Just finished Dabel Brothers' excellent adaptation of George RR Martin's The Hedge Knight.
The adaptation of the text is very true to the original and almost nothing is missed. The art is good, but it could've been much better. It's too much like most of the superhero comic books, I wanted something more fantasy-esque. The story obviously wasn't the problem anyway, since it was already great in novella form.
It's GRRM but in a comic book format.

Has anyone read X-Men First Class by Jeff Parker?
Just finished it, what a great read! I haven't read something that's this much fun in years, and I really like the fact that it's the original X-Men in the starring roles - and Scott & Jean are written the best that I've seen in quite a long time.

QUOTE(madmoz @ Jul 20 2007, 12:19 PM) pardon my ignorance (been away for a long time) but are kinokuniya ones 'direct edition's... you know, the ones from the comics specialty stores or are these now defunct? IIAM, the comics in Kinokuniya are book market editions, though there are some direct editions available too. Btw, a little update on the Y movie. Caruso & Ellsworth Adapting Y: The Last ManQUOTE New Line has set D.J. Caruso to direct and Carl Ellsworth to write the comic book adaptation Y: The Last Man for producers Chris Bender, JC Spink, Mason Novick and David Goyer, reports Variety.
The project reteams Caruso and Ellsworth following their work for Paramount/DreamWorks on Disturbia.
The story centers on a mysterious plague killing nearly all the world's male mammals overnight. A magician who's the only survivor among this group and his male pet monkey set out to find what may have wiped out the male chromosomes.
The comic "Y: The Last Man" was created by created by Brian K. Vaughn and Pia Guerra and published by Vertigo. Carl Ellsworth to write?? I thought Vaughan was penning it himself?

QUOTE(madstone @ Jul 30 2007, 11:05 AM) comic script and screenplay are 2 different thingsmay be Carl just write the screenplay in the movie D'oh! Of course it's two different things. It's just that last time Vaughan said he was writing the screenplay for the movie himself. Btw, new creative teams have been announced for Astonishing X-Men and Runaways. Astonishing - Warren Ellis and Simone Bianchi Runaways - Terry Moore Humberto Ramos Not sure about Ellis on Astonishing but I'm psyched about Moore on Runaways. Great news for fans of Starman. DC will be collecting the series in hardcover format and rumours are that its going to be oversized just like the Marvel OHCs. Starman: The Complete Saga HC, Vol. 1Word is that DC are going to release all their completed hit runs this way, Preacher and Transmet are rumoured to be next in line. BKV's Ex Machina is also getting a deluxe treatment according to this link. Hopefully Y will follow suit. This post has been edited by screech: Nov 9 2007, 09:27 AM

Checked out Kino earlier today, have to say I liked the old comics layout better.
Picked up Elephantmen Volume 1. Haven't managed to read it yet but the presentation is first class.
Besides Heroes, other comics going for 30% off include both the Spidey back in black HCs, Justice Vol. 3, 52, Shortcomings and Cairo.
Added on November 29, 2007, 11:19 pmJust finished Elephantmen. Brilliant stuff. Can't wait for the next collection.

New OSHCs titles that are coming from Marvel. These books are planned to be solicited mid-2008 through late 2009.
Bolded the ones I plan on getting.
Daredevil Vol.1 by Ed Brubaker, Michael Lark and various. Immortal Iron Fist Vol.1 by Ed Brubaker, Matt Faction and David Aja. Nextwave Agents of H.A.T.E. Vol.1 by Warren Ellis and Stuart Immonen. X-Men Messiah Complex by Ed Brubaker, Peter David and Mike Carey. Astonishing X-Men Vol.2 by Joss Whedon and John Cassiday. Spider-man One More Day by Joe Quesada. New Avengers Illuminati by Brian Michael Bendis and Jim Cheung. House of M the Marvel Universe by various. Civil War Vol.2 by various. (Vol.1 was announced earlier) Civil War Frontline by Paul Jenkins. Punisher War Journal Vol.1 by Matt Fraction. World War Hulk by Greg Pak and John Romita Jr. Daredevil Omnibus Vol.1 by Brian Michael Bendis and Alex Maleev. Iron Man Vol.1 by Warren Ellis, Adi Granov and others. The Sentry Vol.1 by Paul Jenkins, Jae Lee and John Romita Jr. Ultimate Vision by Mike Carey and Brandon Peterson. Ultimate Power by various. Annihilation Omnibus by various. Glad to see Iron Fist and Nextwave up there, I skipped the trades in hopes for an OSHC edition. Disspointed that there's no AXM Omnibus, apparently its been replaced by the Bendis Daredevil Omnibus. Guess I'll have to pick up the first OSHC now.
