QUOTE(dien @ Mar 1 2007, 08:20 AM) ya, i think my hamsters also like that, making noise if need something.. if my hammies want something, they vandalise everything inside the cage... drop the wheel, overturn the food bowl, overturn the potty, goncang the bottle, climb up n down biting the cage...sometimes if they are boring, they will "goncang" their bottle.. later, i need to change the wet bedding.. let them out jalan-jalan for 15mins, put them back into the cage, they straight go to bed... |

QUOTE(arraille @ Mar 2 2007, 09:50 AM) anyone here ever bathed their hamsters with bathing sand/powder... how to do it & what brand is the good one...? yeap... last time i bought bathing sand for my syrians... they end up using it as a potty... didnt even roll in it.... after that, i switched to cat litter as their potty... i shake shake the sand first before giving them to release some dust away.... ohya, bathing dust is not recommended as they might end up in ur hamster's respiratory.... QUOTE(crazymouse_yyh @ Mar 2 2007, 10:41 AM) Syrians do not sand bath coz their fur is never that greasy... sand bath more for hamsters that have greasy fur, it get rids of the oils properly and condition the fur. For Syrians, I groom using just a toothbursh... just brush the fur is enough. each time my syrians come out from the tube after sleeping whole day, their face sure wet wet... haha... sweating i guess....and after they fully groomed themselves, they also appear to be wet... coz they use their saliva to bath... QUOTE(arraille @ Mar 2 2007, 11:36 AM) hun... i'd like to make my Syrians fat lah...not so damn fat lah, but 'good-looking' fat... any idea what is the 'specific' food...? mine not jz fat... one of them even has a big head.... Added on March 2, 2007, 11:38 am waaa... u got 6th sense meh..? i jz noticed it after comparing him to his twin sibling... his head is extra large... hahaha.... |

QUOTE(arraille @ Mar 2 2007, 02:41 PM) everything that is possible... nolah... jz feed them alot... but my hamsters do tend to be lazy... they sleep alot and exercise for a few minutes only.... if u tend to feed them too much, they will become choosy in their diet... if i feed sunflower seed to them, they dont even care... |

QUOTE(dien @ Mar 2 2007, 02:56 PM) cooked white rice... normal one lor when u eat rice... not beras la....QUOTE(arraille @ Mar 2 2007, 03:12 PM) i dunno whether this is normal to Syrians... but mine both are so active (maybe bcoz not fat YET...)... they really run on wheels from around 11pm to 6am... even when my wife wake up in the middle of the night somewhere around 3am to prepare milk for my son, still can hear them running... yeah... before mine became baloon, they are quite active as well... run for at least few hours every nite.... but now, can only hear them run few minutes... after that sleep few hours, 5am wake again run awhile and eat eat eat... den back to sleep again... QUOTE(Reanne @ Mar 2 2007, 04:13 PM) Get the silent spinner or put some lubricating oil on the axle of the wheel. jz use normal cooking oil to lubricate the wheel... other greese or household lubricant might be dangerous if ur hamster licks it.....Why do you want them to be fat? Don't think of just making them fat. As long as you feed them a good balanced diet, they will eventually gain weight. That's what's happened to most of my hams so far, that's why they look so chunky. yeah, jz give them normal diet good enough... too fat also not good, like mine everyday sleep only.... thats why i alwiz wake them up in the middle of their sleep... kekekeke... QUOTE(BlueHeng @ Mar 2 2007, 09:25 PM) My ww.. I feel like wanna cekik it sometimes. I put the bedding nicely for it and it'll kick one spot away in the corner then pee there, as a result, the pee won't be absorbed by the bedding and it'll stink. grrrr... hahaha.... i guess its normal for syrians... they dig and push the beddings away and sleep on it... i guess they dont like sleeping on the bedding, but prefer to be surrounded by beddings....potty train ur hamster if u dont want them to pee in the cage.... if ur hamster is well potty-trained, u only need to clean their potty when they are smelly.... otherwise, wait till their cage full with poos only change the beddings.... thats why now i change my hamster beddings once every 2 weeks.... |

QUOTE(crazymouse_yyh @ Mar 3 2007, 11:17 PM) Bald area with some red spots? QUOTE(dien @ Mar 8 2007, 08:11 AM) thanks thanks...QUOTE(crazymouse_yyh @ Mar 8 2007, 08:15 AM) I do not think it's oily food. thanks for the info... i think the biggest possibility is bad nutrition... my gf simply give food for them to eat... I just Googled hamster hair loss, the_catacombs, you should try and read up about it there. Anyway, hairloss got a few types... 1 is from bad nutrition... well, I think you feed your hamster well rite? Sometimes hair loss can be a sign of vitamin problems... Another would be mites.... they are really microscopic mites so you cannot see with your eyes, must use microscope lah. Normally can call this mange. You hamster got any dandruff coming out? If yes, bring to vet to treat. Another thing about hairloss... hamsters around 2 years old is considered old in hamsters... and just like old people, we also experience hair loss.... so old hamsters will have hair loss... but yours only at the butt... so... I do not think it could be a sign of old age yet. "Hair Loss ( Alopecia ) Hair loss can occur for a number of reasons in hamsters. This loss of hair can be due to both disease and nondisease conditions. Continual rubbing on feeders or sides of the cage as well as protein deficiency and barbering (hair chewing by cage mates), are examples of nondisease causes of alopecia. Infestation with demodectic mites is one of the most common infectious causes of patchy alopecia and scaling in hamsters. Other conditions that lead to hair loss include adrenal tumors, thyroid deficiency, and chronic renal disease. Some of these conditions may be correctable, while others are not." http://www.veterinarypartner.com/Content.plx?P=A&A=679&S=5 before her fur loss, she gave them eat coco crunch.... QUOTE(joanalooidog @ Mar 8 2007, 08:52 AM) Mayb bcoz of the bedding gua..... yeap... the beddings will fly out vr often... so, alwiz have to sweep floor.... Ur custom made cage looks nice, but the problem is the bedding will be kicked out often wor..... Since ur hamster got bulu problem, try change to breeder celect see see, and u'll have a cleaner floor also wor...... |
