some SD channels are now in 16:9? despite the OSD showing 4:3

eg. all Media Prima channels, no more stretched-up feeling like before, although OSD shows as 4:3 and they still let you toggle between 4:3 and 16:9

another example would be NHK, however this one is recognized as 16:9 and won't allow to toggle between 4:3

with the emergence of international OTT providers in Malaysia like Netflix, Prime video, Viu, there's plenty of alternatives to it, if you stay in urban area, there's less challenges to have access to fiber broadband, 10 Mbps Unifi lite enough for you to stream Netflix in full HD with 5.1 audio

currently there's the gray area in which Astro don't censor a thing in their VOD and AOTG platform, same goes for other OTT providers in the country, no content tampering so far. To be fair the content censorship regulation is required by gomen, but ironically kids these days know better than us, they can just watch uncensored version on either OTT or pirated channels on the web

they want SKMM to regulate legitimate OTT providers like Netflix and iFlix, means that any content showing will be subjected to censorship as well, including their own AOTG will be subject to censorship, so this move also shoot themselves in the foot

i don't think SKMM would want anything to do with this, it burdens them and affect GLCs like TM and Celcom.

Not skip... It will be replaced with Astro own made ads, like those Astro First, Best movies promo, TV programme promos, etc.

With my UniFi 30 Mbps speed, I have already subscribed to NetFlix for more than a year and can watch 1080p videos in Dolby Digital 5.1 too (using Oppo 105D player). With Smart TV NetFlix app, can watch in 4K. The NetFlix movie "Okja" is the first streaming movie in Dolby Atmos but only the latest LG TV support this audio. Also subscribed to Tidal HiFi and listened to MQA High Resolution audio.

Assteruk actions of always treating subscribers like sh*t and always trying to squeeze more profit without listening to complaints... is actually not smart. There are people who can afford to pay and willing to pay BUT when Assteruk treat such people so badly, they will eventually lose subscribers such as me. When Assteruk still continue to treat us like fools, they are NOT helping to fight piracy !! Assteruk recent advertisement on a kid telling his father not to watch online pirated video may only help to make people more angry and support such activities !!

Just because there are people who can afford it... do NOT mean that Assteruk can treat such people as stupid fools !! As one of the pioneer subscriber since December 1996... bought the decoder at RM 1400+, ZERO late payments, and continued subscription non-stop for around 20 years AND was paying RM220+ (with multiroom)... its really disgusting when the situation continue to become worse and worse. Repeats keep on increasing until many channels only have just a few new shows in a month. Even my niece who watched cartoons seldom watch anymore and I asked her why... she said "so many already watch before lah!". The commercial breaks have become longer... many years ago, each break last around 2 to 3 minutes BUT 5 to 6 minutes are common now ! Then Assteruk adds in more "sponsored message" which appeared before a show starts. Each time Assteruk ADDs in more new channels, the situation becomes more worse... why?... now they have over 150+ TV channels and many of the channels are actually "DEAD" channels with about 95% repeats. I can watch a channel just 3 days a week for about 2 years and I can say that I only have just two or three new shows to watch every month. Example... History HD Ch 575... repeats of OLD seasons of Pawn Stars, Storage Wars, Counting Cars, Ancient Aliens, Swamp People, Ride And Seek... and so many more which are continually RECYCLED for many many years... and my friend told me that the only "new" show that he hasn't watch is "Photo Face-Off Season 4" ! Only a few channels have "lesser" number of repeats.

When I see that the Satellite Pay TV is becoming more and more SIMILAR to NJOI Satellite Free-To-View TV, then why should I be so stupid to continue paying? I felt as though I was paying RM 220+ monthly for around 20% to 30% extra content not available in NJOI and then more and more advertisements with the recent EPG banner ad... I felt stupid and tak boleh tahan so TERMINATE. I don't mind paying more to Netflix, iFlix, Tidal, Spotify but at least I don't feel so stupid. Eventhough paying RM 51 per month for NetFlix is not cheap, I don't feel like a fool when 4 different persons can watch on different devices AND no advertisements AND I can pick which show or movie to watch at ANY time I want !

Unfortunately... what can people do when they have no fast speed internet, no UniFi ? Ya... many say that they will die without Assteruk because there is no other alternative. I thought that we will die if we don't eat... so can we "die" without Assteruk entertainment? Blame it on monopoly but many still vote for BN !

I am actually very happy when Assteruk continue to become more worse, and make more and more people MAD... I will just sit patiently and wait for more terminations.

Is the raise from RM50 to RM65 are justifiable, eventhough the service quality isn't improved much?

I heard it is due to that Assthrow Liew Siew Lin's management that lead Assthrow becomes more greedy.
This one came from Alliance Bank and created lots of politics and axed a lot of headcount in Assthrow, for disparity treatment.

For Assteruk, they are big boss, tai koh (大哥). They don't need to justify anything. All subscribers MUST follow THEIR terms and conditions so they are the dictator who tells you to sit and you must sit... if tells you to stand, then you MUST stand.

They don't need to explain anything whenever they changed any of their Terms and Conditions for subscribers. Its useless for any subscriber to ask because they can simply give any reason and then the raise to RM65 will still continue.

People complained to them about the stupid EPG Ad in the Info Banner... and we are told that we can reduce the display time so that the ad won't appear too long !!! LOL ! After that complaint... after giving stupid excuse... the EPD Ad still continue !

Many subscribers should wake up... Assteruk simply ignores our complaints and suggestions. Nothing you can do about it... EXCEPT what can be done is to reduce the packs or totally terminate !

The video itself is 4:3 video format, but the content is 16:9.

Imagine, your video supposed to be rectangle (16:9), but you squeeze it to square (4:3).
In other words, 16:9 content on a 4:3 video, but without leterrbox, fit to screen.

But then, not every content you see on Media Prima channels now are "fit to screen" without letterbox.
Advertisements and certain TV shows aired on Media Prima channels still shows letterbox and in native 4:3 format.

yup i know about that. but the another pic i take from indonesian group shows tv3 have letterbox means tv3 on M3C are output the real 16:9 format. unlike myfreeview and astro that still in 4:3
