Well I stated your current CPU is basically an i7 4770 (with all the differences stated in previous sentence) so you don't have to upgrade the CPU (same goes to mobo and RAM unless RAM is not enough) GPU and SSD upgrade more suitable for your budget, a complete CPU platform upgrade would cost you another 1.5k (in average).

GPU uses PCIe to communicate/connect to the main board so this isn't a problem, same goes to SSD, any SATA based SSD will work just fine with your current mobo.

Oh okok. Sorry didn't understand your sentence earlier. tongue.gif How much do I need for an overhaul? hmm.gif

[Budget] : As cheap as possible

[Purpose] Gaming, VR Gaming

[Hardwares that will be re-use] : None

[Monitor resolution]: Not needed

[Personal preferences]: Gtx 1070 and 256 SSD, 16GB Ram

I want to know what will be the cheapest setup with the requirements as above?

Your current CPU is just ~15% behind of the latest Xeon E3 1230 V5, a complete CPU platform overhaul is not worth at all considering the amount you need to pay for in return for the extra little boost.

A complete CPU platform overhaul will cost you:

1. Around 2k (i7 + H170/B150 + 8GB RAM)
2. Around 1.5k (i5 + H170/B150 + 8GB RAM)

CPU - locked i5 (around RM 850) or locked i7 (around RM 1300, recommended)
Mobo - H110/B150 (around RM 350)
RAM - 16GB Value RAM (around RM 400)
GPU - GTX1070 (around RM 2000)
SSD - 240GB (around RM 300)
HDD - 1TB (around RM 200)
PSU - 500W+ (around RM 200)
Standard chassis - around RM 150

Total: RM 4900 (i7 is chosen)

A rough estimation on the total cost needed based on the lowest end/cheapest parts available in the market (since you mentioned "as cheap as possible").

Every time i play games (Dota2), it tend to blackout and i have to force restart the pc. But it worked fine for games like LoL and CSGO.

Is it GPU problem?

If yes, whats the best bang for buck GPU to upgrade. (Budget around 1k+)

Below are my current spec. Thank you.

Intel Core I5 3470
Asrock H77 Pro4/MVP
Gskill SNIPER 2x4GB DDR3 1600mhz
Enermax NAXN82+ 650W PSU
Leadtek GTX670 2GB DDR5
Plextor M5S 128GB SSD
WD 1TB Caviar Blue

Your CPU and GPU are completely fine and good to run Dota 2, are you running the customized (or optimized) settings by Nvidia GeForce Experience app? If yes please restore it to default.

And if possible, please grab the latest driver and use DDU to clean install the GPU driver to wipe all the existing settings.

Alright, since you mentioned you have the similar problem when running other graphics demanding games then I suspect the root cause is the PSU, but you can test the driver sweeping method first.

Another question here, is there any background sound from the games when the screen goes black?

Okay, will do the driver sweeping method first.

Normally, background sound will still continue playing for few seconds after screen goes black and completely cutoff after that few seconds. Then i will force restart it.

There were some times it goes black with some buzzing sound.

What software do you use for editing/designing the clothes? If it uses GPU hardware as accelerator then I might include a capable GPU for it.

The situation is a bit interesting here as fitting an i3 + a decent low end GPU (like GTX750 2GB) will cost slightly more than the available budget, if we "downgrade" the GPU to something like GT730 to keep within the budget, the iGPU of the i3 is technically faster than the GT730 which makes no sense to do this. So I opted for i5 build instead without any dedicated GPU.

Intel Core i5 6400 - RM 802
ASRock H110M-HDV - RM 245
Kingston 8GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 198
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 215
CM Elite Power 350W - RM 126
Asus DVD-ROM SATA - RM 69
Armageddon Vulcan V1x - RM 75

Total: RM 1730 (ETech price inclusive of GST)

Is it cheaper and better to buy hardware at a physical store or just order it online and deal with postage? Because I will visiting KL in the next few weeks and I had plans to buy the hardware there.

it depends, sometimes you buy online combined with shipping, the price is more or less the same with those sold from physical store, however sometimes it comes much cheaper via online, such as those trusted lelong dealers.
