Sorry about that. How can I leave something that important. Yes I'll be overclocking, probably around 4.5Ghz if can since my mobo don't have vcore adjustment.
*
Zotac GTX1060 6GB GDDR5 Mini - RM 1219
Corsair Hydro H55 - RM 291 <can invest in a more decent cooler if needed>
Silverstone SG13BQ - RM 235
EVGA 550W G2 - RM 459

Total: RM 2204 (Techview price inclusive of GST)

Push-and-pull configuration is not compatible with this casing as it doesn't have enough space/clearance for it.

How much will below cost right now as I got it from previous suggestion in this thread?

If I want to add 1 SSD for OS installation and the price would be? Or anything I need to improve?

Corsair 8GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM x2
WD Blue 1TB HDD
Seasonic M12II EVO 520W

Hi sifus, will normally  use it mainly for 3D rendering, video editing & a little bit of gaming ..
Please advise on below spec:

Intel I7 6700
Gigabyte X99 Ultra Gaming
HyperX Savage 16gb
Asus ROG STRIX GTX 1060
Samsung 750 Evo 120gb SSD
WD Blue Caviar 1TB
mainly use of software is :
AutoCAD, 3DMax, SketchUp, REVIT, PSD & Illustrator

*i'm not sure what to choose for PSU, casing & do i need water cooling or just the fan is sufficient enough
**sorry for the noob question, first time build
Thanks  smile.gif
*
Please state an acceptable budget range if possible. And i7 6700 cannot be installed on a X99 mobo.

QUOTE(paupau22 @ Dec 1 2016, 03:35 PM)
Hi guys, I'm thinking of building a computer without the monitor for a budget of somewhere in between RM3000-3500. Initial budget was RM3000 but after going around town (Kuching, Sarawak) surveying the parts I found myself somewhere around RM3500 because I want something that looks cool also.

CPU: i5-6500 for RM858
MB: Asus H110M-D RM270
GPU: GTX1060 3GB RM1119
RAM: Hyper X 4GB x2 RM238
HDD: 1TB Blue RM218
Casing: NZXT S340 RM319
PSU: Acbel 600w Gold RM355
SSD: 120GB RM199

Is this okay or should I change some things?
*
Please go for 8GB x 1 for the RAM instead of 4GB x 2 because the mobo you picked only comes with 2 RAM slots and you will need to sacrifice one of them when you want to upgrade next time.

GTX1060 3GB priced at RM 1119 is quite overpriced, full specs 6GB variant is very close to this pricing (for certain model).

Acbel 600W Gold is a semi modular PSU if I recall correctly and it is hard to find in Klang Valley area (East Malaysia might not be the same biggrin.gif ), other brands like Seasonic M12II/Superflower Leadex Silver/Gold will be a better choice.

QUOTE(fuzzly! @ Dec 1 2016, 04:10 PM)
Hi thanks for your suggestion and i will consider this, but suddenly im interested with an itx system with GTX1070 and ViewSonic VX3209-2K.  brows.gif

Is 8Gb ram too low?

And I can extend my budget maybe around 5.5k . Please advice.
*
8GB is the standard memory value now for most of the rigs, if you multitask a lot (or lazy to do memory management) then 16GB is recommended, games nowadays take more than 4GB RAM which makes 64 bit OS as a must now, when your RAM usage is getting very close to 8GB (7GB for example), Windows will start to use pagefile as temporary RAM, pagefile is a reserved partition of your C drive, if your C drive is SSD then it is still ok (but still marginally slower than RAM), the games you play might start to slow down (FPS drop, assets slow to load) and so forth.

Intel Core i5 6500 - RM 906
Asus H110I-PLUS - RM 348
GSKill Aegis 8GB DDR4 2133MHz RAM - RM 239
Palit GTX1070 8GB GDDR5 Dual - RM 1859
Samsung 750 EVO 250GB SSD - RM 315
Seagate Barracuda 1TB HDD - RM 205
Superflower Leadex Gold 550W - RM 409
CM Elite 130 - RM 178 <based on cheapest available ITX casing, CM Elite 110 is too small to fit GPU so I skipped it>
ViewSonic VX3209-2K - RM 1199

Total: RM 5658 (ETech price inclusive of GST)

You can change it to Zotac AMP if you wish to do so, but it doesn't come with any metal backplate, if you are ok with this then the 5 years warranty definitely worth the exchange smile.gif

Hi, if i7 6700 cannot be installed on X99, can i just changed to Z170X ?
or you have something better in mind ?

My budget is around 5-6k just for the cpu alone.

Thanks! I have a few more question.  (really new in pc stuff)  sweat.gif
1) For the cooler any suggestion?
2) If i plan to upgrade to i7. Should i go for the i7 6600k version? (more future proofing?)
3) It seem that the monitor does not support g-sync? is it important to get monitor with g-sync?
4) Any other suggestion for the casing? Hoping for sleek design and sided window. (Saw reviews that the NZXT s340 paint easily scratchable)

Thanks terence for the last reply. Im planning on upgrading my mobo and maintain my cpu. From asus z170i to asus maximus viii impact, do I need to reinstall my os? Is it harmful if I left my previous mobo's driver without removing them? Will the old driver conflict with the new mobo?

i7 6700 can be installed on H110/B150/H170/Z170/C232/C236 chipset, X99 is for i7 Extreme Series CPU like 6850K and 6950X etc.

Intel Core i7 6700 - RM 1399
Gigabyte H170-HD3 (D4) - RM 446
GSKill Aegis 16GB (8GB x 2) DDR4 2133MHz RAM - RM 478
Gigabyte GTX1060 6GB GDDR5 Windforce - RM 1319
Samsung 750 EVO 250GB SSD - RM 315
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 215
EVGA Supernova 550 G2 - RM 459
Tecware Alpha - RM 229

Total: RM 4860 (ETech price inclusive of GST)

This is a non-overclockable CPU setup, so you don't have to get any 3rd party air/water CPU cooler, Intel HSF (stock CPU cooler) is enough unless you want something quieter/cooler.

Since you have budget left, you can consider upgrading to a better GPU (presumably GTX1070) or get an overclockable CPU setup.

61mm is the clearance available, Noctua NH-L9i and Cryorig C7 both qualified for it.

One 4K monitor is already very hard to drive even with the latest Titan X Pascal (barely hit 60 FPS in most of the titles), and you want 3 to 6 (all 4K?)?!?!

That's a serious gaming showcase plan you got there sweat.gif

1. You can just stick with the stock CPU (Intel HSF) cooler since it is a non-overclockable CPU setup. If you want a 3rd party CPU cooler, something like CM Hyper 212X/Cryorig H7 (below RM 200) will do, make sure the CPU cooler height is within the available clearance value of the casing that you are going to get so it can fit inside nicely.

2. There is no i7 6600K (I assume it is a typo), i7 6700K is probably the one you are looking for, but in order to take advantage of the "K" model of i7 6700, you need a Z170 mobo to overclock it and yes, only Z170 chipset mobo (should be at least RM 550+ for entry level one) can overclock it, if you go for this path, then you confirm need to fork out extra money for a decent 3rd party CPU cooler because i7 6700K doesn't come with any stock cooler from Intel. There are 2 versions of i7 in Skylake, i7 6700 and i7 6700K, "K" means unlocked and is ready for overclocking. You can read more on CPU overclocking to understand more on its benefits and drawbacks online.

3. GSync is a luxurious proprietary technology from Nvidia and it is not cheap to get a monitor with GSync support, the cheapest one is Acer Predator XB241H priced at RM 1899 currently in our local market. It is not necessary to get a monitor with GSync, non-GSync compliance monitor will work fine with Nvidia GPU, what you don't get is the exclusive features of GSync, such as synchronized frame rate with monitor, low input lag and screen tearing. FYI FreeSync (the same offering from AMD side) is much cheaper and you can buy a FreeSync enabled monitor as low as RM 700 in Malaysia, but it is only compatible with AMD card (selected model).

4. Go for full size side window type casing or tempered glass model like Segotep K7 Tempered Glass then biggrin.gif

Your Windows OS license key will be revoked, if you are using OEM key then you will need a new key (or call Microsoft for help or link your current key with your Microsoft account to be able to restore it), for retail key, you can just re-enter the key to activate on the new mobo.

By right, you are recommended to reinstall the OS, but both of the mobo (Asus Z170i Pro Gaming and Maximus VIII Impact) share almost the same components/functionalities and similar chipset, I think you will be able get away with it. Let's see how the OS deal with it biggrin.gif

In case I go with the C7, can I flip the fan & use it in pull config & use the psu as exhaust to pull out hot air from in the case? If no then have to go with noctua. Can save a bit for gpu.

Nope, C7 fan is not "flippable" so pull config is not possible.

1080p (Full HD) monitor is a better choice instead of 4K in this case, this is because if we take three 1080p monitors as example, you will get a combined 5760 x 1080p ultrawide triple screen setup already, and this is an insane resolution to drive, you will probably need at least two GTX1080/Titan X Pascal running at SLI configuration to make the most of out it.

Budget wise, yours is ok, 20K (max) is still a healthy budget for this "crazy" setup smile.gif

Mostly aesthetic and better heat dissipation (just slightly).

Example of metal backplate on a GPU, it looks much nicer right? drool.gif

Intel Core i7 6700K - RM 1550
Asus Z170 Pro Gaming Aura - RM 772
Corsair Vengeance LED 16GB (8GB x 2) DDR4 3200MHz RAM - RM 618
Asus GTX1080 8GB GDDR5 Strix (x 2) - RM 6418
Kingston SSDNow UV400 240GB SSD - RM 315

EVGA Supernova 850 G2 - RM 659
Corsair Hydro H100i V2 - RM 561
Dell UltraSharp U2417H (x 3) - RM 2907

Total: RM 14005 (ETech price inclusive of GST)

I haven't go into "all-in" mode yet, Dell U2417H is chosen mainly because of its super slim bezel which is good for Nvidia surround setup (triple monitors setup), the downside is slower response time (6ms) and 60Hz (still a standard anyway). As for GPU, GTX1080Ti is coming very soon and should be packing with Titan X Pascal's performance at much cheaper price tag than Titan X Pascal (est. RM 4500).
