my posted on Jul 8 2014, 11:47 PM, thread New Honda City 2014 v02

latest project, successfully mirror the image using wireless connection from my hp to V spec HU. BTW, this is my 2nd attempt using a HDMI wifi dongle manufactured by different company. solution, need a dongle that support low resolution (most dongle in our market only support high resolution) & using built-it miracast function in my new hp. damaged, rm100 for a wifi dongle & rm279 for Asus Zenfone4 hp. easy to setup, plug n play. connection stable & smooth without any problem. no need to use HDMI, MHL or Apple Digital AV cable anymore.. :-)

i hide the dongle behind the dashboard, beside the passengger legroom using an ext hdmi cable..

I think it will glare a bit but not like HID... I don't have projector retrofitted so no cutoff line...

in that case, you might wanna record a video and show it to sc, or maybe try to locate where the sound came from, by having someone sitting at the back

Hi everyone, will be picking up my City V by next week. Can anyone recommend a good car tint to use (currently looking at 3M)? icon_question.gif Prefer the ones that won't kacau by JPJ or traffic police.

Also, would greatly appreciate if anyone can point me to a good service center (I'm based in PJ)

Thank you. notworthy.gif

chinti, I got my city e specs 2 months ago in Nov last year similar to yours. I saw your post of noises and brought to SC but couldn't identify the problem. For your info, my car seems fine without any noise even when driving around 30 to 40km/h. Maybe just the louder sound when you rev the engine in some cases, but other than that, no other specific sound are spotted.

wow still can get 2016 model? my SA told me all sold out, so cant secure 2016 model for me. Anyway it's quite worth it la if you go for 2016 model, 8k discount. my current 2017 model i only get 4800 discount from my SA. But when you sell the car in the future the price difference between 2016 & 2017 model will be around 3 ~ 5k difference. So depends if you wanna save now or get more money back later in the future. That's my RM0.02 la, any sifu can provide better comment please by all means do so, I also wanna learn smile.gif notworthy.gif

U cannot have your cake and eat it. With higher light output, sure koyak earlier than normal bulb.

Confirm, my Osram Nighbreaker Unlimited lasted my less than 1 year.

Philips has (slightly) longer life in my experience. Go for X-tremeVision.

But X-tremeVision and Nightbreaker Unlimited really very obviously brighter than stock

If u always drive fast and/or drive long distance, I'd say worth it.

Yes agree with you on the concern of resell value 3-5k difference in future, I'm thinking if these 3-5k value depreciate as well the longer I hold the car? Let's say I sell the car after 10years, the difference between 2016 and 2017 model may be only 1k, is that possible?

got my E specs city 5 months ago.... sat in the car with SA, everything looks fine... the moment he left the car and I drove home, then the rattling sound starts!!

adding to that, malfunction reverse sensor.. now, finally full load my car for a family trip, the back seat is making noise every time i go through a bump...

and just yesterday, I have discovered, whenever I stepped on the brake, whether driving fast or slow or whatever, it has some noise which those super old car will make...

i dont know why... but macam no fate with Honda T_T...

called SC to arrange appointment, SC doesnt even pick up call.... complained on FB, also no response... sighhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.....

Try unmount/lower the back seats, and slam it (yes, slam it) back in place. This sound usually occurs if the seat is not firmly locked in place.

last time i have a squeaking noise(metal) if no one sit behind and pass through a bump. the noise is gone after SC tighten the so called seat bracket. But if there is pl sitting behind and go through a bump, the squeaking noise will appear but only a small chance. I think you need to bring the technician for a ronda ronda in taman to show the noiseXD ask them sit behind too and go through bump.

Temperature wise I think will like Unlimited more? 4000K vs 3750K which is more white in Unlimited compared to Laser

chinti, I got my city e specs 2 months ago in Nov last year similar to yours. I saw your post of noises and brought to SC but couldn't identify the problem. For your info, my car seems fine without any noise even when driving around 30 to 40km/h. Maybe just the louder sound when you rev the engine in some cases, but other than that, no other specific sound are spotted.

urs is only engine sound?

One turn - small light
Two turn - small + low beam
Push towards you - temporary high beam
Push away from you- permanent high beam

Rear led combination lights i think available for india only. Ours usually follow thai spec

So i guess the only difference at the rear is the bottom of the bumper.

wow still can get 2016 model? my SA told me all sold out, so cant secure 2016 model for me.
*
I doubt u still can get 2016 as I already booked since last month but no stock, end up buy the 2017 with lesser discount cry.gif

My current SA offer 5k, while the previous SA only offer 4k dry.gif

From the pic....they changed the front grill and the headlights to be sync with civic and accord design. The bumpers for the front and back also changed...thats it. Other than that status quo. Interior wise not sure anything changed.

with the DRL and slight facelift, basic model most likely hit 80k(with insurance) at least compare to current basic 76.1k?

I think the E spec and below won't get the DRL, so maybe not much increase.

My prediction:
1. Slight interior trim changes.
2. V-spec HU will get updated to new version that support Apply Carplay/Android Auto.
3. VSA standard across all variant. (To be competitive against the Vios)
4. S spec discontinued. (The Vios J just more value than the S spec)

If you install DRL, most of it requires you to change the cover as well. wouldn't it be better than to drill holes on your original cover?
You can still keep your original cover for future use.

Hi guys, noticed that my front car plate broken, probably someone hit it while reversing.

Well, just another catalyst to allow me to make new custom plate haha.

Anyone know a good place to do custom plate? Around Klang Valley/Damansara/PJ.

Thanks!

NBU is more white and brigher than stock bulb... I changed NBU for my wife, father and FIL's car...

My City was using Osram Cool Blue Intense. Not recommended as when raining at night, you can't see much...

Considering to get City V spec. Any chance if the upholstery can be changed to Leather Seat? Would it affect the i-side airbag? Also warranty?

Please kindly share your knowledge.

New FL look more like a smaller Accord. Leather seat is interesting. Wonder what is the earliest release in Malaysia.

Must be fast as Vios also got new FL too.

What a busy 2017.

First 1km? No worries. Go to the one nearest you. If changing oil always do before the 10km, 20km, etc

The 0w20 is good for fuel economy and city driving more.

0w30 is more for performance and more protection during spirited driving.

I'm using 0w30 as I drive highway 90%+ of the time...

Bought it from Lazada for RM119.
http://www.lazada.com.my/honda-city-2014-n...e-11947536.html

Auto lock when your speed goes beyond 20kmph. Auto unlock when you shift to P.
There is another type which auto locks when you shift to D, that can be found in Lazada also with slightly lower price.
Installation is easy, just plug it into the OBD port and that's it. thumbsup.gif

Hi City owner..

Anyone encounter the hill start assist doesnt work?

When i get my car from shopping mall parking, there is a slope uphill to exit the car park. I found my HSA doesnt work that time, it will slope backward when i release my brake, the gear in D mode.

I then drive along on my way back, i test again and it work as normal. What i can suspect is did the car need to "warm up" to make the HSA work? Or something like ABS it need certain speed to activate the HSA?

Can our CVT gearbox last as long as the Vtevc engine with proper care and genuine CVT treatment? CVT is kinda sensitive transmission and will cost a bomb to replace.

I means is there any proper care of CVT beside changing CVT oil frequently, such as put neutral when at traffic light or dont accelerate during cold start...or any proper driving style to prolong CVT gearbox lifespan ...

What about 5-30? The semi synthetic engine oil.. as I know, thicker oil provide better protection for the engine but 0-30 seems a bit expensive.. I am going to change my engine oil next month, 5 mth old car with mileage less than 3k, thinking to chg 5-30 or 0-20..

Since the air/cabin filter is part of the preventive maintenance, I guess it might void the warranty since you are not following the recommended maintenance by authorized SC. Better read the warranty booklet for the TnC.

Hi All,
i have 1 question, if driving on the slope or down the slope. I stop my car and shift to "N" and pull up the handbrake. Does the car will continue to move ?
As i encounter when i stop on the slope and shift my gear to N and pull the hand brake. The car will slowly move down or move up.
Please advise is this normal ? If not, then i will inform SC on my first 10kkm service. BTW my car is just 2 months old. Thanks.

If you only pulling handbrake softly hmm.gif

It will move toward gravity's direction.

The problem only if you still feel had force toward front on N

Hi Tachlio,
Yes, it move toward the gravity direction. As i thought when hand brake applied and gear shift to "N" mode, the car will station on slope without any movement. (Base on my driving manual car last time).
But now, the car will move to gravity direction, abit by abit it move. Feel like the rear brake is not fully lock the behind both wheels.

I'm using Michelin PS4 but not on stock rims though. For stock rim, can try Advan Fleva v701, Michelin XM2, Conti MC5 biggrin.gif

RM208.80/pc ...use 2 diff lazada voucher to get extra RM43 discount ...XM2 treadwear 420, higher than Goodyear Excellence 240. so its a long lasting tyre. according to most users, this tyre will become very noisy after using >50% , grip wise , dont expect much from this budget tyre ...

higher rating treadwear tyre , grip wont be that good ... its a normal tyre icon_rolleyes.gif

Erm.. I noticed a lot of you guys have been complaining about the noises in your city.

But my city a bit different, mcm a bit too quiet although also got some squeaking when going through bump or uneven road or in the afternoon. But really minor.. so I don't really bother at all.

So, here's the problem. I have been trying to listen for the "tak"sound at 40km/h as complained by most users here. Walao.. mcm that sound no keluar at all... now I am a bit worried whether my ABS malfunction or what. sad.gif

Shall I ask SC to check? But I know they sure say, everything is ok one.. doh.gif

At first, i thought the "truk" sound is something wrong, only get to know that it is normal. Did you guys always drive on econ mode? I've been driving on econ mode all the while since i got my car. Always feel under powered especially on the first gear, other than that smooth drive as always. Not get used to CVT as it always get up to rpm 2/3, therefore i always try to press lightly and accelerate slowly

Buy a different grille too and different front bumper to fit that grille of the facelift too if you can. While you're at it, look for a rear different bumper too. Nobody's stopping you.

You cannot doesn't mean others cannot. If drive from KL to JB and back again at constant speed of 100-110 km/h, i also can achieve that kind of figure.

It comes together whole with the headlights. To change original and used honda headlights is 3k a pair. This is for current city model with honda grace jdm led headlights. New fl model headlight dunno can fit older model not.

+1

constant steady rpm will help lots.

probably heavier weight on this version, need 80-90 km/h best fc so far for me (if not in hurry), sold idsi cvt best fc at 70-80km/h.

SC fix the rubber seal and lubricates the windowlifter motor.
And then he advised me to open/close to window once everyday to prevent the sticking.

I had this power window issue on both of my rear windows since day one. I always raise this issue to the Actmar SC but they say no issue after testing for a few minutes. They don't even bother to check it unless it is permanently spoilt. In the end, just applied some oil.
Planning to change another SC and raise this issue again.

almost 3k mileage but only hit 13.8km/l so far. Most probably all differs by driving habit or traffic condition?

Btw, I saw some other forum on using empty fuse box area to get power for foot light input. Anyone can enlighten on this matter? was thinking of diy but checked mr diy version is using cigarette head and it comes with switch on/off on the paper said. If its possible to build own circuit then would be best.

Good FC only attainable on smooth traffic aka highway . Depend on traffic condition .

Ask for professional advice before DIY . U could end up spoil ur car and warranty void .

Yeah I tried using credit card to pry open the rubber seal before, but too much hassle to do it every single time...
Silicone & Teflon dry lube don't work.
So my daily routine every morning is to wind down all the windows (abit is enough). So far so good.

actually it depend how you drive and road topography as well. more often you accelerate, high fuel consumption. road bump, traffic light and road gradient (more climbing than downhill) also impact the fuel consumption.

my suggestion, see the meter panel. more often you see blue light rather than green, it show increase of fc.

It is good to hear if this solves your sound problem. Earlier today I heard a ticking sound that I never heard before. I spend like 10 mins to listen to where the sound comes from. Give up and got back to my car just now and noticed the sound is gone. Then when I turn on the wiper it is up again.

Anyone experienced similar sound? I swear I never heard this before.

- Reverse sensor intermittent keep beep during "R"
- Sent to related SC checking, they confirm is one side is NG, so they need order.
- Took 1 month for part to arrive SC.
- Car sent 9.20am, they call me 11am said done.
- Due to bringing new born with me, so unable check the car.
- Testing the sensor at night, found one sensor is disable!!!!!
- The invoice stated REPLACEMENT OF PARKING SENSOR

Really waste of my time and piss of with such SC.
Already heard few case this SC, charge but not replace the part but due to near my working location, so believe so call authorized SC.

Will write a complain letter ask other SC to verify so call the fix!!!

I would rather believe it will not fit without changing the whole grill and bumper. But if you dislike the new design, you can get yourselves Honda Grace's LED taillamp & LED headlight. No need change bumper & grill. Just you need to spend quite a big amount of money to achieve it. Around 5k for both taillight & headlight if not mistaken.

*
Actually for a new set of Grace headlamp with the adapter to use with H11 socket and the manual leveling switch is about RM5k d... The Grace taillamp is about RM2k... laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

to all city sifus,
how to shift the gear without turn on the engine?
I read from somewhere else,
for start driving, its better to shift the gear from P to N first, then only start engine.
for parking, its better to shift the gear to N first, off engine then only shift to P.

I always have this practise, after i park my car, i will do the below step.

Shift to N > Pull handbrake > Release foot brake(make sure handbrake hold the car position) > Shift to P > off engine..

When u have this practise stopping ur car, u dont have to worry abt starting ur car, just normal start ur car can already.

Cause u arr using handbarle to hold ur car instead of ur gear when doing so, when u start ur vehicle, still handbrake is holding ur car.

Unlike the divider down below, you can naturally feel it if it is too close as you can see the other car. If you don't feel comfortable, just realign your car and try it again. Not seeing the bonnet doesn't matter because there is always a gap and you're not going on a hairline gap towards a car that is unless you want to see scratches on your fender or bumper.

Probably your side mirror is knocked out of place by something or someone, most side mirrors have gear mechanism and when being pushed the other way around it will dislocate as a means to protect the folding mechanism. Just pull it back in place and the gears will snap back. If that doesn't work, then it means ur side mirror folding gear might be broken, get it checked.

i think not knocked by anything, coz before i get into my car both side mirrors seems ok in correct positions, when i push start the engine...i heard the mirror motor operated and the driver side mirror over turn like that...but don't have any movement on the passenger side mirror...

I didn't use hand to push it back in place, i press the retract button on and off to make the mirror back to place...and i checked the mirror, no broken gear or something loose....

I see... so you are saying that you did not fold the mirror when you stop your car, but the right mirror "fold" when you start the car? If yes, I suggest that you bring it back to SC. It seems something wrong with the mirror circuit.

V-spec still got 6 airbags and 7" HU. I think e-spec is less special now.

Wahhhh am i the only one who thinks honda being super lazy this time around? Seriously not much upgrade at all. This new city is trying so hard to be like civic design language. I expect them to change the back outlook since the back doesnt really have that nice look. And i think i can just change my front bumper to the facelift version without any problem since the design is pretty much the same. Easy upgrade for us 6th gen i guess. Haha.

minor facelifts are usually like this, always on the cosmetic looks and also to uprate the lower specs. Their move is very definite to countermeasure Vios giving VSA, Keyless push start for all spec.

Alright. I can now hear rattling sound coming from the back of my Steering Wheel.
When i push down of the plastic behind the steering wheel. It stops.

This is common right? I've read it in this thread before. Can be fixed by the SC?

Also having problems with the driver side rear door....the rubber seal keeps falling down everytime it gets too hot.

The rattling sound is coming out when the car is stationary or moving or what?
Mine also got rattling sound coming out from driver side, either dashboard or steeling wheel area, but only turning right. if moving straight dont have, not sure is similar or not.

Since Transport minister already announce they want to make VSA compulsory in everycar by 2018. Its a good time for car makers to start rolling the dice. rclxm9.gif

Yes, that's the gear release latch. Only hears that when our gear is at P. I didn't hear it anywhere else.

honda warranty policy = anything u changed to ur car (except wear n tear parts) will void warranty

even changing rim also will give u problem during warranty claim

sucks right laugh.gif

but as long as u didn't cut any wire, u can replace the part with original one before claiming warranty

last time IIANM got 1 cr-z user change rim, then not long after that his gearbox spoilt

SC reluctant to change the gearbox coz they said it's because changing rim

this is what i hear la.. i might be wrong on this

but if u change the electronics part, if anything happens related to electronics they will blame the one that u changed also

to be safe, before going for warranty, make sure all parts are original from the 1st day u bought (except wear n tear)

the warranty is provided by them.

now the complicated part:
the onus of proof lies with the owner.
he has to proof to honda that change of rims does not affect the gearbox.
good luck on that.
