Sorry to ask a stupid question.
I have CIMB Mastercard.
Which app should I tie it to? Samsung Pay or CIMB Pay?
Which one is better?

101% samsung pay.

CIMB pay only nfc....

Samsung pay got both mst and nfc, you can use almost everywhere, even ancient credit card terminal, as long as got "swipe" slot .

CIMB pay not very convenient ( in term of launching the app and initialize the payment thing )  to use compare to samsung pay.
*
So for Samsung Pay, it doesn't matter if merchant terminal is using Visa or Mastercard host?
Am I right?

As for as I know, CIMB Mastercard Wave cannot be used on Maybank terminal.

i didn't notice actually, i just use....so far no problem on the visa or mastercard paywave vice versa thingy....

but by right...even using card.....CIMB mastercard wave should be doesn't matter....as long as the Maybank terminal accept Visa and Mastercard + paywave feature.

McDonald is using maybank terminal, you can try there to confirm yourself, either by card or mobile payment.
*
Just now I tried Samsung Pay at McD.
But I was using Citibank Visa.
I haven't link CIMB MasterCard yet because I was still gathering info between Samsung Pay and CIMB Pay.
What I know is that physically CIMB MasterCard Wave cannot be used at McD Maybank terminal.

Right after the Beta testing period, Sammy send an email to Survey the future of SPay (in Malaysia...?).

In the survey questions, transit, ATM and online shopping were considered as part of SPay expansion (in Malaysia...?).

Another feature is to transfer credit/cash to another SPay account/owner...(something like Venmo/SquareCash/PayPal)

This feature is on Apple Pay already? Or will be in Apple Pay?

But Apple has to go thru Bank Negara Malaysia for any cashless implementation... which just safe to say "not going to happen..."
*
Guess there could be limited features in Malaysia.
But BNM is pushing for cashless transaction.

Let's multiply by 3... So, 9 years later, we can do this:

But by that time, hi-tech world may have moved to bio-security system which let us pay thru fingerprint scanner or iris scanner in order to curb terrorism or bombing in public transport/central...or even entering a concert hall...

Even our Internet related life styles are growing exponentially, it is lacking behind to certain extent.

i don't think it is Bank Negara issue....more to $$....

i heard to implement Apple Pay, bank have to pay transaction fee....something like Mastercard and Visa

Samsung Pay dont charge transaction fee....probably that is the reason they go live first.

not sure about android pay
*
Pretty sure Apple wants some fee from that.
This is part of Apple surviving skill!

Not 99% some terminal not up to date you will get  error. I use alot MST so yes it works with normal terminate that have side slide credit card.

My experience with MST

1. Some terminal not  supported
2. Supported but machine will ask for your cvv
3. Supported but sometime need retouch a few times

It won't ask for your pin anymore

If you meet inexperience vendor tell them to press F2 sales or find the word sales in the machine and then just touch it at the upper area and wait till the machine registered your phone.

If you go to mcd when making payment ask the guy to let you touch the machine I tried once passing my phone he tap it wrongly.
*
This situation will use Wave feature instead of MST.
To avoid troublesome of MST unless the merchant specifically mentions that it supports Samsung Pay, I'll ask the cashier to use Wave. Once agreed upon, I'll take my phone out to proceed for Payment.
I have done this at TGV, Aeon Big, McD and Watson.

Nope paywave you need tap the screen and mst you need tap the side.

Most of the time it uses wave..
*
You're no wrong.
Most of the time, I tapped on the top/screen.
Only at Caffe Bene, the cashier asked to tap at the location where the placecard showed "Tap Here" by Samsung Pay.
Then it requires me to sign the printout.

Today I tried for the first time using Samsung Pay, at Penang Queensbay Mall Morganfield.
Transaction going smoothly.
The cashier was hesitate at first, but I convinced her to treat it just like a creditcard, at the end of transaction she said "wow, that is new"
The terminal is wave type, so I just tap the back of S8+ to the credit card terminal, success!
This encourage me to use it even more, so much convenience
*
If you tap on the top side, it'll be using Wave (NFC).
If you tap on the side side, it'll be using MST. You need to enter PIN or sign the merchant copy printout.

Noticed that the card number in Samsung Pay is not same as the physical card number.
Not just the last 4 digits

Guys, don't be overexcited. After usage of 2 weeks, I came to conclusion that 95% of all the terminals out there support Samsung Pay.

There's a higher acceptance rate if you're using Wave/NFC but bear in mind that the limit is capped at RM 250. For this, the terminal doesn't even need to be Samsung Pay compliant.

As for MST, before July 1st, you're required to sign the printout. Not sure for now that you still need to sign it or just input the 6 digits PIN. The success rate of MST could be lower as you may encountered errors. I tried once at Caffe Bene before July 1st.

Another problem I noticed is some merchant especially the electronic cash register is linked up with the card terminal may require the cashier to put the 16 digits card number. You may need to make this available if somehow, the physical card is not available or the merchant electronic cash register is not able to read from the card terminal. I encountered this at Crocs Gurney Paragon.

Hi guys I'm new to this Samsung pay thing. Used at mcd near my place and the transaction went through okay. However in the Samsung pay app when I press on the card that I used for that transaction the app still states that no transaction can be found. Is this normal? It's been one day already. How long does it usually take for the app to update the transactions done with a respective card?
*
Almost instant.
You should receive notification by Samsung Pay app once the transaction completed/successful.
