I am using Celcom 38. Didn't have a problem in my Note 5.
But when I switched to Sony XZ, I have the same problem as you. I solved it by switching from LTE to WCDMA.
Data speed is slower but doesn't bother me coz I'm mostly on wifi.

Hiya, what case is everyone using now? I am still on the default rubbery transparent case.
I'm also using the rubbery transparent case.. there is not many OEM making case for this phone But well, the advantages of the rubbery transparent case is it is cheap and easily take off when i want to wash my phone.

Nice. I also managed to take many pictures of my son running around. There's even one picture of him jumping mid air that i manage to capture. But can't share those pictures here.

one thing hesitate, the volume button at the botton and so as the camera button.. good and bad for the bottom, but surely doubt why the button there.. easily to hit it!
LDAC is an upgrade for bluetooth audio, hires audio sounds slightly better on bluetooth , still cant compared to wired but its good.
for non Hires Audio, sounds similar using either APT-X or AAC bluetooth encoding.
I would still prefer a headphone over bluetooth headphones all the time.
however, for the 100ABN, if one were to get it isn't wrong either, because of the almost top class noise cancelling. EDIT : and it has cable support too.

of course..nothing beats wired headphone/iems. But I think MDR-100abn is a good headset which support both LDAC Bluetooth and wired . The problem with wired 100abn is , it sounds awful wired if u don't turn the headset on. The sound becomes dull, but when u turn on the headset and used the wired connection, the sound is soo different.
Used the MDR-100Abn on my iPhone 7 n I think it uses the AAC Bluetooth codec, sounds quite good.
Tried using the XZ with my XBA-A3 for wired, sounds quite good.
still playing around with the camera. So far its quite good.
This XZ really changed my perspective on sony phone
my previous sony was a Z3, the back and front glass panel shattered in 2 different occasion. got fed up with the sony phone after that

Do everyone here having the double tap to work problem whereby the double tap to wake doesnt work properly, or just few of us? you have to tap multiple time to wake the display and some time it doesnt work at all.
I saw there is a person from XDA Forum (post #5)had the same problems and the problems totally gone after he/she replaced with a new unit. Now i am wondering if this is software or hardware problem.. Will send to sony centre to ask about it when i'm free.

Just notice sometimes I am unable to receive phone call. Will try to change to wcdma only to see how it goes. Thanks for the tips. Double tap doesn't work all the time. I like this features but works around 50% only.
Forest Blue. But the rest of the colors ain't bad either. I personally liked Titanium Silver but Forest Blue caught my attention even more. Nope, Z3 is the loudest and has the best sound quality.
I feel the pink colour is the prettiest one. Although not suit me lol.

I mean ringing volume.. I tried both Z2 and Z3 before, end up I got the Z2 for its cheaper price and its louder ringing volume

100% agree on the dynamic range, and i feel capturing at 4:3 ratio produced better photos i hope sony can enable RAW capture prefer to edit on computer using lightroom as sony can sometimes over process photos

BTW, anyone can suggest a good casing? mostly i found online are rather bland, and mostly TPU i'm not against TPU, but some can really feel cheap in hand

dont use those unbranded cheap cable to charge ur phone, it is not good for the phone..

Then warning message appears and camera app starts to freeze. This is not a pleasant experience.

It's normal. It's an ambient light sensor, which serves as auto brightness. Try enter a dim room and turn on/off adaptive brightness. Welcome on board the club.

did anyone root the XZ? Previously on X2m need to do some backup of the "some secret key" do we need to do it now? Will rooting the XZ loses the camera features?
ordered the devilcase 9H back tempered glass and also the straight hairline back skin, so most likely looking for bumper-style casing, but current selection is kinda limited.
dont really want to get some cheap casing as i'm worry that it will trap the heat at the back of the phone, when charging.
And, the first bug i discovered - at certain occasions, it will delay when waking up the phone.

no, because it is an offer from Sony Malaysia, not from 3rd party retailers. those on lazada are 3rd party retailers.

Just noticed there's improvement on the adaptive brightness. Seems like it's not so aggressive now. Previously it keep setting brightness to minimum even though the condition is a little dark. Also now I am able to overwrite the brightness manually and the brightness will stay on at that level.

Seems the memory usage hasn't changed - the 1.5GB used was just after startup. Now its back to 2.1GB average.
Double-tap is a bit fussy - but its ok - second try always works. Double-tap to sleep works as always.
Nougat also takes away the live bubble wallpaper I quite enjoyed - the new Xperia live wallpaper is just plain dull.

Basically you can tap anywhere but I always tap the center when holding phone. If lying on desk, I will tap anywhere.

depends on the app itself, actually. the default SMS app and whatsapp doesnt have this function built in.
if the glass protector has oleophobic coating, it will be very slippery like how previous glass backed Sony phones. the coating functioned to repel water and resist fingerprints.
so how was the battery so far? do you guys on the location service? Did you guys use the stamina mode?

in a way, yes, i'm happy to read about that, but at the same time, i hope Sony will do improvement on their software as well, such as the IQ on their camera (honestly their camera has so much potential, but their software really is keeping their hardware back).
i_bony, did you install any third party launcher or lockscreen? i install next lockscreen so that it will auto turn on screen when there are notifications, but it kinda drain the battery. So i removed it. Now i just use the stock home launcher and lockscreen, just use icon pack. the other app that seems to drain my battery is google hangout, which i didnt even launch since i got the XZ. i disabled that app and see if i can get better battery life

u will find improvements in XZ compare to Z3.. but Android is too much competitive.. you might need to go to some retails shop walk around and decide yourself.. but if you are just look for sony xperia, i may give you some quick comparison with your z3.

I myself also switched to Sony since camera phone era W700i > W995 > Vivaz > Xperia S > Xperia Z2 > Xperia Z(gf) > Xperia XZ(gf)
I would say the XZ rear Camera performance for photo was good and sufficient to me, it has really wide angle lens to to fit most in the shot, it wasn't that bad like what reviews says, just for enthusiast it may not be enough, especially to those who keep on doing the 100% zoom in, it may not be as crisp as the S7 Edge due to the lack of OIS.
Meanwhile true strength of XZ that everyone miss out is the Video performance, I find the video camera performance especially the stabilization is above average
ps: The Phone front facing camera is awesome as well! Wide enough until I don't need a selfie stick, at the sametime perform better than those self proclaim "Selfie master" or whatsoever

The phone also freq freezes after the latest update, prolly due to the high ram memory usage by android OS (avg abt 1.9gb).
i guess that's it for me, even my old ip6 never hv this sort of shit problems. going to sony to get the phone checked/ repaired and sell it off.

Did you check the headphone jack hole if anything stuck in there. Btw how much do you plan to sell it?

so, after using all Sonys all these while, I am thinking you got a lemon phone. try RMA it and sell to me. I will take a sony/android any day compared to fruit phone.

If u face freq freeze after update, i suggest u do a factory reset.

Battery performance is pretty decent in my opinion. Moderate usage can last 2 days + without charge, atleast it best out my Z2 which is already quite good imo.
The camera heat problem only occur if you constantly taking photos & video under direct hot sun

currently using nilkin tempered glass. it doesnt cover the whole screen, and as long as it is applied at the center, you wont notice much of the "bubbles" at the side edges. and it comes with plastic protector for the back and lens, but I'm not using as I'm using devilcase back and lens tempered glass

Try delete the registry and register your fingers again, and make sure it's not damp.

But not to forget the goods, fast fingerprint la, front speaker but not loud enough la, looks beautiful la...oh oso the screen sometimes after click the unlock button the screen jus stays black and if i cli k again it goes to camera apps hahaha

I did not have any of these weird slowdown issues. My phone is definitely smooth as butter if you asked me. What suggested me is that you may got yourself a lemon unit. I suggest you send it for warranty or exchange a new one at the place you purchased.
Also, don't use STAMINA mode (my personal opinion) as it will slow your phone down.

I don't need a curved screen protector, but i'm looking for a tempered glass one which is slightly wider than the free one given by Sony.

I am using a flat temper glass one bought from taobao. But there is still about 1mm on the side of the display not covered. Bear in mind that for xz, the glass on the screen starts to curve at the edge of the display. So i doubt any flat temper glass will fully cover the display 100%.
But having said that i too hope there still is some brand make it to cover 100% of the display

no such lagging on my phone, even when the phone is on stamina mode, it won't lag like yours, you might wanna try to send it back to check

Hmm - don't have these issues on my XZ - purchased online from Gem5.
Have you updated to Android 7/Nougat and performed a reset?
My XZ is a zippy fast - I have ALL my apps on local default storage - only music/videos on SD card. Stamina mode only activates on 15% - otherwise don't turn it on for normal use. I don't turn off ANY background apps at all.

Thanks for the update on the Sony store RM60 curved screen protector - almost bought it - but it was out of stock.
Been looking for a screen protector for some time - and probably have to wait for a long time.. will just give up on screen protectors for this XZ.
So I'm using both SCFS10 and SCFT10 - change between them depending on where I go as the SCFT10 rubberized material attracts A LOT OF dust. But both are great flip cases.

have you been experiencing this since you got the phone? or you only experiencing the issue lately? how about any 3rd party launcher / lock screen that you might have installed?
other than double tap to wake, i found the phone very snappy and fluid. only experience laggy FB and chrome app, is when my data connectivity is bad

My stamina mode turn on at 15% battery. So will lag when it's on. Otherwise very smooth...

Then i start to find the reason, and i found it now. I used few hardware tools and benchmark apps. I found Sony disable 2 CPU in nougat.

Nope it's normal when phone is idle it just use 2 core to run. When you touch it or open intensive apps it will auto on the core.. the lag might be caused by the major upgrade from 6 to 7.. just try to perform software repair through PC and observe again.. all your data will be lost, make sure backup everything to your Google email first..

Idle won't hide CPU info. It probably bugs either the system hide it or it is totally disabled. I saw the XDA and few users reported similar issue. I am thinking to downgrade to marshmallow.

My friend that using xz said android 7 is more power efficient.. he can get 5 hours of sot easily. Since you going to downgrade, why don't try to perform software repair and see..
My friends don't install those benchmark apps and CPU z so I can't compare directly.. most CPU will be sleep while not using..

I updated the latest nougat, it solved the problem. But i will see how is the performance in long term.

It could have been the case. Need other user did the same to see if they have similar problem. Did you managed to find the solution?
where can i get the full stock rom the latest nougat specific for our country? is it available or we can/need to use from others region?
to get stock rom, always go with xperia companion for our pc.. u can install xperia companion through connect our xperia phone to PC and prompt for installation.
or else, you may download flashtool and choose to download other region firmware if u like..

After update, my friend said the pokemon go graphic is much smoother. Seem like the vulkan is running now.
great to hear that.. Adreno indeed will support Vulkan API.. but not sure how apps developer fully utilitise this vulkan api.. not sure Qualcomm will support vulkan api for adreno 430 which embedded in 810 CPU..

No it should not. My friend 1+3 do not work that way. This should be either bug of having problem to display sleeping cpu, or the cpu really sleep and didn't wake up.
And from my experience, doing benchmark, the mark is getting higher after few tests. But after nougat update, i found it getting lower marks. Seem like the cpu went sleeping and won't wake.

if you guys ran antutu info tab, you can also see that core 2 and 3 is "sleeping". heck, even antutu saying the rear camera is only 8.3MP while all this while i set it to 23MP.

I had this issue. But yesterday's update fixed it. Now I can see that the cores are not sleeping. Not sure if display issue or really sleeping, but at it looks to be fine now.

Not sure any third party converter to type c can perform the same performance like original type c cable or not..
I am using Huawei and Remax convertor + original Sony cable. All of them are just the same. Anyway, only high amp need use thicker cable, but Sony limits the phone to 9V 1.5A, so basically any cable/convertor will do.

UCH20 just a normal charger. My z5 premium also come with UCH20 with 5V 1.5A only..
Aukey QC 2.0 or 3.0 charger definitely a lot faster than this stock charger..
LOL, that thing already start on sale since day 1 in Malaysia. It costs RM159 if I remembered correctly. I bought it, find it not that convenient as Z3 and older years. However, good thing is that it doesn't hurt the charging port very much, since you can slip it in smoothly as there's no clip locking the charging port.

There is some way to remove bloatware for 6.0 with dirty cow. 7.0+ is no, and latest dec security alr fixed the dirty cow.

This strange issue could be bugs on nougat. And i guess ur phone running on nougat too. I've read some complaint on sony forum about this issue too.. Time n date reset after restart the phone..

i read from china forum, mostly they have mentioned FB/Messenger are cuplrit.. but personally think is about google play services.. but i dont know..
i'm so worried at that time cause i just bought and used new Jabra headset.. thought the Jabra assist app caused the issue.. but my gf & parents also complaints to me. i found a lot of complaints thread in china forum.. right now is normal as usual already..

I would like to know where can I buy Sony passive noise cancelling earphones as I noticed when using an active Noise Cancelling earphones, the audio settings on NC is grayed out. It's the bundled earphones are NC?
Also realize that when switch off and on back the handphone, the date/time will reset. This is because WhatsApp prompt error. Wait for a while then will back to normal.
Tried to ask Sony Center in Midvalley on the passive NC earphones. Only active NC earphones sold. The passive NC earphones is mostly bundled with Walkman.
Then I remembered that I have Walkman NWZ-X1050 which have passive NC earphones. Tested and it worked.
It means this beloved phone is running smooth with less complaint🤣..

For me, it just OK phone for day to day usage. Overrated triple sensor camera by Sony which at the end still underwhelming camera quality in typical Sony syok sendiri style. It served me pretty well as temporary phone between returning Note7 while waiting for Pixel arrival. Overall forgetable experience. Now all phone as in my siggy list running Nougat, this is the most underwhelming phone and now collecting dust in the drawer. Sometimes when getting older people will be less complaint in forum. =)

cause if i select 20MP (16:9) or 23MP (4:3) and try to select the manual scene like handheld twilight, it will prompt a message saying that the resolution i selected is not supported. I need to select 8MP instead.

No way, because it's a software limitation. I would suggest stick with 8MP. Not only it will preserve the details but also save your storage.
Yaya.. From my initial impression, the phone case really can provide full protection.. But it's not a good case for daily usage.. Cannot even put into pocket..

Sony been making flagships with soft external speakers... they said the waterproof is the culprit.. but other waterproof smartphone is louder than this... What's more they're not stereo speaker like ours

Yeaa... Thought something is wrong with my phone... But at least the speakers sounds richer than other phones. Although low volume..

For original firmware i think there r no way to increase the sound except u use a custom rom.

Previously, there is a setting called xLoud which increases the volume but now it's embedded into clear audio+ For DSEE HX, it is to upscale mp3 music up to near high res.

Hmm are the functions of clear audio+ and dsee hx not worthy to switch on? Those mostly has effects when using earphones and headphones but not external speakers.

yes. both are more specifically for headphones use. so both aren't worthy to switch on for speakers.
the deign look ugly( especially those thick top and bottom bezel) . I prefer the z5 premium design
Actually not much difference between z5p and XZP.. just design language towards to new side curved edge screen. Seriously Sony delivered quite a good IPS panel since z5 series. They are serious now. Packed with 835 and 4gb with exclusive camera sensor and features. Looking forward to the camera review of XZs or XZP

I still think z5 design is better despite of its outdated and hot snapdragon 810....

Yes owning it.. no issue so far except recent nougat update have few bugs. Believe me, 810 in z5 series is a lot better than z3+.. dual heat pipe did a good job and conduct heat and dissipate the heat very fast

With XZs 4GB in just four months I was wondering why can't they just skip this model and put it on the XZ? I dunno what to say about Sony's strategy anymore..

Honestly I do not believe the theory of One Model to rule all. There are technically 4 different range in the market: Compact (<5"), Standard (5-5.3"), Phablet (5.4-5.7") aka Premium Series, Tab (5.8"+) aka Ultra Series. There is nothing wrong of giving 4 top of the spec devices every year.
And, due to the nature of product development, you won't release all models in one shot as this would give problem to the entire development/production/marketing/sales.
XZs is a facelift of XZ similiar to what the Apple way of saying IP6 to IP6s. I think now is either you wait for the XZ price to come down (they surely need to clear off the old stock), or wait a bit more to get the XZs.

Yes indeed. We buy what we need. If you start chasing tech, it's a never ending game. Also if you choose to wait for better spec, it's also a never ending waiting game. Conclusion just but what you need and what appeal to you.
Tech in smartphone is quite mature now. Even a s810 is still working good as of now. 3gb ram... It's just a number. I personally do not feel any lag using xz as my daily phone.
On flagship... To be fair xperia x was never a flagship phone from Sony. X performance sees only limited release in certain country. Not even release in Malaysia. So in 2016 there is only 1 true flagship model from Sony and that's xz.
Come 2017, i think the real flagship is xzp. But that won't be release until late may or June. Xzs, i don't think it's a flagship as it carry the tech spec of 2016. Just a minor update just like the z3+.

I agree that one model won't rule all. But not killing its own product just 4 months old. Apple release S version after 1 year. Sony didn't announce XP was a flagship, but the specs was the highest during that time. It should not be a mid-range. For the previous version, it is not so "hurt" because it still consider an upgrade, like Z1 to Z2 to Z3.... But this time, XZ to XZs is an facelift lol.
When I call a friend using xz loud speaker, I notice the loud speaker is very soft and the sound isn't come out from the front. Anyone else have this problem?

Unfortunately, With loud speaker calls, only one speaker is firing, opposed of 2 when playing medias. So, this is normal.
this is why i always align the cable before inserting and make sure no objects between the port and cable.
EDIT : Ixsun seems to be quite efficient nowadays. a customer feedback that he got his phone 10 days after sending in.
SEMS can repair waterproof phone in Ipoh, while Ixsun must send back KL. Ixsun told me they need 2 weeks, SEMS said 2 days to check, and 1 week to repair.
I took decision to send SEMS, but i had bad experience with them before.
Just got my XZ yesterday, gotta say the Forest Blue colour looks even more amazing up close. Changed from a Z2 to this.
One thing though, the tempered glass screen protector that came with the phone....it just looks funny on the XZ. Doesn't fully cover to the sides. I know this is cause of the curved edge but....my slight OCD is kicking in looking at that incompleteness

i used those temper glass sp that cover the whole screen before and do not recommend it because the sensitivity on the side of the screen will be compromised and it is very reflective because the glass do not actually stick directly onto the screen. so for curved screen, if you prefer temper glass type of sp, it's better to use the non full cover ones.

I see, cause right now, the screen protector I have doesn't cover enough to the sides, so sometimes when I'm typing there's like this edge/ridge where the screen protector ends.

right now i am using a glass sp covering just 1mm short from each side but it does not affect gaming or typing or whatsoever

I am using Devil Case's full glass sp with AGC, and the sensitivity is not affected. If one were to purchase a full glass SP, this is the brand to go.

Do you have any issue with the USB-c port? I have heard it is very loose. Did you try to lay your device flat and try pressing each corner?
Been using it since pre-order. Alongside with Devilcase Alum Bumper, no issue whatsever.
As for signal wise, my area had poor signal (blame telco) and having the bumper or not does not make it better or worst

Same as yuhhaur, the phone does turn warm but not serious. The battery temperature clocked at 40C when browsing under hot sun with mobile data. Meanwhile, the CPU does not go beyond 50C.

yes, with a setting. at home screen, tap and hold anywhere other than the icons and turn on auto rotation. i've read your post at Z3 thread also, so supposedly it should.

damn mm z3 does not rotate at all, is this some kind of sony`s coding problem? or is it my phone ? i miss those auto rotate screen as they are really useful for driving.

Try dial *#*#7378423#*#* and check gyroscope. If the cube does not rotate, means the phone gyro sensor is defective. If it does, try turn auto rotate on and off again.

also gotten the 9H back protector with lens and flash protector after applying the phone is much more reflective and no longer have that matte finish to it but it is not as slippery as i thought it would be

I find my xz is laggy when playing some of the latest mobile games while my friend who using samsung or huawei dun have this issue.....
Got a bit dissapointed with my xperia xz....

Same. Especially when the phone become warm, greatly reduced the cpu performance. But seem like only happen after android 7. Android 6 was better performance.
