genxgenygenz just posted in his FB: Maybank 4.1% 1-yr FD min 10k fresh fund. Anyone got further info?
*
Maybank's GIA promotion is confirmed ended.

What I just found out is normal FD at effective rate 4.0%.
Step-up rates as follows:
1st to 6th month 3.5%
7th to 10th month 4.0%
11th to 12th month 5.5%

Minimum RM10k & is valid between 5th to 31st January 2017 or upon reaching RM 300 million.
(Apparently today it already reached RM 130 million)

I just got back from Maybank, was told by the teller that the quota for 4% @ 12 months has finished. I knew it would be taken up pretty quickly but I didn't expect it to be that fast. Can anyone else confirm? or could it be the teller messed up during the fd application (normal rates instead of promo rates)
*
I will not be surprised considering yesterday around 12+pm I was informed already 130 million out of 300 million has been snapped up.

Probably I just missed it then. I called the branch at about 10 am and they told me it was still available sad.gif
*
Maybank service is really slow. I was there before closing time yesterday but only this morning my FD was registered though my RM promised it will be dated yesterday! Luckily I put it all back to GIA last night to earn RM 10+ for a night.
So it could be possible they had a backlog from yesterday.

I recently terminated my MBB GIA i with promo rate of 4.1%. Got the step-up 3.6% pa interest credited.  thumbup.gif This was the one few people asking me >1 week ago.  biggrin.gif

U also put in for one day there.  hmm.gif No wonder MBB FD promo finished so soon. Your amt must be > x00k.  brows.gif No chance for other people liao.  tongue.gif
*
I must thank all the sifus here, even those who have 'retired' from the forum to be extremely calculating in terms of FD interest. Before knowing this forum some years ago, my FDs were only earning an average of 3.1 or 3.2%.

I told my RM how come this month no new quota for GIA, he could not give any satisfactory answer.

100k & the 300 million quota, is a big difference leh tongue.gif

QUOTE(kakashin @ Jan 6 2017, 05:23 PM)
Ya, tell me about it. I was at the branch for 1 whole hour during lunch time. I find their system, which requires you to open a new fd account whenever you place fd with a branch that you do not have an existing fd is very inefficient and a waste of time. Worst of all was after the wait, the teller told me the quota is full  dry.gif . It seems another forummer managed to get the promo rate. Will have to go back and check with them again.
Hmm...I guess the teller might have made a mistake when processing the fd application  doh.gif
*
I was at MBB at 3.30, only about an hour later I finished & could not get my FD slip cos operations closed!
Yes, it may help trying another branch also, different branches may have different story.

Bank Rakyat Section 14, near Digital Mall is rubbish branch..
100k FD but pen / diary also dont want give..

other ppl get hamper, thumbdrive, from other branch..
please aviod Bank Rakyat Section 14, near Digital Mall branch..
*
Sometimes it is true they run out of stock for gifts, I experienced before. However, as of late, Section 14 branch seems to be getting stingy as previously it was quite easy to get nego rate from there.

As for bigger gifts like hampers & buffets, I think you really have to millions deposited to be eligible for it in PJ/KL areas as there are many high rollers. I gave up hope of getting it also. Or maybe you need to open an account in poorer areas in KL/PJ to get it?

QUOTE(Deal Hunter @ Feb 3 2017, 04:19 PM)
You may be right that hampers are for RM million plus depositors with all those towkays from Digital Mall. Other gifts may be to please Exclusive members at the same branch. Can they really make money by giving hampers for RM 100,000? Maybe very cheap one with some chocolate wafers and some angpows. Maybe Bank Rakyat should support some local industries/co-ops that use their loans/services that produce stuff/services that can be used for gifts. Anybody for dodol, batik umbrellas. bags, scarves, towels, sarongs, handkerchiefs, tissue, preserved fruits and tidbits or even songkoks and car products, tinting, sandblasting, keychains, letter openers, staplers, torches?
*
In terms of the gifts, I'm speaking from experience of some forumers. brows.gif brows.gif brows.gif
Those in Penang, I'm not so sure but those in Klang Valley most likely have a total of 7 figures or more to get invitation to the buffets & hampers in BR as I have been faithfully placing some funds of a few hundred K in BR but never got it. biggrin.gif tongue.gif

Of course, the gifts are no big attraction to place funds there though but is more like a feel good factor.

hmm.. then something must be wrong with the Branch that I walk into that day....
I hv emailed them a complaint and also fill in the complaint form. No reply to date...
*
I would suggest posting it in facebook & making it public, so far that works best for me on a few occasions when dealing with bank / credit card complaints.
In Malaysia, big companies usually don't bother treating customers nicely until their reputation is at stake.

QUOTE(elea88 @ Feb 16 2017, 05:38 PM)
they called me today.... and explain promo on 10th Feb is:

minimum 500k as individual to enjoy the 4.05% gold fd.
and not 50k....

Minimum 50k only if have COMPANY ACCOUNT with them or something like that...

anyway i only half listen to her..  (She make my hard earn RM50k seem so so so so small...I feel so sad)

She just repeated many times... I am so sorry... We are so sorry for your trouble.... blah blah...
we will look into it further... the usual.

Also she will look into the Records of calls on that day... thats all.
*
Sounds kind of like giving excuses. Eg. last time for my SCB FD promo, they did not enter into the system correctly to credit the interest every 6 months, when the 6th month came, I did not get my interest. It took me 3 complaint cases & a few months later before they acknowledge their mistake & obediently credit my interest. Before that, they gave lots of excuses like:
1. payment instruction is maturity & not shown on my FD slip
2. system is fixed, cannot be changed.
3. need top management approval bla bla bla

Luckily for this forum contributors tongue.gif who said is possible to change, I even argued with them saying my 'friends' managed to change it & what they said is wrong!

Anyhow, 4.05% compared to 4.08% BR / Ambank / RHB is not that great anyway, so is your call if you want to demand what is right.

Hahaha, the good old days when SCB was having good FD promo's in 2014/2015. Some others also have same issue at that time ?  hmm.gif

Anyway, SCB no more competitive FD rates already.  biggrin.gif
*
Tell me about it, I'm considering of closing my account at SCB.
I can't remember if anyone failed to get their interest every 6 months in the end? Maybe everyone got it unless they explicitly requested it upon maturity?

Actually one forummer mentioned this on 6/3. I took the offer last week. Has shown the cert here last week as well.

It seems CIMB is having short term FD promo, like this week it was said 4.2% 12 mth. I just hope next week I can get the same 4.2% rate.  biggrin.gif
*
Sifu, do you think the 4.15% or 4.2% promo will be until April? biggrin.gif Last year's 4.5% BR promo maturing then

U are also a sifu !  notworthy.gif

Last year BR 4.5% FD maturing next week to early Apr. Looking for new homes for these FD now.  biggrin.gif

MBSB I think is a possibility as in Jan I got 4.2% with them. But I think placed enough dough there now. As whether the 4.15%/4.2% will be until Apr, hard to say. Now I hope at least next week can still get it as the first step.  biggrin.gif
Already nego with BR. They do not have FD promo, 12 mth board rate 3.7%. Can only get 3.9% which I told them too low. So pulling out next week. Then early Apr will depend on any new promo. But I hate it. 3/4 due, Monday first working day of the Apr month.  tongue.gif
*
Me low profile, since i group some of my funds for better rate & with Ambank's & BR's 24 months promo rate, sometimes for few months I got no FD to renew.

i'll take the gamble then for next month, worst case is try out MBSB or Ambank's 4.08% for 8 months.

HL 4.3% is NOT true, not CIMB. CIMB 4.2% for their Preferred customer or nego with large sum (one forummer reported that last week for non Preferred customer). I got the CIMB 4.2% deal last week. Have shown the cert also. biggrin.gif
*
Just got back from CIMB, here are the promos still available:

4.2% 12 months for Preferred customer - currently finding out if new Preferred customer can get it or not without topping up on top of the initial RM250k
- heard interest credited monthly

Normal customers:
3.9% 6 months
4.1% 12 months
minimum RM10k

My CIMB RM confirmed that only Islamic 12 mth 4.15% gives monthly interest. The 4.2% conventional one, no monthly interest.  biggrin.gif

Ah, if know it earlier would not have put into HL 9 mths 4.15% today.  cry.gif

Anyway please note it is for CIMB Preferred customer.  biggrin.gif
*
They're very slow & blur, at first told me 4.1% also only for preferred customer, normal can only get 4.05%!

I think I will have to chase them for the answer to my earlier question.

When you applied to be a preferred customer, do you need to give your salary details also? The clerk seems like reading from a script which is not accurate.. mad.gif mad.gif

Individual max 3.8

Yes, unfortunately for individual is only 3.8%.

If you have quite alot of funds, it is not too expensive to start a sole proprietor company for this purpose especially when you can do it online now.

Thanks, ya, I got my answer yesterday evening after calling them.

On Bank Muamalat, I just called the hotline, here what needs to be done to open a business account:
1. Submit photocopy of IC
2. Submit company registration form

Apparently need to take about a week to process & then only approve the application.

Once approved, deposit RM1k into the current account but after that it can be taken out.

I will go to the branch, if really need 1 week, I may just go with CIMB.

If I am not mistaken, FD interest is not company taxable.
