I have been using my 20mm pancake lens for 3 years now and have been quite happy with it.
Is there any point in "upgrading" to a 12-35mm lens or is it a waste of money? I do like the wider angle shot sometimes for a scenery/landscape shot.

keep the 20mm and bought the small 12-32mm pancake. pretty cheap now.

How does the 12-32 perform against the 12-35?

12-32mm is kit lens
12-35mm is pro lens with f2.8 aperture

of course 12-35 is better but the size and weight much bigger than 12-32mm, price also 3 to 4 times difference.

btw, sony a99 ii and fuji gfx 50s steal all the attention in Photokina 2016.

I really wish Olympus will have replacement for legendary 12-60 but we're getting 12-100 instead, but still the price 12-40 really not far enough for event coverage.

Previously I had my mind set that I wont need upgrade since EM1 server me well enough, then this lower ISO, high AF points, 18fps burst

iso 64 isn't native iso. it is iso LOW. native still start from 200.

the new PanaLeica trio indeed a surprise in this announcement. now m4/3 is getting stronger with all these lenses.

Saw the em1 ii... And I am thinking of selling my em1 just for the video upgrade.

The to camera Is really a Leica clone. Wonder who manufactured the lens for them.

Dont underestimate china camera though. If they put their mind to it, they can manufactured good camera at really affordable price. Just check out their smartphones. And they can make good optics like mitakon.

Though, i would pass the Leica clone for now cause 1st gen tend to suck. Despite calling it the cheap Leica clone, the spec is rather meh and you find almost similar pricing and spec of m43 on older olympic or panasonic model.

Ya, the ISO Low on EM1 also same, but still I guess may have slight usefulness.

PanaLeica combination then price will also

Decided to rent the 12-35mm to have a feel for it lolz... Most were taken indoors with low lighting but I am generally happy with the sharpness and quality of this lens. Can have a little vignetting at the sides though when wide open.

Haha yes the 7-14mm would be a perfect compliment but that will have to wait, one step at a time

When set IBIS auto in EM5-II, how to know if it is engaged in a photo?

Do you guys turn off IBIS totally when there is enough light?

No idea about EM5-mk ii auto IBIS so can't comment there,

When IBIS is engaged, you will have more control over your speed/aperture/ISO compared to when IBIS isn't available. The only reason I turned it off (for me anyway ) is when I set it on a tripod. I suppose you can turn it off under favorable conditions, to save some battery life perhaps.

You forgot to add only when the subject is static. You can't exactly use on moving subject faster than shutter unless you want motion blur.

Generally just turn it off. If the subject not moving and you want clean iso, you can turn it on again at your leisure.

I just leave it on ( EM1 ) all the time ( seldom use tripod ), you'll know if you half-press shutter button and the viewfinder suddenly stabilized.

the "stabilize on half-press" needs to be ON for that to happen (not sure if it is on by default)
