finally the long awaited Apple Card had arrive for public user.

apply and accept mine this morning at 9am local time zone, can't wait to try it on my trip to San Francisco this weekend.

the whole process took me less then 2 min from start to finish. Banks should do some soul searching when comes to providing credit card services sign up, is such a hassle to sign up for new card nowadays.

Physical titanium card coming in 2-3 days time.

no, only US at the moment.

i don't think Malaysia even had Apple Pay to begin with, Apple Card probably won't happen anytime soon.

What's annoying is that Singapore has Apple Pay and ECG but we got nothing...

Not sure how does it work...

how did GPay collaborate with iPay88 to open payment market in Malaysia instead of banks...

I guess Apple only interested to work with big players such as bank to offer Apple Pay...

ipay88 only collaborate for gpay online payment

iOS has pretty low market share in Malaysia. around 20%
Here in Sweden iOS has 62% market share. And still nobody uses apple pay. Formally it exists. But I've never seen a shop that accepts it. Too much hassle and cost for the shops to have one more payment solution.

what type of credit card machine they use in sweden?
they do not support paywave/paypass???
no need for extra special device to accept apple pay as long the credit card device support NFC.

Most use terminals that are identical to those in malaysia. Alot of small businesses like at open air maket, stalls etc use izettle https://www.izettle.com/ Which is a physical addon to a smartphone. And all do support paywave. I'm sure the technology to support ApplePay is everywhere. But I think few customers or merchants see the need for yet another cashless paymethod. Also Applepay always have a cc in the background. So it's just another way to use the VISA/MC.

The only places where you cannot pay with VISA/MC like flea markets, and other transactions with individuals you can pay with Swish, which is a bit similar to Wechatpay or Alipay in China. So people do pay with their phones alot anyway.

Hopefully Apple Pay comes to malaysia by next year. Most of our merchants here can support contactless already... but none of the banks wants to support Apple Pay

don't think it will happen, not enough iPhone users to make it profitable for Apple Pay to step in

already got paywave still want apple pay for what? you know all these actually cost money for the retailers etc to implement? who is going to pay for all this just to make apple rich?

anyway, answer is no

Paywave, you still need to bring all the cards in your wallet. Apply pay is a feature that saved the credit card virtually inside your phone. You dont need to bring all the cards with you together.

I signed up a “boon. Plus” account and added to my wallet app. Top up by bank transfer via “Skrill” app. Apple Pay can be used in Malaysia and worldwide at any shop that has NFC contactless POS like McD, FamilyMart, KFC, Watson, Tesco, Aeon, Starbucks...

I suggest u cancel that UK account via email, and/or sign up a new Spanish Boon account.

This is because the UK account can only topup via Faster Payment, while Spanish one can topup via bank transfer or telegraphic transfer (TT).

I sign up on iPhone, after download that Boon. app, then **set Region to Spain in iPhone setting first** (you can switch back later),
then fill in your info...
In order to use the Boon. prepaid Mastercard via Apple Pay worldwide,
you'll need to upgrade to Boon. Plus account by submitting your photo, passport frontpage, your ultility bill or bank statement (no PDF),
or your driving licence (front and back) to proof your identity and address.

Yes, you don't need an Europe address or phone number to sign up, they just want to make sure your info is true.

You can only top up via bank transfer or telegraphic transfer (TT), credit card issued outside EU cannot.
Once you get signed up, you'll get a virtual prepaid Mastercard, and a Germany based bank account number.
For bank transfer via local bank is expensive, RM10 for each transfer via Maybank TT, and RM25 with RHB bank.
So I use Skrill to do bank transfer. The rate is OK. For Skrill, you'll need to sign up an account and get verified (similar to above steps).
Skrill can topup with your debit or credit card, and it takes about one business day to process.
Normally when I topup at 3pm (8am in Europe), and the fund would be received at 9pm, or latest by 3pm the next day.

I feel cool when I use Apple Pay here in Malaysia haha, and I can also use it as Transit Link while riding MRT in Singapore.
