Just now HLB call me said offer 15k balance transfer for 6 months 0%, 0 charge,
instead of put 15k into my creditcard, they can put 15k into my saving account. But with condition every month got to return of 5% amount from 15k, and the 6th month must settle all. Is this a good deal? Thanks This post has been edited by Sirius: Sep 14 2016, 05:11 PM |

QUOTE(zero721 @ Sep 14 2016, 02:38 PM) Newbie here. Just wanna get some opinion from all the senior here. For example, a bank just called up and said can give me a special flexi personal loan around 10k. And the interest rate is 3.99% per annum. No other hidden charge or processing fee. Do you think I should get this 10k to do something? Maybe can earn some money using this 10k since the interest is only rm399 for 1 year. Go for ASNB, interest 6% ++ PACan cover your loan and earn the 2% +- interest. |

QUOTE(nexona88 @ Sep 14 2016, 11:43 AM) In Affin this morning. Confirmed the FD promo to get 4.25% by buying ASNB FP units. Minimum is 1k units. In fact I opened 3 FP ASM, AS1M and ASW2020 accts today in preparation for bigger things to come. After my successful try, the next counter, one Chinese lady was not successful. She was also trying to bundle it with the 4.25% FD. Earlier I have 2 placements of Affin 4.05%, did not know that can get the FP units bundle with 4.25% deal ! Thinking of terminating the last one and re-put in for the 4.25%. This post has been edited by bbgoat: Sep 14 2016, 06:50 PM |

QUOTE(wil-i-am @ Sep 14 2016, 06:54 PM) Actually your question should be how many digits of FP ? Hahaha ! Already have substantial FD with them. The 1k FP requirement is just sub sub sui. Today's new FP acct just opened with small amt of dough. Ya, the counter staff was commenting that I was lucky to open the 3 accts, all in 1 try. While the other lady was not successful. I guess some other Affin branch must also accept FP units as requirement for the 4.25%. Not this particular branch. But u guys reported 2, I think, in Klang valley (?) that did not accept FP. Do you think I should get this 10k to do something? Maybe can earn some money using this 10k since the interest is only rm399 for 1 year. Since you are newbie, For personal loan and hire purchase, bank quote you interest rate, known as flat interest rate or academically known as simple interest rate. For housing loan, bank quote you interest rate known as effective interest rate (EIR) or sometimes I see being described as effective annual rate (EAR). For this purpose, I call it effective rate. EIR is the actual rate applied to you. You use this to compare to your returns from FD. The analogy is like saying something is 3 feet long and 1 metre long. You must convert them into same ‘unit’ to know which is longer (or shorter). Similarly. Your must convert the flat interest rate into EIR to compare. So for 3.99% p.a. for 1 year, the EIR is actually 7.29% p.a. So this is actually obviously higher than your FD. So no, please don’t take the personal loan to place in FD. As for the maths behind it, I think we skip it for now. Yes, no doubt the interest is still just RM399 per year, but the maths will tell you the rate you are being charged is 7.29%. reason being bank should charge you lesser interest as you pay off your loan, but it doesn’t happen in this case. So for now, ignore the maths, know the difference. Use calculators provided (use the link I have given). We are not in the age where we calculate on our own. https://loanstreet.com.my/calculator/flat-t...rest-calculator QUOTE(Andrew_1980 @ Sep 14 2016, 05:01 PM) hello, please do not misled others. read my comments above.QUOTE(jayko @ Sep 14 2016, 08:14 PM) FPX is just another method of payment/transfer. nothing fishy about it. I believe, HLB is doing it to ensure fresh fund, although i still think easily manipulated. It's just that you are not familiar with FPX. FYI, GIRO and instant is also under BNM.
