have you guys ever count what is the actual return from mbb amex as comapre to this pb vs now ?

with the 5x points and 5% rebate (weekend only), it actually give me 6.25% cash back, with assumption 20k point for rm50 metrojaya voucher.

in that case, i should use amex instead of this pb vs in weekends. anyone has the same thought ?

depends on preference. Some people might prefer the additional 1% in cash terms (form of cash rebate) which is consider instant, though of course 5x points with maybank2amex weekend accountable to 6.25% but to accumulate the points to redeem vouchers will take time.

No right or wrong here. Is subject to each user preference as said.

Amex is not as readily available as visa. So if a merchant allows both cards , in terms of benefits percentage wise , yes , Amex is superior.

My strategy would be to use Amex during the weekends, and PBB for the other stuff. The reason for this is because I am likely to spend more than PBB's RM833 in a month (especially with the current promotion) and my spending for PBB will be on Monday / Tuesday and NOT on weekends.

It is also useful if you are making a transaction which is more than RM833. If you spend RM1,000 on PBB or Amex, you will still get RM50 from each card, but for Amex at least you get the 5x treatpoints as well.

In my opinion, PBB's RM833 quota is insufficient on its own. With Amex you now get an additional RM1,000 to play with.

I look at it this way:-

Amex (excluding utilities, insurance, government, education etc) as 6.25% during weekend, otherwise for those "1x tp items" it is 5.25% on weekend.

Those items that you cant pay with 6% cash back credit card online and on shopee, Amex is good to go during weekend. example: Tokio Marine insurance.

PBVS is 6% for online, dining and groceries - lose to amex during weekend with the exception below that I can think of:-

1) Paying for telecom bills and utilities, with shopee, can get easily another 1% (or more) off. That makes it to 7%.

2) Spending on Monday by swiping 8 x RM50 on Monday itself, 99% chance to get another 12.5% (RM50 for RM400) spent apart from the 7%. Still better than Amex weekend.

3) Even for government bill like MBPJ, DBKL, MBSJ etc, amex during weekend only gives 5% vs PBVS of 6%.

Now with the UOB promo of spending RM500 [on Yolo for online] and get RM50 back (10% equivalent) on top of the usual 6% feature, this promo also makes online spending with UOB YOLO more interesting than PBVS and Amex but must spend the RM500 be very early in the week.

As with all promos and per TNC, supps swipes are counted under principal. Only principal will receive the CB.

Please help to clarify,

If i split my DBKL Assessment Bill (RM400) in UOB Pay Online to RM50 each for 8 swipes, am i entitle for the 6% CB and also the RM50 Weekly 8x swipes promo so total i will get RM74 (RM24 + RM50 = RM74)?

DBKL is a government transaction, so will not qualify for the promo cash back. You will only get the 6% standard cash back for online transactions.

If you really want to pay DBKL to qualify for the promo, use Shopee. Just buy in denominations of RM50. I think there are some sellers offering this service, but I haven't used it myself.

Ouch...i didn't realise Shopee has DBKL payment service. I did used Shopee for my TNB payment to earn few bucks extra on top of my 6% CB.

Will tried it on Shopee for DBKL payment next round only. Just made my payment via UOB PayOnLine cry.gif

Tried once using Shopee but in a day, there was a max of 2 transactions allowed, but I need to clarify whether this has happened to anyone else.

combined principal + supp for spending 5x/8x

e.g. you can swipe 2x from principal + 6x from supp, get cashback rm50 credited into principal account only.

Where can you reload your TnG while getting rebate/rewards?

By using credit cards not just give you cashback for petrol and groceries (or whatever rewards the card is giving you), but you also get cashback by reloading TnG itself. Ergo, the million dollar baby question is, where the heck to find merchants that allow you to reload TnG using credit cards then?

Lucky for you, below are some of the tested merchants to reload TnG using credit cards which offers cashback or points.

Huge credits to all contributors, you know who you are  notworthy.gif
