main point here is that I just had my hands on the Civil War TPB, and wow! blown away! really intense, not a load of cosmic mumbo-jumbo that needs re-reading every now and then (case-in-point: Earth X, Universe X, etc + Infinite Crisis) and am looking forward to the next one to be out in TPB, namely the current Capt A series. [/quote] Capt. A - is it the series where Capt America dead? BTW Anyone collecting 52 and Countdown weekly comic? |

You are collecting the early comics mostly from Valiant.
It was a huge interest at one time then fizzles out as fast as the Image bru-haha in the early days. Maybe the Deathmate would be saleable. |

Well that depends on your point of view.
If you try to collect all the run thru conventional comic - it gonna costs you a bomb since few of the "HOT" issue costs more. Furthermore, some of the issue you will not possible to get it. Omnibus is kinda inexpensive and complete issues. I remember there is a Grant Morrison run on New X-Men, about 36+ issues in New X-Men Omnibus which costs around RM300+. Cheap or expensive? Anyway you will get full series. |

Phalanx Convenant. In that time it is an intro for Generation-X.
Well nowadays, it is the big Cosmic Event in Marvel. Where the space adventure - Annihilation just show how deadly these dudes are. |

You can get in Kino or Borders in Trades.
Annihilation Wave 1 is about Negative Zone dude called Annihilus taking out the Skrulls I think. Wave 2 is about those Phalanx taking over the space. |

Generation-X lasted a while with Emma Frost and belated Banshee in charge.
It is later cancelled like Mutant-X, X-Man, Excalibur, etc. citing low sales. |

Well in Malaysia, it is hard to sell comic (s) especially signed version.
Not much taker. I reckoned you got more chances selling off Gila2, Gempak. etc. Added on September 29, 2007, 8:02 pmCapt America Omnibus on Sales now. Collecting # 1 - 25 till he died in Civil War. This post has been edited by eric.tangps: Sep 29 2007, 08:02 PM |

QUOTE(thewayiam @ Nov 4 2007, 02:19 AM) hey hey...i kinda started collecting comics last year oni..so...considered noob..i oni collect TPBs but recently i read that TPBs actually will not appreciate in value...are there places that provide comic delivery or like...they could reserve a comic for u around subang? Well i had been collecting comics for some time now. thanks! Anyway, if you wish to collect comics for reading, it is ok but if you keen to get collect for $$$ value, better forget it. In Malaysia, you will have hard time selling. It is the simple principal of willing buyer vs willing seller scenario. Added on November 4, 2007, 5:31 pm QUOTE(gunblade99 @ Oct 26 2007, 08:43 AM) What Civil War? The 7 issues Civil War or the related? Civil War is 7 issues mini-series but I don't remember it costs so much. Maybe it is available in trades, I am not very sure.Maybe you might be interested in X-Men : Messiah Complex or Ultimates 3. QUOTE(thewayiam @ Nov 4 2007, 08:10 PM) lol...i see...and btw....im a huge x-men fan..but...other than ultimate x-men...which i have collected all...the other comics like..decimation..tie in with uncanny x-men...and i dont know what chapter of uncanny x-men is still available in stores...the old one..not the new age one Depends on what you are interested. Old one as in way earlier version? If you are talking about Chris Claremont run, you can get it cheap in Essential X-Men Series - costs around RM 50++ but in black and white. Please take note, his style of writing is old school and that is why until today none of his comics can be properly collected into 6 issues Tpbk. He is the longest X-Men writer. His bios is available @ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Claremont Unless you are referring to more recent X-Men. Check out X-Men : Supernova HC, you might like it. It is by Mike Carey. |

I have posted in Garage Sales, sadly no takers so I don't pursue further with more listings.
http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=534662&hl=comics I am staying in Penang, I purchase my comics from a shop in Penang. As for Trades, scout around @ Borders / Kino. Sometimes it is offered @ 25% discounts like my New X-Men Omnibus. |

Drain by Image is interesting. Bomb Queen Trades is good too.
As for X-Men, it is Messiah Complex for me. Been a while since a good story in X-Men. Hopefully it is a good payoff. |

Age of Apocalypse is a good read but it is a pocket universe event of What If. Happens when Legion accidentally killed Prof X.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Age_Of_Apocalypse So, there is little connection to X-Men. Basically you can get a complete set on TPBKs and not feeling lost. About Messiah Complex :- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X-Men:_Messiah_Complex |

Messiah Complex is a major event for X-Related Titles and supposed to have a serious ramification to the X-World as a whole. So you can either collect the mini-series in the back pages of all X-Related Titles or wait for a massive HC Trade. I believed that it will come out as HC Trade once it is duly completed like Endangered Species.
House of M is a mini-series where Scarlett Witch wished there is no MUTANTs on earth. So if you got into that mini-series, of course you will be kinda lost in it. ( Source : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/House_of_m ) As for the difference between Uncanny X-Men and Ultimate X-Men is that Ultimate X-Men is based on present premise of what if X-Men is formed now compared to the early days of X-Men. The idea of how different the X-Men is the key-selling point. As for Jean Grey, well she is dead in the end of Grant Morrison's run ( Source http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Here_Comes_Tomorrow : get New X-Men Omnibus for his run - cheaper as it compiles all his run in New X-Men ) while in Ultimate, she is alive. All titles with Ultimate is a different premise with the conventional Marvel titles. Yes, Wolverine is a member of New Avengers since New Avengers # 1 by Bendis and is still a member today. Well everyone loves Logan, so Marvel put him everywhere and hopefully he is not a skrull ( Secret Invasion of Skrull coming up on 2008 - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secret_Invasion ). Hope this clarify everything. |
