Latest rate from Affin effective today.

No need Fresh Fund. Invikta 2.45% 12 months or above, normal 2.40%

Seems like rather low.

CIMB FD is lower, but their TIA is 2.55%. Citibank still 2.5%.
*
May I know how do I get the information about TIA 2.55% at CIMB, I called up branch in Penang as well as customer services at HQ, no one knows about this promotion.
Can place it with Cimb clicks ?

Doubt this is promotion, ask them Tia rate 2.55% for fresh fund. I think Tia only available over the counter as they need you to sign forms indicating you know the risks etc.
??!!

BR branch called to collect FD cert renewed thru' WhatsApp and email instructions. This branch is in another district, luckily now can cross districts with 2 jabs.

Surprisingly no other customer in the branch, either due to Covid scare or other reasons.

BR no FD promo at the moment.

Thing i don't like about BR is there is no PIDM protection. Can you do FPX out from this bank? Later put in money, need to go bank to take out money....sweat.gif...i do everything online nowadays...FPX from this bank to that bank, whereever got promo. Stay at home, click click, place FD, watch Netflix.

Earlier apparently there were quite a few BR branches that got covid cases. That included the branch that I went to & Xclusive told me it happened a few times.
Scary, so stay safe.
At that time I routed all my FD certs to KL HQ.

This BR branch did not call until >1 mth later. Another branch has eagerly asked customer to collect FD cert, renewed thru' WhatsApp and email instructions.

Unluckily, this later period more Covid cases happened !

Anyway better to stay safe. Recently have just been renewing my HL TIAi to 6 mths 2.45% instead of moving to some slightly higher returns. Not much gain but with risks involved.

Seeking advise. FD rates now so low but still want something super secure. What would you people suggest? Some sort of fixed income product? Which one?

Fixed income bonds

Initially I thought the closure announced in Facebook was maybe due to EMCO in the area or reduce staff movement but very unfortunately, I was wrong.

I can imagine what Penang is going thru now is similar to what Klang Valley experienced 1 or 2 months ago.

I also initially did not want to open an account in Bank Muamalat but since the 18 months promo is until 31 Dec & option for monthly interest, had to bite the bitter bullet.

Ya, Penang reported cases scary.

4 years ago, Muamalat has 4.5% FD promo. But 3 years ago after the FD matured, I terminated even my SA there. So to place new FD, has to do it all over again.

Was initially itchy as their rate seems the best so far. But then 18 mths a bit long, thinking OPR will go up sooner than that. 12 mths rate also not bad. With Covid scare, will just forgo the hassle. Just renew my HL TIAi for now.
