3080 10GB no longer sufficient for 4k gaming. Upgrade the GPU first.

That's what i thought as well.
What prove me otherwise on upgrading CPU is the performance benchmark from techpower-up which shows not much gain average and only few specified title has good gains on it.

I also planning to upgrade maybe to 9800X3D/9900X3D.. probably sell off my 4090 this month and wait for the 5090..

Instead of them bundling 9800x3d with a mobo, do you think they would entertain those who want the newest x3d with a 5090? laugh.gif

Also, 9800X3D prices will not budge anytime soon. Shortage. On top of that, Intel has nothing to counter for at least 10 months. Hope Intel pulls rabbit out of the hat next year. TSMC has no competition and price will increase.

If you wants 4K gaming, upgrade your GPU will be more practical.

Unlikely, bundle deals are usually from brands ie AMD, so they would push for AMD CPU with AMD based mobo. Even bundling with AMD GPU is rare.

skeptical on how well the 5090 performs in 4k.
if its going to be bottlenecking like 4090, cpu upgrade not a good choice.

same here, selling mine too but after confirming i wouldnt need to upgrade a psu.

How are you guys doing with the boot time on AM5?

It's been a year and I still can't get used to the random memory training (memory context enabled).

about 20secs from cold, windows fast boot disabled.

the system still runs memory training occasionally. doesn't bother me at all.

I am quite impressed with the Ryzen 9800X3D, when it comes to its power consumption and temperature during gaming.

Gaming dont really stress the CPU as much as you might think unless theres CPU bottleneck. Try Cinebench for 30mins run and check back. Or better yet Prime95 to really know how much you can push it.

Not necessary, my PC is for gaming purposes only, as long as it is much better than my 13900K & 13700K i’m happy already.

over stress / extreme overclock can burn the cpu..

Running CPU to 100% isnt overstress or OCing at all and wont harm CPU. If its true, new server & workstations would have died every week dy.
As long as cooling is sufficient to keep CPU from hitting TJMAX and voltage & power limits are within spec (no 13/14Gen shenanigan), there are no moving parts inside for it to fail.

Yes, it is 4000D. I'm using with the filter installed. If no filter, the dust will be much worse.

Like my PC in my room which is a dust magnet, even with builtin filter smaller dust particles still collects inside due to other holes ie PCIE slot covers. So what I did is add more front filters and filter mesh cover the other holes around

dust should not enter at pcie slot covers.
u need to have positive air pressure in the case. all intake must be filtered. the air from the front must be strong enough to be pushed all the way to the back, coming out from pcie slot covers.

test all openings with a tissue. if the tissue sticks, you need to stronger fan intake.
