You can use apple pay for almost any paywave machine here in Malaysia. I linked my lion city debit card to Apple Pay and paid a couple of times using Apple Pay in Malaysia

Wonder if there's a way to open an SG account without going to SG 😂

You can’t even open a SG account if you go there physically. It used to be easy, not anymore.

Welp, guess we're playing the waiting game

no, only US at the moment.

i don't think Malaysia even had Apple Pay to begin with, Apple Card probably won't happen anytime soon.

What's annoying is that Singapore has Apple Pay and ECG but we got nothing...

I signed up a “boon. Plus” account and added to my wallet app. Top up by bank transfer via “Skrill” app. Apple Pay can be used in Malaysia and worldwide at any shop that has NFC contactless POS like McD, FamilyMart, KFC, Watson, Tesco, Aeon, Starbucks...

I think I've tried this method in the past but couldn't verify my boon account, which guide did you use?

Any limitations in terms of being able to wave for large amounts? Like buying things at RM1k and above?
*
This depends on the banks themselves on the limit they want to impose, you can see the details linked here.

What about Apple Cash? Would it be supported in Malaysia?
This seems more like a "e wallet" kinda thing where people send and receive money?

If supported where can we use? any visa/mastercard terminal would work?

Nah we won't be getting Apple Cash anytime soon. It's only available in the U.S. for now, and I doubt they'll skip Canada, UK, etc and launch in Malaysia haha.

I'm not sure if this has been asked before or not but...

When I wanna use AP do I need to tell the merchant I'm paying with AP or just mention paywave?
*
For now, just mention paywave since at a high level it's similar. Plus the majority of Malaysians (~70%) are on Android so it won't be as prevalently used depending on the area
