Sorry out of topic, can I wrap my colorful cable with black electrical tape? Some of my wires arent fully black at the end of it. Example, corsair h100i usb cable (at the end of the cable it doesnt sleeved).
As long as the tape doesn't conduct electricity then it should be fine, I did the same thing too last time for my old build.

Hi guys, I need some advices on building a gaming rig with a suitable monitor (future proof for at least 5 years?)
Budget: RM3k to RM5k (I do not mind increasing the budget)
Purpose: Gaming purpose (Dota, Overwatch, hopefully any game in the future with high setting)
Hardwares that will be re-use: None. first pc
Monitor resolution: Not sure which one better: 1080p / 1440p
Personal preferences:
CPU - Heard that i5 would be sufficient as I do not do any video editing
GPU - nvidia gtx 1070/1080 (or is there better option? / brand suggestion)
Monitor - heard acer or benQ is quite good but no idea
Casing - Saw this nzxt s340. seem pretty affordable and good to me.
Overclock - most likely not as i have no experience.
Hopefully i can leave it on for days without shutting down (so im assuming i need a good cooling fan?

)
Open to any suggestion

Sorry if my post seem weird
Location: Selangor (hopefully can suggest reliable seller as well

)
Hmm, not saying i5 is not enough for gaming, but some games do require the power of i7 (higher clock speed and HT) to run smoothly, for example, Watch_Dogs 2 (just released 2 days ago on PC platform), i7 edges out i5 and produces a more solid gaming experience (as in more stable FPS) if you roam a lot in city area, this is also true for other open world titles like GTA V.
Nevertheless, I will go with the basic i5 first as requested.
Intel Core i5 6500 - RM 906
Gigabyte B150M-D3H (D4) - RM 379
GSKill 16GB (8GB x 2) DDR4 2133MHz RAM - RM 478
Gigabyte GTX1060 6GB GDDR5 Windforce - RM 1269
Samsung 750 EVO 250GB SSD - RM 315
Seagate Barracuda 1TB HDD - RM 205
EVGA Supernova 650 GQ - RM 459
NZXT S340 - RM 320
Acer R241Y FHD - RM 622
Logitech MK200 Wired Combo - RM 65
Total: RM 5018 (ETech price inclusive of GST)
I picked GTX1060 over GTX1070/GTX1080 simply because it is more budget friendly and can run latest titles on FHD at almost max settings, if you can increase your budget then you can upgrade the card to other model. 1440p monitor is expensive, the cheapest one currently in our market (via official channel) is the newly launched ViewSonic VX3209-2K, priced at RM 1199.
