sorry might be an out-topic here... just asking can I mix different timings/capacity of RAM together?
For example,
Using Kingston DDR3L + Team Elite DDR3L or Kingston DDR3L + Corsair value DDR3L?

thanks.

i dont think you can, usually, ppl recommend to use RAM with the same speed/timing/. If one of the ram have more speed than the other one, it will downclock itself to the lower speed ram sweat.gif

haha, ssd helps to improve the reading and writing speed of a file. It doesn't improve the performance of a game except its loading time only, a 1050Ti > 960 which currently I'm using, Dota 2 ultra setting can get 100-120FPS, for AAA games can go for a combination from med to ultra setting, depending on your personal preferences for your acceptable gameplay. Witcher 3 can go around 45-55 FPS for high-ultra setting. As 1050Ti is better, for sure no problem icon_rolleyes.gif

Sorry out of topic, can I wrap my colorful cable with black electrical tape? Some of my wires arent fully black at the end of it. Example, corsair h100i usb cable (at the end of the cable it doesnt sleeved).

Hi guys, I need some advices on building a gaming rig with a suitable monitor (future proof for at least 5 years?) icon_question.gif

Budget: RM3k to RM5k (I do not mind increasing the budget)

Purpose: Gaming purpose (Dota, Overwatch, hopefully any game in the future with high setting)

Hardwares that will be re-use: None. first pc

Monitor resolution: Not sure which one better: 1080p / 1440p

Personal preferences:
CPU - Heard that i5 would be sufficient as I do not do any video editing
GPU - nvidia gtx 1070/1080 (or is there better option? / brand suggestion)
Monitor - heard acer or benQ is quite good but no idea rclxub.gif
Casing - Saw this nzxt s340. seem pretty affordable and good to me.
Overclock - most likely not as i have no experience.
Hopefully i can leave it on for days without shutting down (so im assuming i need a good cooling fan? hmm.gif )

Open to any suggestion notworthy.gif Sorry if my post seem weird notworthy.gif

Location: Selangor (hopefully can suggest reliable seller as well smile.gif )

haha, no other recommendation with your budget though, if you can't find a Ti version, just get a normal one, a 1050 can still serve you well for your Dota session, for AAA games, if you can afford a med-high setting no problem sweat.gif

CPU no problem, GPU might the holding back a little bit as it is still considered as a low end GPU, medium settings should be ok for latest titles if it is well optimized for low end card, you might want to drop to low settings to achieve a stable 60 FPS (1080p).

There is no guarantee it will work nor it will not work, some boards will tolerate it and automatically adjust the correct settings for you while some will just sit there and refuse to boot up, the safest option would be getting the similar RAM model to avoid all these incompatibility issue.

As long as the tape doesn't conduct electricity then it should be fine, I did the same thing too last time for my old build.

Hmm, not saying i5 is not enough for gaming, but some games do require the power of i7 (higher clock speed and HT) to run smoothly, for example, Watch_Dogs 2 (just released 2 days ago on PC platform), i7 edges out i5 and produces a more solid gaming experience (as in more stable FPS) if you roam a lot in city area, this is also true for other open world titles like GTA V.

Nevertheless, I will go with the basic i5 first as requested.

Intel Core i5 6500 - RM 906
Gigabyte B150M-D3H (D4) - RM 379
GSKill 16GB (8GB x 2) DDR4 2133MHz RAM - RM 478
Gigabyte GTX1060 6GB GDDR5 Windforce - RM 1269
Samsung 750 EVO 250GB SSD - RM 315
Seagate Barracuda 1TB HDD - RM 205
EVGA Supernova 650 GQ - RM 459
NZXT S340 - RM 320
Acer R241Y FHD - RM 622
Logitech MK200 Wired Combo - RM 65

Total: RM 5018 (ETech price inclusive of GST)

I picked GTX1060 over GTX1070/GTX1080 simply because it is more budget friendly and can run latest titles on FHD at almost max settings, if you can increase your budget then you can upgrade the card to other model. 1440p monitor is expensive, the cheapest one currently in our market (via official channel) is the newly launched ViewSonic VX3209-2K, priced at RM 1199.

Since you own an i7-K CPU and Z77 mobo, do you plan to overclock it? If yes then I will include a decent CPU cooler.

Sorry about that. How can I leave something that important. Yes I'll be overclocking, probably around 4.5Ghz if can since my mobo don't have vcore adjustment.

Hi guys, I'm thinking of building a computer without the monitor for a budget of somewhere in between RM3000-3500. Initial budget was RM3000 but after going around town (Kuching, Sarawak) surveying the parts I found myself somewhere around RM3500 because I want something that looks cool also.

CPU: i5-6500 for RM858
MB: Asus H110M-D RM270
GPU: GTX1060 3GB RM1119
RAM: Hyper X 4GB x2 RM238
HDD: 1TB Blue RM218
Casing: NZXT S340 RM319
PSU: Acbel 600w Gold RM355
SSD: 120GB RM199

Is this okay or should I change some things?
