QUOTE(nokia2003 @ Jul 19 2022, 03:30 PM) The pre-registration and pre-authorisation step is only applicable to pilot users. Upon go-live, users will be able to add their respective plastic(s) seamlessly. There will be a PR/announcement during the first two weeks of August 2022.It will be the former SWEET! Can’t wait for the first 2 weeks of August 2022! Fingers cross everyone! At least 13 days to go!

QUOTE(yenchenje @ Jul 19 2022, 06:18 PM) Wow, I actually got something right for once haha. But point me out if I’m wrong here, if I had to guess, the pilot/pre-release period will be anywhere from 2 weeks - 1/2 months, and official launch will be after that period? So fastest date for it to go live to the general public will be start of Oct/Nov? I am getting mixed responses from various stakeholders. We will just have to play by ear during the PR/announcement then, but it can be as early as August 2022 (don't wish to get anyone's hopes up too high).

Interesting, does that mean the pilot period might be shorter and it'll get released to the general public faster? If not, I hope it won't be too hard for anyone to sign up their card for the pilot period for their cards. *praying* Tiger pull through please

Will Apple Pay comes with certain benefits (such as points collection like S*Pay) or will be just for convenience?

Never see b4 AP has any benefits other than convenience only. Those benefits could probably be handled by respective FI to attract ppl to use AP.

QUOTE(ericlaiys @ Jul 19 2022, 07:31 PM) right time when AW8 to release. Should be Sept timeframe AP doesn't really care what product is launching soon to be released. Some countries (can't remember) can even launch AP out of the blue when it's the tech draught season. Prepare for the massive sudden spike of AW7 and SE purchases. Also, AW8.

Please note that, this is my own personal opinion. This post has been edited by nokia2003: Jul 19 2022, 10:38 PM

Patience is a virtue

QUOTE(WaferMaker @ Jul 19 2022, 06:14 PM) I think the pay is mainly for small amount fast checkout purpose. I don’t think you want a big amount transaction with simply ‘wave’ over the POS terminal. I have been using the pay for my daily needs in both SG and MY without any problems. I believe this will be the same as in MY when it is launched later. Thanks, I was hoping that I would be able to travel without my cards but since there is a limit, it looks like credit cards won't really be going away soon. Still, I like the convenience for smaller items.

Getting Started

Glad to finally see some updates. I have just tried to add my HSBC card to Apple Pay but rejected as issuer does not support it yet XD I have used SamsungPay a long time ago and have been using Apple Pay in SG ,looking forward to finally see it seriously entering MY. The accelerated adoption of QR based payment seriously slowed down the adoption of AP imo
For those concerned about transaction limits, it’s likely the same limit with paywave limit. Currently if the transaction cost exceeds rm250 they’ll just ask for PIN number.
Many times the shop staffs told me not to wave when the transaction exceeds rm250, I usually had to educate them on this and prove them wrong 5 seconds later
Unless if the bank have a separate standard when it comes to processing Apple Pay payments, it can be treated exactly the same like paywave
Then again I don’t work in FI
