My humble 2 cents is to go easy on the processing especially for the color photos.

Heavy colors help to dramatize a photo, sometimes it's helpful but sometimes it spoils. Good piece of advice thumbsup.gif

When set IBIS auto in EM5-II, how to know if it is engaged in a photo?

Do you guys turn off IBIS totally when there is enough light?
*
No idea about EM5-mk ii auto IBIS so can't comment there,

When IBIS is engaged, you will have more control over your speed/aperture/ISO compared to when IBIS isn't available. The only reason I turned it off (for me anyway blush.gif ) is when I set it on a tripod. I suppose you can turn it off under favorable conditions, to save some battery life perhaps. thumbsup.gif

Quick question. For cheap thrill which is better?

Panny 14-42 v2

Or

Panny 14-45 ?

Ps: already have the 12-32
*
I tried both and I prefer the newer and smaller version 2 of the 14-42. Fast AF and sharp. Sold it off since I have the wonderful tiny 12-32 and with the fantastic Ricoh gw1 wide angle converter to make it a 9-24!

BTW, why you want a 14-42 if you already have the 12-32?

Last night i was shooting my daughter's kindergarten event with 12-32 and i find the range lacking compared with the 18-55 on APSC.

Ideally 14-140mm ii but $$$
*
The 12-32 is perfect if you are in a tight spot like a small room or shooting landscape but it doesn't have enough reach going beyond 32mm. If it is range you are after a 14-140 is ideal but instead, you can go for a 40-150 for a better reach. A 40-150 is cheap on the used market. And the difference in gap between the 12-32 and 40-150 is negligible. I would recommend a 40-150 anytime.

This is the set up i have at the moment: A 15/1.7, 20/1.7, 12-32+.75X WAC and a 40-150.

Looking for a 100-400 when the prices ease a bit.

I brought the the 35-100 with me. Just the pace is too fast to change lens.. switching between video and photos...kids singing dancing from wide group to zoomed in.

I can imagine why pros hang another unit on their shoulder, maybe you should, too ha ha.. thumbsup.gif

Kinda ridiculous to shoot kiddie event with gx7 and a gf7 around the shoulder right? Mcm pondan biggrin.gif

A pro lugging around an extra heavy gear look even more ridiculous as that heavy gear will eventually wear him down much faster than our little machines, he will envy you each time you pass him by with your chest out and he with his chest in catching air whistling.gif rclxms.gif

I watched some youtube videos and they say to cut a hole in the plastic bag for the lens.

What is the right way actually? I'm getting nervous for my camera and lens already, yikes.

Read some articles online and they say condensation would damage the lens and sensor, so it's pretty worrisome.

QUOTE(sniper on the roof @ Dec 28 2016, 10:08 PM)
Dont worry too much, just dont change lens etc and allow moisture to get in can di. After the trip ... If u worry than keep camera inside box of rice to absorb moisure can di.

Shot my old S90 and 60D in snow storm pun nothiny happen.

Couple months ago i went to this disney Frozen exhibit held inside a literally frozen facility with ice slides, aritificial snow etc .. my kids were throwing snow at my XE2. I didnt take any precaution at all and outside was almost 40c. Condensation like crazy.. lens.. filter everything fogged up... Camera stop working for a while but ok after a while.

I suppose keeping the camera airtight before coming into a warm place will prevent that.

Worry about battery life and exposure compensation instead
*
I would say don't worry too much if you are not in the snow, as in while it's snowing (like when it's raining in our weather) I think you are fine. Cold weather alone doesn't spoil your camera but any water seepage will.

I was in switzerland surfing resort Flumserberg in early 2013 and my G6 just work fine, without any protective gears. In about the same time I was in London too and it was snowing while on the street walking to Madame Tussauds and still nothing happen to my camera till this day.

Don't worry too much, our cameras are much tougher than you might like to think. Just enjoy yourself, without looking ridiculous with your camera in a plastic bag keh keh keh doh.gif

How much you paid for the 100-400? Is the price reasonable?

I got the same 15/1.7 and yes, it's always on my gx8 all the time now. thumbup.gif

Thanks! I got it for around RM~9k+ for both the camera body and lens, the lens was around RM~6k

That shop really poison, I see that they stock up on some rare Pana lenses .. they even have the PanaLeica 12mm f1.4!
*
Whoa rm6k for the lens? Do you think this is reasonable?

Ya the 12/1.4 is a killa! How much they sell?

Well I shoot events and my Pana 35-100mm doesn't always zoom as far as I want it to when I need to shoot close ups of the stage area or some sniping shots, for example (especially since the General Election is just around the corner)

And seeing that an Oly 40-150mm (extra 50mm) costs around the same price, and the Oly 300mm costs 11-12k.. it's a steal for me already, considering that the G85 handles very well even in 1600 and 3200 ISO

Cant remember the price for the 12mm but it was around 4k iirc
*
Sounds like the 100-400's price is acceptable considering Oly 300mm, which of course is a prime and being so they are much costlier for obvious reasons. Can't compare them though except buying the 100-400 for it's reach.

QUOTE(Someonesim @ Jan 2 2017, 07:06 AM)
Look at the size of that bazooka  biggrin.gif  although consider tiny next to DSLR's bazooka  tongue.gif
How is the weight and handling ?
Oly 40-150 pro + teleconverter ( 56-210 ) about 6K already.
Imagine if Panasonic have native teleconverter ( I recall they dont have ) with 100-400  biggrin.gif

If I havent get Olympus 40-150 pro, and with lots of cash, the Oly 12-100 + Pana 100-400 can tabao almost all focal needed  whistling.gif
*
Good suggestion!

I can live with this:-

Haiz, cant upgrade body at all, EM1 II too expensive ( I'll pay that price tag if ISO performance and dynamic range are on full frame level ), cant go Panasonic as all my lens Olympus ( cant take advantage of Panny's dual I.S )  cry.gif

QUOTE(incubus_skj @ Jan 5 2017, 04:47 PM)
lucky for me the only Olympus lens i have left are the 75mm and 8mm f1.8

the rest of my other lenses are Panasonics... so I can't wait to fully transition to the economical G85 laugh.gif
*
I have also moved 100% to Panasonic to take advantage of the dual-IS thing but mind you, not all are compatible doh.gif

Here's the list of compatible lenses, might not be the latest list, all latest lenses should support dual is like the 100-400

bro, how's your experience on dual i.s and dfd so far?
*
I didn't have the time to do a real test simply becoz I didn't have the right lens to do it, the 12-32 I have does gives a lower shutter speed and better iso control but that's about it however, it would be interesting to see if how it performs on a real bazooka like the 100-400 (incubus_skj: maybe he can test this out for us?) I am really interested to find out if 100-400 is coupled with the gx8.

As from Youtube videos, the combo is truly amazing, see the video here:

gx8 + 100-400

okay so here's the test shots i've done with the 100-400 on my new G85 body.

and here's a couple of night shots from the same spot:-

To me, you can finally use 6400 ISO on the G85. That's waaay higher than my previous maximum acceptance at 1600 ISO on my old E-M5's

thanks for the recommendation!

looks solid good, might consider this.

anyway just need an input whether camera grips are essential for you guys, appreciate inputs  smile.gif
*
Camera grips are personal coz if you have a large hand, holding a small m4/3 camera isn't easy. I had a camera grip on my em5 coz the original grip is way too small for a comfortable and steady grip but coming to gx8, the grip is large enough so a grip accessory isn't necessary. But of course putting on a camera grip sometimes make the camera look very cool thumbup.gif I say why not thumbsup.gif
