Would suggest more GPU horse power. Cut the SSD and go for RX470 if the price is right instead. WoW increased the GPU requirements.
*
Sadly the RX470 8GB costs RM 1139 here bangwall.gif

If can wait, then wait for 4GB version, Sapphire Nitro RM 989 and PowerColor Devil Red RM 899, but still need some top up to the initial budget for it.

Intel Core i5 6402P never sell already

I bought the techware alpha white at 189. Price need to update
*
Probably Techview is out of stock only, I still can find it at Lowyat Plaza today.

And the case is having different price for each color, you might have bought the black color at RM 189, price is taken from their lelong store (it stated RM 189 for black and RM 199 for white and grey), for bundle purchase discount and latest price, buyers are encouraged to ask for quotation from the sellers, this is just a recommendation thread after all.

Hey guys, need some help, finally decided to get a new pc! biggrin.gif
I have a case and 750w cooler master PS.
(Currently using an old LG 23" monitor. Might add another 23" just for the lulz)

this is the list that techview suggested me.
comments are much appreciated.
RM 4420
Intel I5-6600
Gigabyte H170-D3HP
Corsair 32GB 2133 D4
Zotac GTX 1070 reference
128GB plextor m6s
2tb WD
thoughts? comments?

The thing is I don't really play graphic intensive games, like dota 2, csgo, gonna get overwatch.... I enjoy online games alot as you can see.

Do recommend and comment and stuffz biggrin.gif
*
32GB RAM for those games and tasks? Too much bro biggrin.gif

If you don't play graphics demanding games, you can save money by getting GTX1060/RX480 (or even RX470).

Hi,

I have a PC with Intel i5-3470, 8gb RAM, 500GB 7200rpm HDisk, and Nvidia Geforce 210 GCard. I want to upgrade to a Radeon HD 7700 OC edition which I can get for RM200 from a friend.

Is the upgrade worth it? BTW, I only play Dota 2 and CSGO.

Another thing, my current Power Supply is Max Power 500W, Pure Power 250W. If I go through this upgrade, do I need to change my Power Supply to a higher one?

Thanks
*
Which 7700? 7700 is a series which consists of 7730, 7750, 7770 and 7790.

This build is a good starting point for high end 1080p gaming, it can handle graphics demanding games without any major issue too on 1080p 60Hz (GTX980 equivalent), I don't see the need to go for GTX1070 when you mostly run Dota 2, CS:GO and other online games.

You didn't mention your casing form factor so I assume it is ATX size and is able to fit the above components.

Hello there, I am new here and am from Seremban N9. Am looking build a  rig that is mainly for gaming. Would like to of course get the best prices of each parts. Will also plan to overclock in the future and sli or xfire but for now a single VGA will do and the VGA Should be in the GTX 1070 series. Please take in to consideration of our ridiculous weather here in msia  and if those parts will be largely affected by it. Also willing to travel to the shop to buy the parts and the dates i will be going around to purchase the parts would be 26/8 and 27/8. Also if there are any combo offers, not full rig combos would be great to include those in too and also any freebies  biggrin.gif

Parts Not needed:
1) Casing CM 690 Series
2) HDD
3) Softwares
4) Monitor
5) No special coolers needed for now
Important Part to include would be a SSD the lowest possible and cheapest as well just to add the windows in to it and certain important software.

Budget 4-(5k+-) <<<< If can go less would be nice
[B]PS: Would love if some one can explain why you chose those parts[/B]
*
Price might change by the time you are ready to purchase the items so the price that I am going to list down is based on today's rate taken from the seller.

Intel Core i7 6700K - RM 1461
Asus Z170 Pro Gaming - RM 699
Kingston HyperX Savage 16GB (8GB x 2) DDR4 3000MHz RAM - RM 423
Palit GTX1070 8GB GDDR5 Jetstream - RM 1999
Kingston SSDNow UV400 240GB SSD - RM 255
Superflower Leadex Gold 550W - RM 409

Total: RM 5246 (ETech price inclusive of GST)

OC build isn't cheap to build and the performance/price ratio is bad when it comes to gaming, most of the games do not show any significant performance bump in terms of FPS.

I don't include a cooler yet, but you need to grab a cheap stock cooler (around RM 50) because Skylake K CPU doesn't come with stock cooler.

You can save at least 1k by going for non-OC build (more budget friendly).

Tks so much for the feedback, What is your take on the Non-OC build?

How about the core shaving that part off and instead using i5 6600k
And also can i reduce the DDR4 rams to a slightly less pricy one
*
If I were to go for OC build, I won't take 6600K considering DX12 and Vulkan have started to become mature now in games (slowly) and should become the major API for all the upcoming games in next 3 years, this is where the 6700K starts to shine thanks to its multicore. DX12 and Vulkan aim to take advantage of the multicore of the CPU and reduce the CPU overhead for better graphics output performance.

It is just like you have 4 legs (i5) vs 8 legs (i7), no matter how much steroid (OC) you put in 4 legs, it is still very hard to beat the 8 legs, either in speed or efficiency, but then if you cannot fork out extra for the 8 legs (i7), stick with 4 legs (i5), it will work too, regardless of K or non-K, K gives you extra ability to OC it when needed (after several years when Skylake CPU starts to show some bottleneck symptoms like 1st and 2nd gen Intel CPU now).

RAM can be downgraded to normal one but Skylake does show performance improvements when pairing with high speed RAM, this is normally not the case during DDR3 era, but DDR4, they are biggrin.gif

Intel Core i7 6700 - RM 1311
Gigabyte H170-HD3 (D4) - RM 446
Kingston 16GB (8GB x 2) DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 290
Palit GTX1070 8GB GDDR5 Jetstream - RM 1999
Kingston SSDNow UV400 240GB SSD - RM 255
Superflower Leadex Gold 550W - RM 409

Total: RM 4710 (ETech price inclusive of GST)

in that case issit i7 6800k would be more benefit for DX12 for gaming itself?
*
So far all the available DX12 games in the market don't show any significant improvement when going from 6700K to 6800K, the performance is mostly same or just 1 to 2 FPS difference only, so 6700K is the max you should spend on currently, focus more on the GPU instead.

Faster cores matter more than more cores currently, still, provided the games have all the resources it needs from the system.

hi sifu,
Just want to ask those gaming rigs from Techview, etc are good? as I see those 2k~3k setup is around my budget too.

Thanks and Regards
*
It depends on your requirements, some people prefer to max out the GPU instead of bundling the rig with SSD (which doesn't help in improving the FPS), some prefer AMD/Nvidia card, some prefer to have better/nice looking casing, you can always customize it yourself, not necessary need to follow the bundle.

Hi guys

I have asked earlier for mitx build for office use. Local shops only sell this mobo

Msi h110m pro vh
Msi b150m bazooka

Is this compatible for mitx build? Casing used is cm130
*
Both aren't mITX, they are mATX, so it is not compatible with CM Elite 130 case.

Then how about this one?

http://www.lazada.com.my/avf-power-supply-...0w-1477917.html
(AVF extreme power 650W)
*
Avoid AVF PSU if possible, go for FSP Hexa+ 400/450W, around RM 150.

Getting a cheap and unreliable PSU = put your PC at risk.

Thanks for recommendation. for this rig, what is my options to upgrade next time if AAA game required better GPU?

Intel Core i3 6098P - RM 437
Gigabyte H110M-DS2 (D4) - RM 249
Corsair 8GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 131
Sapphire RX460 4GB GDDR5 Nitro - RM 689
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 215
FSP Hexa+ 550W - RM 189
Tecware F3 - RM 129

Total: RM 2039 (Techview price inclusive of GST)
*
If the games requires better GPU then surely go for a more powerful GPU but at the same time, you still have to check if the GPU that you are going to get will be bottlenecked by the CPU or not (i3 in this case).

Just curious about one thing. I've read and seen benchmark which claims that Skylake improve performance with higher speed ram as you said, but most board I see (like one you shown) only lists 2133MHz speed.

http://www.gigabyte.de/products/product-pa...spx?pid=5484#sp

Does it means need to OC so that the board can read let's say 3000MHz ?
*
Only Z170 mobo allows RAM overclocking, H110/B150/H170 will have the RAM set at base clock of DDR4 (2133MHz) and you cannot overclock it manually.

QUOTE(Gaia34 @ Aug 9 2016, 08:46 AM)
Hi guys, plan to upgrade my PC by adding a SSD & Ram, budget around Rm500..any idea which SSD & Ram should I get (compatibility wise)?

My current PC spec:

I5 4570
Gigabyte H87-D3H
Team Elite 4gb ram
Zotac 950
FSP 500W
500GB & 1 TB HDD

Here's what I plan to get, wonder if it's compatible with my Mobo..

1. Samsung 850 EVO 2.5" 120GB SSD
2. Kingston HyperX Fury 8gb DDR3-1866 or should i just get the 1600 version, price not much difference...

Thank you.

smile.gif
*
To avoid compatibility issue, try to but the exact same RAM module as mix and match RAM doesn't always guarantee they will work together, since you are going to get a 8GB RAM, if the 4GB doesn't accept the new 8GB, then just drop the 4GB, if they accept each other, you will have 12GB RAM in total.

Pick the one with 1600MHz, your mobo cannot utilize 1866MHz even if you get the 1866MHz due to chipset limitation. You still can pick 1866MHz, just the mobo will downclock the speed to 1600MHz automatically, if your old 4GB RAM is running at 1333MHz, the new RAM will go down further to 1333MHz as well in most of the cases.

The SSD you picked is SATA SSD, just make sure you have a free SATA slot on your mobo and you are good to go. Other cheap alternatives are Kingston UV400 & HyperX Fury & 750 EVO etc.

[Monitor resolution] FHD60Hz for now, wish to upgrade soonish.

[Games & softwares that use frequently] AAA games (e.g Witcher 3, Rise of Tomb Raider, Fallout 4, FFXIV etc.)

[Personal preferences] intel cpu and nvidia gpu preferable.

[Location] Penang

Thanks in advance for your help. Cheers.

You can remove the SSD or downgrade to 120GB SSD/8GB RAM one to reduce the total cost.

Case selection is very subjective, you can go with your own preferences, just have to make sure the components (especially mobo & GPU) are compatible.
