Yes, it's Black and White color. Not sure if the color has anything to do with the cutting tho.
From what I read on the internet, black toes could be due to how the shoe laces are tied. In theory, if your foot is not properly "locked" by the shoelaces, it will slip and move forward within the void, and the toes ended up banging against the tip of the shoes at every stride.
So, I have tried to do a version of runner's knot to lock my feet inside the shoes, but not exactly sure if it is effective as I only dare to use my Deviate Nitro on my shorter 5-7 km runs for now. In addition, I bought some gel like toe protector, put them on before I put on my socks and shoes, and it seems to work, although it is a bit uncomfortable as my toes feel cramped up and not being able to breathe !
The color usually can be indicative of the batch.
Each batch usually have some differences.
For what it's worth I have attached the soles which I shoes that I have access in my house lol
Arranged it by how the width fit into my widest part of my foot; I have blob like footshape which widest part is in the middle; so YMMV.
Asics GT2000 3 4E > Puma Deviate Nitro2 > Rebook Floadride 3 > New balance 880v11 4E > Saucony Guide 15 Woman Wide (should be D; same like male) > Asics GT 1000 9 GS Kids version > Hoka Bondi X > Weinbrenner (free from bata) > Adios 5 > online insole
Surprisingly the width of deviate nitro 2 was almost as wide as my personal all time favorite shoes: Asics GT 2000 4E which also the widest shoes I had access that time.
Maybe I am just lucky to get the wide version of the Deviate Nitro 2?
Adidas adios 5 have very strange shape; which no wonder rubs the bottom of my feet.
The last one was trying to get insole online, intentionally getting oversized but it just longer not wider, unfortunately.

As you mentioned could be slipping, whether on the heel or on the midfoot.
For Deviate Nitro 2 I always use runners knot and have to skip the first lace hole, because that's the part where my foot is the widest. Same goes with most normal D sized shoes.
Out of curiosity. when getting black toes, did you run on slope / downhill?
