well, the pups will not drink water so fast. They will only start on water once they are fully weaned off milk. So just let it be. For now can let the pups test their taste buds. Can place some vegie with high water content like turnip or cucumber, just a small slice to let them try out. There is nothing to worry about water since hamsters and rats can go longer without water than a camel.

Luckily the pups r ok. I once also experience this b4, the head of the pup got stuck in a small hole of the aroma burner. At first i din noticed, but on the 2nd day, i wonder y the food still left much, so quickly check, then only notice that!!!
I think she has not been eating and drinking for almost 2 days.
I slowly tarik her fur and skin, luckily when their skin is stretch, their head becom smaller, then only got her out. At that time i quickly change the burner to a new one....
Now she's living happily loh..........

Just let them learn to drink and eat naturally.

Also, the cage thing... this is why we never breed hamsters in cages, either in tanks or storage boxes. You are lucky it survived. Normally can snap the neck and die.

Bread, cannot give fresh bread, too soft.... the soft bread can become sticky with saliva and when a hamster keeps it in the pouch, it will become sticky with its saliva and it will have a hard time pushing out the bread. If it gets stuck inside the pouch, it can cause bacteria to grow, eating into the insides of the pouch and causing infection..... Normally we make the bread hard by airing it out to become hard or toast the bread till crispy to be safe.

Also, never give bread often since it contains yeast, which can cause problems in the gut and digestive system.

Just wondering, I was at MidValley's petshop last December, I saw loads of hamster in a glass enclosure and many were shivering? Is that normal? o_o

But its kinda fun seeing all those hamsters sleeping in a group and the rest running over the sleeping ones xD

They shiver to mean they are insecure.... scared.... the hamsters do not feel comfortable coz over crowded in the tanks on display and it is not natural for them to have so many hamsters together in 1 place.

i normally give them the top & bottom layer only coz that part not so soft... and they won't finish it in one day, so some of the bread hardened when oxidise... so more crunchy... and no, i don't give them everyday... only twice a week...

actually it stuck between the bar ..how to describe..hurm..the cage have the plastic floor which is the height around 7-8cm..even mama and papa oso hard to panjat it..
Attached Image <--this is 3 of them

so they dun have problem to walking..hurm kenot describe that as walking..running laa..they like running here and there..even only 19days old,can walk and running properly oredy..oredy love to make noise at nite by running on the wheel.. vmad.gif like the mama and papa but is a smaller size..

but one of them manage to climb to 2nd floor..how laa he/she do it..i dunno laa..only mama can because the jarak between the bar is quite besar and only mama can get up there...so....i dunno what did he/she do...but just imagine only its head stuck between the bar..it seam like he/she want to sneak out rfom the cage..it did not stuck at the 2nd platform's floor..but is stuck at the 2nd platform's barred wall..like we were trying to sneak from jail through the barred door laa..but ..ups..the head stuck..oso still dunwan to throw the food from its pouch..haiyaa doh.gif

the second floor..only for adult hamster
Attached Image <-..he/she did not stuck at the floor, but at the wall(this side..hurm..this wall laa)..so notty..

hurm..ya lo..they will be safe is just 'lepak-lepak' at the ground floor..but it will be dangerous if they manage to climb the ladder..but the only solution i have (if i dunwan to buy new tank-so expensive maa-)just pull out the 2nd floor laa..hikhik..problem solved..because the plastic part for the cage is quite height..even their parents oso faced a big problem when trying to ecaped(need to stand on something baru boleh reach the barred wall)..

i dunno how u define expensive coz it's subjective actually... but looking on how eager and impatient u were when u 1st got the pups, i think that is more 'expensive' than the tank... don't u think so...? hmm.gif
