PBB high chance will not jump onboard, low number of card users and also probably don't want to revenue split the MDR with Apple

PBB is one of the most outdated local bank. Just look at their online banking page.

they did participated samsung pay programme...who knows, they will participate apple pay programme in one day!

Well to be frank, at the AGM, which is meant for shareholders of PB, their main aim is to be able to make money from the stock either through capital appreciation or through increased dividends. Looking from an outside view of PB's business, having AP is definitely not a core business and their cards business is more of a way to also say that I have credit cards for my customers just to tick a box. Their sources of revenue and profit are definitely in other areas and if I were in their shoes, would put more focus on that parts of the business as well.

QUOTE(xiaoxiaoshen @ Aug 11 2022, 11:52 AM)

will this pressure them? i bet later they will disable to leave comment.

Thanks for insight!
pbb is still one of the best cashback card out there (many other bank start reducing cashback/criteria) despite they being old school/outdated. meanwhile i'll continue tap on my physical card and hope pbb on board one day cool2.gif cool2.gif

What u mean no need unlock? Once you put passcode it already unlock ma. For security reasons unlocking is always needed, u cannot use apply pay on watch unless watch is unlocked.

For iphone if u no unlock and u double click side button it will ask for double click side button + face/touchid/passcode before can use.

For watch if u no passcode to unlock first, and u double tap side button it will keep asking for passcode. So always need authentication.
*
I mentioned it there right, once you wear you Apple Watch of course the first thing you do is put in your passcode, lol

Then Apple Pay can use anytime by double clicking the side button, which part not clear

on iPhone you will still need authentication for every transaction when using AP even iPhone is unlocked.

on AW, you will need to put passcode once(make sure AW is on your wrist) then you can use Apple Pay without doing authentication anymore.

Interesting experience.
Members here may see the same experience happening to them when using BSC parking.

Enter - single tap., to exit - tap twice (1st tap will not raise the boom)
*
that is the sequence, first is to validate and show u the total parking, 2nd is to pay and exit

except that AW seems to ask for double click side button from time to time..it is not permanent authenticated, like just now i tried, if i double click side button on AW after a while it will ask u double click again like there is a timeout or something.

As a side note, I also tried the express travel mode it doesn’t work on either iphone or AW. It will still ask for double click side button. I’m pretty sure express mode only for supported terminals at public transport places that support it, unless someone managed to make it work i’d like to know how also.

My express mode worked on 7-11 castles white wired terminal, I tapped and it brought up AP, just needed another round of manual authentication(entering PIN cause masked face ID isn't available), I haven't tried on AW, which I'll try when I get another chance to go to a place with a terminal

That's not Express Transit, it’s just regular contactless AP. Express Transit mode require no authentication and only works on supported terminal (which none in Malaysia does afaik).

Agree. The fact that it doesn’t even have any social media page (Twitter, FB) already enough to tell how outdated their business operation is. And remember, swiping back to long long ago comment in this thread someone who was PB shareholder did ask about AP in the AGM and got the most *don’t care* kind of answer.

Even if someone managed to reach them out and ask them about the same question again, I bet this time skali they’d straight away say “… sorry, we do not have any intention to participate in Apple Pay programme at anytime soon”.

yea this is the right answer because if u look at apple website it says that malaysia doesn’t have support for express mode. Also note, that the wording is very specific in the apple wallet apps, it says things like “public transport” and “supported terminals”, of which visa mastercard payments card are not. From the wording in the apps + apple website I’m pretty sure express is really only for public transport in places that support it, which malaysia doesn’t.

AP or SP not allowed at Amway HQ. Although they have pay wave terminal but only allowed to use the physical card. Maybe because of the card number masking.

I did a test on this express / transit mode just now at 7-11 - I tagged a different card to the Express Travel (using Wise) while my regular Apple Pay (is using Mastercard).

When I tapped my iPhone to the reader (without pressing the power button twice), the iPhone detected the terminal and the Wallet interface came up but it proceeded to request me to authenticate (via FaceID) to enable payment on my regular Apple Pay (Mastercard) and not the Wise card. So the express/transit mode did not work here.
