Not a fan of Spawn. Can't comment there too.

Ain't he supposed to be dead by now since his power souce is limited and is consumed by each power he uses.

Great to see Marvel Studio gonna handle ALL their production towards The Avengers
started with Iron Man, the next one is The Hulk starring Edward Norton & Liv Tyler
next year they gonna making Thor & Captain America before making The Avengers

...and it's nice to see Samuel L Jackson as Nick Fury as Bryan Hitch drew him in The Ultimate comic book

Imagine this :-

1. Iron Man - Nick Fury turns up. Capt shield in the Movie.
2. Hulk - Tony Stack turns up. Nick Fury turns up.
3. Thor - Nick Fury turns up.
4. Avengers - everyone turns up.

What a crossover of the time it will be.

Recently I saw the movie length of Ultimate Avengers on Cinemax. It was quite good. It had Black Widow, Thor, Capt A, Iron Man, Ant-Man, The Wasp and The Hulk too. Second series had the Black Panther.

Hehe, just bumped into this thread. Brought back a lot of memories, remember the heydey of comics in the 90s, with mind shop, final frontier and comics corner fighting in the market

Its a real shame though. Piracy is killing comics collecting if you ask me - means the business model is not viable. Whats the point of picking up a comic book when its available within the week online? Not much to most people.

And people have switched to TPBs as well (including me). Just cant be asked to wait around for the next release month after month. Im getting more impatient as I get older smile.gif

Everyones moved on to TCGs and action figures. Was thinking it was sad, but then again times have changed and everything changes with it. Thats life I guess.

Bah, darn kids... tongue.gif

Well, TPBs are not exactly for the patient people! We have to wait until the damn series is over. tongue.gif

Comics even without downloads are slowly dying, because they are churning out crap stories. You feel cheated paying top dollars to find out that the storyline is indeed crap.

I won't exactly say downloads 'killed' the comics industry. Most of us collected comics not only for the story but for the 'comic' itself...

What caused the local comic industry to 'mati' was probably the exchange rates - comics were getting expensive. And the producers like Marvel and Image weren't helping themselves with 'special' editions, multiple covers, multi title crossovers blah blah blah. WHen i started i only had to buy two x-man titles a month, when i stopped there were at least ten concurrent titles.

And the rise of manga/anime. I wasn't here for around 10 years from '95 onwards so i don't really know what happened - b4 i left, anime was expensive (Comics Corner imported a dubbed Appleseed for me for around RM160!!!) but when i came back in '05, everything was dirt cheap - licensed locally perhaps?

To be honest, comics never stood a chance, especially the direct edition ones.

Licensed translated (BM) copies helped manga to grow. And the boom of the Japanese culture.

The English copies are still expensive to me, so I don't know. Right now, I still read comics, just that I get them through TPBs and not single issues anymore.

I rather read the series entirely in one sitting rather than wait week by week. Same goes to my TV series tongue.gif

Only nowadays that TPBKs is coming out consistently.

If you try to look for 80's or 90's TPBKs, it is mostly in story arcs. For example, X-Men.. you can get X-Men : Fall of the Mutants, X-Tinction Agenda, etc. Trust me, you can't get a nice run except Essential series which is in Black & White.

Now, it is collected every like 6 issues so that people can get it out-right. Still it depends on your preference. Individual issues or collected. For individual issues, if you order at your friendly neighbour comic store - should be no problem in getting a complete set monthly.

Happy collecting.

Kinokuniya. It retails for RM 170, but thanks to a 25% off coupon from The Star, I got it for RM 130. thumbup.gif

I've heard good things about JLI but I'm holding out for a paperback. I hate these premiere hardcovers Marvel & DC are putting out.

In Marvel Zombies volume 1, the zombies started with the Sentry being the first to be infected. Whoever gets bitten will turn into a zombie. Due to their super powered nature, the whole marvel universe became zombies in a matter of days. With only a handful of survivors led by Magneto.
As the uninfected slug it out with the infected, along came Galactus. He too was overwhelmed by the zombies. At the end of volume 1, some of the zombies already possess the power of Galactus after eating him. As they roam their known universe for food, No one is able to stop them.

In volume 2, the zombies return to their earth in search of food. As food is already scarce, there are a certain faction who is against eating the remaining survivors. Yup, zombies civil war...
They also fight over the teleporter which is able to send them to other parallel universe for food. End of volume 2 have Magneto teleporting the remaining zombies away to (maybe earth 616 as the ultimate universe does not cross the zombies universe for another 50 billion years). Watch out for Zombies volume 3..

Question time, at the end of issue 32 of Ultimate FF, Ultimate Dr Doom was teleported to the zombie universe. Since he is made of pure metal he cannot be infected but there is no mention of him in Marvel Zombies. Anybody out there have any ideas?
Since the source is terrestial and not supernatural in nature, there may be a way to reverse the process. It was revealed later on that Magneto was responsible for the outbreak. He may have the cure.
I still don't understand why wolverine is able to be infected since he has a healing factor. Same with thor and the hulk..

Hey Guys,
I'm a newbie to this thread. I used to collect almost everything under the sun. But I always have a soft spot for The Avengers & Uncanny X-men. I have a good run of Uncanny from #100 til almost the current issue. Anyway, just like everyone else, I'm an avid fan of Alex Ross. After Marvel, he did Kingdom Come. I was mesmerized!! Bought the original issues. Bought the Kingdom Come posters. Bought the hardcover (signed by Alex Ross). Bought the Kingdom Come trading cards incl. the signed card. Heck, I even bought the Superman statue that was purportedly sculpted by Alex Ross. But gone are those days. I still treasured all of his work though. Today, I've succumbed to the high exchange rate. Collecting comics is a declining hobby. The new generations are interested in something else. Sigh....

Added on June 25, 2008, 12:59 pmAttached are some of Alex Ross stuffs that I have. The hardcovers are someplace else, so are the trading cards. The framed Batman & Supes litho are signed by Alex Ross. Enjoy...
