do some homework for it.. thumbup.gif

Yes, playing h.265 4K, etc videos does require a capable CPU and GPU combo.. However, it's also vital that the firmware is solid enough and able to tap into its hardware and manage resources properly. So Android at its core does not simply drain ram unnecessarily. It's either the firmware is shit or the user installed poorly developed apps that then eat up resources. Again, the importance of buying a good box. Anyways, I believe I've said enough. I've also recommended a few devices, with pros and cons. Up to you to decide if you want to buy one box and use for years without much worry or simply go after a super cheaper one and roll the dice. icon_rolleyes.gif

If you were thinking andriod box can last you 4-5 years with tight budget. I guess you will end up cant get what you want. No one can quarrantee 2-3 years down the road what will happen on tv box. I bet you should go for apple tv with netflix, youtube and imovie can last you 3 years minimum.

You can always buy h96max with 4gb ram since it meet your budget but i can foresee you will complaint the box later on after couple of months usage and few update. Things will go haywire. As of now 2gb/16gb rom with good firmware support is sufficient for 4k usage and current usage. For how long it will last im really dont know.

Tanix remote can use as mouse just without the scroll function. I add additional wireless mouse for scroll and moving.

Aotg cant be install since my selection is on rooted now. I can always switch between root or unroot in this tanix tx3 max. Just i dont feel like watching aotg since i dont have account.

Only iflix unable to get free login with unifi ip address. My tablet is still on free iflix from unifi.

Since your tablet is still able to access iFlix for free... Register an account using it and the app will auto-link your sub to that account. Then you can now login elsewhere using the same account. Expiry date will remain same.

Since u guys are talking about iflix..any idea why my iflix account expiry date keep extending by itself? I'm not complaining but I still can't figure it out.

I have never paid a cent for its subscription nor use any code. I'm on digi infinite & minix u9h by the way.
