well gaming and downloading games I've never even been remotely close to 90C when I tested the 5900x... are you sure your pump is working properly?
or if you have a proper sensor... what's your flowrate?

his CPU PPT is 130W eventhough at 30% load, dont think it's a pump issue, feels more like a power plan related.

Facing a issue just now, even my CPU usage is less than 50%, the clock of active cores and CPU VID is pumping like crazy causing max temp 90C.

encounter CPU Temperature Overheat Error when gaming FFXIV and downloading steam games.
Once I pausedĀ  Steam download, the temperature immediate drop to normal.

1st time came across downloading games can make the CPU constant 90CĀ  sweat.gif
MAX VID at 1.5V for all cores is really scary. anyway I can reduce max VID for all cores? previously adjust PBO but with negative value.

Note-this setup is running 2x 360 radiator with 4 intake x 3 outflow fan running @ 1.7k rpm.
*GPU temp remain <40C while CPU remain 90C

Both Arctic Cooling Liquid Freezer II 360 and Corsair H150i Elite Capellix never hit 90C. Check your thermal paste and parts. Standard thermal paste application like rice grain and pea size on Zen 2 and Zen 3 does not work properly. You will need more than that because there are multiple chips spread around the IHS.

Thermal paste using spread method due to the reason you mention. using Arctic mx-5. i try to screw tighter the CPU WB. i'm sure the CPU block is 100% secure. i'm going to reset the bios/PBO see and try to stress this CPU.

From this, it doesnt look like mounting or cooler problem. It's the CPU boosting to 130w ppt problem. look at tristanx's only at 45W ppt. Restart PC also doesnt solve it?

you probably kena the same problem as my ryzen. boosting to 4ghz all core 80C+ just with foobar without CPU load. Baru cakap jer then someone kena the boosting bug sweat.gif

i'll need to reset the CPU block again then. good experience to understand the behavior of this new build.
one thing i regret. normal reservoir > water distribution block sweat.gif

resetting bios to default now has a much normal behavior. but i agree my temp has def smth wrong there.

You might wanna update BIOS and drivers as well. My current BIOS comes with AGESA 1.2.0.2 .

Read the current, not the max. Your current is 130w his current is only at 40w when downloading on steam. Yeah... make sure the bios is up to date, if updated and still like this, maybe reinstall steam. If still doesnt work, wait for next bios or chipset drivers. That's all you can do sweat.gif

update the bios as suggested, then enter your own power limits PPT, TDC, EDC (142, 105, 140) as your board increased them and then report back.

That's the AMD default sai86. It's thanks to reviewers 'comparing boards with the same cpu for benchmarks' without pointing out what happens that manufacturers and especially marketing divisions don't bother sticking to AMD default limits anymore with their out of the box bios configurations.

The 5800,5900, and 5950x have 142,95,140. The 5600x has 76,60,88 as limits.

Another way they love to cheat is with telemetry (hwinfo64 shows this as power reporting deviation)
You could fix these as well if your board has the options but that's not really necessary as of now.

could you provide insight on this "power Reporting Deviation".
from the description itself, it seems like the bios using power is WAY off the mark.

*nvm, after much googling, its not valid during idle/semi load. only good for full load

I remember i have to push 90% fan speed for my friend's PC-O11 to cool his rig with RTX 3070 down. His RTX 3070 was choking at auto fan speed.

Try cranking up the fans. My back fan is Noctua NF-A14 IPPC3000 at 2000rpm, H150i is pushing 2400rpm on load.

fan running at 1900rpm for both intake and outflow fans. GPU aint the issue here as even the CPU hit 90C, the GPU still is under <45C.
after using nrw value, i did not encounter that error anymore but the spike causing high temp is still annoying during light load - web browsing, youtube etc.

shall test the 3601 or revert to 3401 bios.

The issue now lies between your watercooling parts and the paste I think. Even with Deepcool Assassin III, I've seen only 85C.

Your watercooling setup is very similar to mine, don't think there is any issue there. I'm more incline to believe it may caused by Windows, why i say so bcos previously i have an issue with the idle power always sitting at >200watt, after formatted the problem resolved.

regarding power reporting deviation you are correct, it is only valid on full loads. eventhough cb20 cycles it's pretty easy to test there.

just run multicore n see what the value goes though.
most likely its overreporting. in the case that u'd want to fix that u'd have to go yo your bios (ai tweaker), set CPU Core Current Telemetry to Manual and set a negative offset and try values until you reach something close to 100% in cb20.

but then again, this is not the culprit to your temp issues.

i'll try everthing before i really need to dismantle the WB. its a bitch to do so.
on window, kinda have the same thinking as this issue just appear few days after some window update.

Manual spread. Sometimes I go try something else like Y shape 1 drop on Ryzen word on Y and E then middle and serial number.
