Yes I totally agree with you on this. The keyword which needs to be emphasized is "Enforcement is very weak", which is also lacking. Hopefully more unscrupulous merchants get blacklisted from consumer complaints.

ya. we all go and report, and hopefully they will do something.

i think they (bank, BNM) will have their KPI on solving complains

If they insist minimum what can you do. No proof except recorded.

I met one at BHP jalan kewajipan. I said 20. She said need 30 to use card.

I walk out and go to my regular bhp

Government don't take all this seriously except news about 1imdb or bn.

It still defeats the purpose of no minimum limit even if they reduce their min limit to RM5. We can pay for RM0.50 mineral water from Tesco and Giant using SPay. Some retailers need to rethink their payment methods.
*
yeah some retailers dont want to pay the minimal margin to banks.

Many computer shops do that.
Some very small sole proprietorship also do that.

with low transaction merchant, they pay min fees 2% or RM 1 (whichever higher) to merchant, that why they don't allow card, same like TnGo reload each reload they make 0.50 - rm2 but card fees is a lot higher ....

Just walk out if the merchant insist on minimum amount to accept card . That is our right .

If the merchant do not want to pay the fees to bank , then no need to subcribe to accept card . Just use CASH TERM . No need to pay fees .

Spot on and well said. Some merchants display their array of cards accepted but want to charge extra fees, or min amount, all to their whims and fancy, to me is total BS.

No point we get excited over it without government action we are just talking for fun. Most of the cashier are just workers. Their boss told them to set the limit. Even we scare them with this rules they just don't allow you to pay.

We as consumer still can do our part without the governments initiative or enforcement. It is a chain cycle and all we need to do is leave a gap to ensure that chain is broken. Remember that businesses rely on profit to pay their staff salary and overheads. If customers turn away or boycott, there won't be revenue to pay for the business costs let alone profits. This in return, would cost the Boss to fork out money from his own pockets which also hurts badly. So, remind them not to mess with people power and consumer rights.

True but most Malaysian are still more comfortable to pay with cash so cashless impact in malaysia is still very weak.

But at least we are starting it. I am also boycotting places that don't allow spay or setting limit.

that is what this thread purpose for. start doing from us and share the awareness to our friends/families. I always boycott and even tell others to do so if the merchant set minimum to use.
