If cost of a goods is a deciding factor, then merchants have rights to decide what cards to accept
*
If you don't want to accept AMEX, just contact the merchant acquirer provider to disable the acquiring facility. This would ensure any attempts to make use of AMEX would be unsuccessful.

However, definitely agree that if the merchant has indicated clearly "No AMEX" prior to payment and the payer forced an AMEX payment through, the merchant should be allowed to void the transaction. But not enabling the AMEX facility would prevent this scenario from happening in the first place which avoids unnecessary conflicts.

It might be unfair to void transactions if the merchant has not indicated "No AMEX" prior to payment as some consumers may decide where to spend based on the merchants' acceptance of AMEX.

AMEX typically offers better rewards and has a loyal user-base which takes into consideration AMEX acceptance when choosing where to shop.

Anyone managed to add the AmBank credit cards into Apple Pay?

I tried to do so, but it says to contact the card issuer for more information.

Called AmBank as well, and they said my credit card has no issue....

Wow, can confirm that POS machine is exactly the same as the one installed at KTM stations (didn't take photos to keep low profile)

EDIT: Based on the photo provided, can also pretty much confirm this is the model.
And according to the data sheet, this machine is certified for EMV L1, L2 & EMV Contactless L1.
Therefore quite likely supporting Apple Pay shouldn't be of any technical issue at all.
What's more interesting is that this machine even gives chip-in and swipe options in case your card just couldn't wave.

I just hope they implement like on public transports in SG. Tap and off u go first, charge u one shot in total in the middle of the night. (Is this call VLP111?)
If they are not, imagine the time taken to even just approve the transaction. It's going to be slower than dinosaur TnG.
Worst if they allow eWallets. For sure tons of ppl will NEVER open the app in advance first. Please I do hope they disable eWallets usage on these machines.

Should make it a yearly thing where if we don't pay it back, automatically they'll add the sum into the yearly taxation time or just blacklist them like in eCCRIS.
Or the system should block them from allowing them to pass if they have a certain amount not paid yet.

But as u say, lack of enforcement. cry.gif

Want to get fellow forumers experience with using Apple Pay at the petrol pump (Shell in my case), specifically those using AMEX. When using AP with Visa credit/debit, after refuelling, immediately in my recent transactions in wallet will show the actual amount filled (not the RM200 pre-auth). However, when using AP with AMEX credit, it only ever shows RM200 as the amount, and never updates to the actual amount in the wallet app. Anyone facing this similar issue? Or is Visa's network "superior" to do these kinds of updates? Both my cards are from Maybank.

Yes, the Amex in Apple Pay always shows RM200 and doesn't update to the real amount.

Guys, by any chance anyone knows when Wise would enable Apple Pay for Malaysian issued cards?

Would be really convenient to use on foreign public transport like in Singapore and the UK when travelling.

any new leaks on which new banks/FI will support Apple Pay?

pretty disappointing when the only addition after launch was only Amex and HSBC, and only CIMB committed to launching in 2H23 doh.gif

Maybe around September/October I guess. I would say the progress on KTMs are doing well so far, was able to see technicians working on the new gate machines from time to time, and also more than half of them are already assembled & being turned on for now. So probably they’re just left with the software optimisation works for now. And not to mention the POS terminal I spotted are also exactly the same as the one at NPE tolls, so this probably indicates that procurement are synced between LLM and MOT.

As for RapidKL I don’t have any clue but based on previous interviews from their management, it seems that they do not need any hardware upgrade as their existing terminals are capable of natively support open payment system.

At least I’m happy to see they all are doing the work so good so far.

This is a great news!

Also for those that are travelling to Japan soon, you might face physical Suica & PASMO card shortages. However, you can get a digital version directly from Apple Wallet by paying for it with Apple Pay (tho some reports mentioned previously that Visa may not work for Suica purchases & reloads)
