The winners and those who needn't worry are those who took in 2015

Ambank's 2 years FD @ 4.6%p.a.
*
The real winners were those placed the MBSB exclusive 5 before it discontinued, 4.7% for 5 years, even better than most corporate bonds

QUOTE(kart @ Sep 8 2016, 10:28 PM)
Sorry for asking this silly question, but I appreciate help from FD experts like you all, to clear my doubt.

I have an Affin FD (Interest Rate: 4.33 %) which will mature tomorrow. Boy, we sure miss the days when the FD interest rate are around 4.6 %.  sad.gif

Principle: RM 10000.00
FD Duration: 15 months (from 9 June 2015 to 9 September 2016)
1) Is 9 June 2015 counted as one day for calculating the FD interest?

2) Is 9 September 2016 counted as one day for calculating the FD interest?

3) In this case, 15 months means 458 days.

Total Interest Gained = RM 10000.00 x 4.33 % x 458 / 365 = RM 543.33.

Is my method for calculating the FD interest correct?

Thank you for the help.  rclxms.gif

If I count both 9 June 2015 and 9 September 2016, the FD duration would be 459 days.

Total Interest Gained = RM 10000.00 x 4.33 % x 459 / 365 = RM 544.51.

That is why I am confused whether I should count both 9 June 2015 and 9 September 2016 or not.  confused.gif

Newbie here. Just wanna get some opinion from all the senior here. For example, a bank just called up and said can give me a special flexi personal loan around 10k. And the interest rate is 3.99% per annum. No other hidden charge or processing fee. Do you think I should get this 10k to do something? Maybe can earn some money using this 10k since the interest is only rm399 for 1 year.
*
The effective rate will be around 7, Your "investment" better be earn more than that.

QUOTE(Sirius @ Sep 14 2016, 04:13 PM)
Just now HLB call me said offer 15k balance transfer for 6 months 0%, 0 charge,
instead of put 15k into my creditcard, they can put 15k into my saving account.
But with condition every month got to return of 5% amount from 15k, and the 6th month must settle all.

Is this a good deal?

Thanks
*
Just make sure that you remember to pay the 5% every month, and clear the remaining balance at 6th month,
else they may charge you 18%!

PM me your name and contact number. After i join RHB premier wealth I will introduce you. However there is no guarantee as bro Bbgoat mentioned must be investment product. We just try our chances as the TNC never mention this.

My question to RHB is who will ever make a RM200k investment product for a mere RM388 incentive?
*
QUOTE(gchowyh @ Oct 7 2016, 04:38 PM)
Let me check it out further for RHB.

I am 1 foot into Maybank premier wealth already so may not go for RHB since my funds are already in Maybank at the moment.

For Maybank premier wealth, besides RM 250k deposit requirement, I will need to open a current account with initial deposit of RM10k but only RM1k needs to be earmarked while the rest can be withdrawn immediately.

I will ask Maybank what other special benefits like dinner/events or free membership
*
dude, in this case, why dont you guys take HSBC Premier instead? It makes RM500 per referral instead of 388. And They give 4.38% p.a FD for new to premier customers

"why we are still need FD even though we have ASB/Unit Trust option with better ROI?"
*
1. Not everyone won the genetic lottery to be entitled for ASB subscription
2. ASM, AS1M, ASW2020 subscription for non bumi are hard to get.
3. Other unit trusts, are subjected to volatility, you may loose your money during tough time.
4. FD is the only one has the following traits: safe, easy to apply, acceptable return

what i did here is simply instilling public awareness of how would a bank approach an individual vs a prominent public figure for example you know who, when it comes to income declared as donation.

whereas,

what you did there is stating a whole lot of assumptions that bears no significant whatsoever for your time spent or whoever reads it.
