My first build after 20 years. My last build was in the Athlon AYHJA & swiftech era biggrin.gif

user posted image

Ryzen 7600 non-X (rm8xx)
Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 SE (rm12x)
Thermalright TL-S12 fans
AsRock B650 Pro RS (rm9xx)
Acer Predator Pallas II 6000 2x16 (rm4xx)
Kingston KC3000 1TB (rm2xx)
Corsair 4000D (rm300)
FSP Hydro-G 750W Full Modular (rm4xx)

all items were purchased online (shopee) with discounts during sales.

only part missing is the GPU.. might go with either 7900 GRE/4070 Super/4070 Ti Super.

initially planned to go for 7800X3D, but Ryzen 9000 is just around the corner so decided to shave about RM700 and will use it on a better gpu instead. 7600 is fast enough for gaming.

PC boots up fast and fine out of the box, mostly default settings except for EXPO on RAM (will optimize later).

My only regret is I didn't buy 2TB KC3000 when the price was like RM400++ bangwall.gif

Gutted that ATX3.1 psu appeared a few days after I got the FSP, but no biggie since FSP bundled in 12vhpwr native cable.

So why AM5?
this rig is intended for 90% gaming. prices after discount are not much diff compared to AM4 build. good efficiency too.
i have a quadro & i7 workstation for works, so i wanted something new and different.

Whats your budget for GPU? 1TB SSD is fine if its only for gaming use, and if you can focus to finish a few games at a time and then uninstalling to load in new games. But yea 2TB will tide you much longer if your the lazy kind to uninstall.
*
i haved used 1tb before and got filled up quickly. not a problem though i do believe deals for 2TB will come (and go) haha.

on gpu, i'm ok to spend around rm4k. i don't build pc so often so looking for a good gpu with long warranty. also eyeing miniLED 1440p moniter in the future brows.gif

Erm nope. Sorry to burst your bubble but it aint coming down anytime soon

https://www.techspot.com/article/2835-ssd-pricing-q2-2024/

For your GPU budget; its between 4070 TI S (almost said tits) and 7900 XT (the previously unloved but now much loved 2nd child)

Depending on what games you play and how you like your sauces, their about the same

deals will come and go. some shops will give good discount vouchers. i'm a bargain hunter lol.

the 7900 XT is tasty, but radeon pricing in malaysia is cacat one.. cheapest (with discount) i saw is around 4.1k for nitro+ vapor (not Pulse!). can get 4070 ti super lower than that.

thanks...yeah... i think ill go for 7800... but was thinking on b series mobo... currently using 5600x with x570 tomahawk wifi..dont see any benefits except on paper... fyi i run mostly on stock
*
b series good enough d. a lot of good boards can support 7800x3d, just pick based on your requirements.. for example, if you need usb 3.2 gen2x2 on the front I/O, not all boards provide this, mostly at the rear. also, mATX tend to fall short on specs.. the good ones are ATX.

Radeon pricing is coz AMD Msia smoking really strong stuff, in USA and other First Worlds Radeons are priced one tier below Geforce so they give more value with faster raster but slower RT. Here Radeons are equal priced so there is really no reason to get one unless you hate Nvidia or the Geforce model you wanted is out of stock.
*
Scooped a gigabutt 4070 ti super gaming oc for rm4k. Usually this model is 4.6k. Can get cheaper Palit GamingPro at 3.6k but decided to get a card with 4yrs warranty and a factory sag bracket.

I'm ok with either camp, but my regular game performs better with nvidia.

Build is now complete. Running a modest curve optimizer -30 on the cpu and stock gpu settings. Temps, noise and performance are great.

Anyone can recommend me a good motherboard (RM 1.5k max) that has 4 Nvme slots? My current PC has 3x 2TB PCI Gen 4 and 1x 1TB Gen 3.
Will be pairing this with 7800x3d
*
You'll need feature-rich X670E chipset mobo. ASRock X670E steel legend or Pro RS are good but maybe a bit more than your budget so look for deals during sale.

Edit: my mistake, you can actuallly get X670 non-E to have multiple m.2 slots.

Nice buy, where did you get that deal?

Also very good looking setup but Im glad I dont have a Corsair case. It grinds my gears to see their nameprint is opposite direction of everything else in my system, the mobo wording & CPU cooler wording.
*
got it from lazada. they threw a discount similar to the monthly sales (6.6/7.7) but only to participating shops. big-tickets items with big discounts are found in lazada compared to shopee.

case is very personal imho. initially I wanted Antec P20C but eventually settled for 4000d. I know it's kind of boring as every kid, uncle and auntie owns this case but at RM300, it suits my budget and the airflow is very good for my build. The slightly tinted glass is also quite tasteful.

rclxs0.gif a lot of intel fansi here rclxs0.gif anyway.. 9000 series launch delayed by 2 weeks.

i'm looking forward for the 9700x variant. but based on malaysian pricing, the price is probably close to 9800X3D.

Can't deny the market share of intel cpus.. plus the stigma of amd being the 'lesser' brand. I have both intel and amd cpus. One for work, one for gaming. The efficiency of 7600 is just too good.

so pricing is not far off from 7000 series. but knowing malaysian market, price will be higher despite being 'made in malaysia'

If 9000X3D gonna be 3% faster but with 24% more costlier price than 7000X3D you might as well keep the current CPU!  :lol2:

Just about every review has the same verdict: its a flop. Plus the memory compatibility issues is prolly why its launch got delayed.

SkatterBencher on 9700X

but anyway I'll see whats B850 mobo with new AGESA code offers the performance as well

but if urgent to build can opt for the 7000 series

-ahem2- and my 2 cents

this guy is underrated. very technical in-depth for ryzen OC.
for most people, recommend to settle with PBO + CO only to get the best out of the chip.

You mean 7600X rite? USA MSRP there is a $20 difference between both launch MSRP.
*
ya ya my bad it was a typo. meant to say 7600x. knowing malaysia price is all over the place. i do remember the 7600x is around rm1.3~1.4k and gradually goes down over time.

probably next week, in-line with the global launch. expect the price to be around rm2k-2.2k at launch. i'd wait at least 3 months.

This is really interesting 9800x3d. what if the power is cap to be similar to 7800x3d, how will it perform in gaming?

*
in gaming, 9800x3d appears to consume less power than 7800x3d. weird in a good way

https://wccftech.com/review/amd-ryzen-7-980...e-cpu-review/7/

9800x3d runs good at stock settings, no need to use PBO & CO.

i'll buy one next year.
