Then,I ran out of troubleshooting on your transfer speed slow down between internal NVME and external USB3.0 rclxub.gif

Lastly, any 2.4Ghz based wifi/bluetooth/mouse active? Ages ago, when 2.4ghz was common, it borked the USB3.0 transfer speed between 2 drives whenever Bluetooth or Wifi 2.4ghz are in use.

Other than that, no idea what really goes wrong.

I have 2 wireless devices, Logitech G Pro and Xbox One X controller, they're all connected via their own proprietary RF connection.

Yea, long time ago there was issues where BT can cause a huge drop in USB 3.0 performance.

Slow I/O speeds aren't a new thing, has been complained [numerous times. But of course, AMD diam diam sweep under the rug because it's not widespread enough. Bring it up again and people call you a hater. whistling.gif

Not worth unless there are features that you want.

QUOTE(Bonchi @ Feb 19 2021, 03:29 PM)
not worth... was the worst decision ive ever made, it doesnt solve any stability issues (if you have any) and CPU and memory performance is identical.. the only gain is pcie Gen4 for GPU and NVME and some boards will have the more recent wifi6.
*
Guys,

How about upgrade to x570 ? in term of performance?

X570 you will get more PCI-E lanes for perhaps more nvme. that's about it. Although you get to enjoy better bios due to it being higher end boards especially dark hero, but you know the price la...

and regards to future proofing, I suppose only if you want to get zen3 then it's worth the upgrade. Else if you plan to just stick to 3600 then it's not really nescessary. Save that money for AM5 instead.

B550 over X570, unless you need chipset PCIE4 lanes, or there's some specific need for a feature spec unavailable on any B550 board (e.g. Thunderbolt on ITX -> only Asrock X570 has it).

When or Why we will need to update the Agesa? the update coming out is quite frequent.
My single core able to hit 4.95ghz with just stock installation. haven't mess with the PBO etc.

only will try it once really complete the rig, not only testing the mobo and PSU stability.

If you have no issues, don't touch the AGESA. Enjoy your system.

People update because they have issues and they hope the next update will fix it for them.

Finally have the time to compare the two systems.

About that CPU PPT wattage:

5950x
Attached Image

3950x
Attached Image

Why in the world CPU SOC on 5950x X570 uses around 10 watts more than 3950x B550 at idle? confused.gif

Not to mention 3950x seems to idle at 3400mhz and 5950x idle at 3600mhz?

Edit: The temp doesn't lie, 3950x is indeed more cooler than 5950x. More or less same coolers and in the same room. PBO + OC had been disabled, set to default.

5900x + Gigabyte X570 Pro wifi for RM3560 seems like a good deal?

5950X = Coolermaster Hyper 212 Turbo (twin fans)
3950X = GAMMAXX 400 PRO (twin fans too)

Test? I just let those systems idling doing nothing. All BIOS default other than RAM XMP and IF sync to RAM 1:1. Trying to find out the problem.

I thought ZEN 2 and ZEN 3 are using same IO dies?
How in the world 5950x SOC use more wattage than 3950x SOC? confused.gif

At first, I thought maybe 5950x has 4 DIMMs of RAM populated while 3950x only has 2 DIMMs populated, thus I removed 2 DIMMs from 5950x mainboard, yet 5950X SOC still report extra 10watts. rclxub.gif

I am seriously considering getting that..since that 5900x and 5950x are what AMD envisioned Zen3 to be. The lower tiers are just byproducts haha.

Calculate the price per core.........
Might as well as you get "full fat" 5950x rather than "sliced fat" 5900x.

Be warned, liquid cooling is heavily recommended. Listen to uncle who has both 5950x and 3950x.
Uncle here settled with air cooling because uncle ran out of budget. moneyflies.gif

Get non conductive coolant if you want to use liquid cooling. Non conductive coolant kinda pricy.

By the way, what is your purpose of getting 5900x?

Noted on the cooling part.

I game, I stream, I edit videos and do multimedia stuffs albeit not that much.

Currently using R5 2600...I'd Imagine the 5900x would last me for quite some time. The 2600 feels dated just over 2 years of usage.

Also, intel's 11900 only having 10 cores makes me sway this direction.

My 5800X pulls 13.5W too, but I never measured this when the CPU was running at stock settings. VSOC is set at 1.05V in BIOS, showing as 1.025V in HWInfo for me.

Eureka, found out the cause.

Apparently, if the IF:DRAM are set beyond 1800Mhz (3600Mhz effective for RAM), then the SOC will use 10watts more.
Is this a bug or feature? blink.gif

What is your IF:DRAM frequency?
