Another question .. since they have that cash back thing with swipe... is it okay if I swipe rm60 10x for a rm600 bill?
*
In summary:

- If the merchant does a "split bill" (which I understand means one transaction using the same invoice number, but settling it in separate tranches), then it should be disqualified.

- However, if you are doing separate multiple transactions with separate invoices (which is far more common), this should qualify. PBB hasn't imposed the "multiple swipes transaction at same merchant" restriction like HSBC or Citibank. If you read HSBC / Citi promo T&Cs, they will typically say things like "2 (or 3) or more transactions at the same merchant on the same day will be disqualified". PBB just restricts "split" transactions.

So far I have won RM50 for each of the 4 weeks. (Week 4 came in today!). I always do multiple transactions e.g. pay Unifi / Maxis / Digi bills (RM60 x 8 times) or buy vouchers at AEON / Isetan / Parkson (RM60 x 8 times). Since the promo began, only do online or voucher transactions so I can maximise the effective cashback.

Hope this helps?

Yep, the last part, where do you pay the bills? Online via their portal or places like UOBpay?
*
Successful attempts:
- Maxis: Portal (hotlink top-up via web) + UOB Payonline (for Maxis postpaid)
- Unifi: Portal + UOB Payonline
- Digi: UOB Payonline (for Digi postpaid)

Other things I've tried:
- Grabcar (useful for airport 65+ tolls)
- Lazada
- All dining
- Amazon (top-up gift card multiple times in denomination of RM60 equivalent)

Were you able to get 6% rebate for transactions on Grabcar or Uber?
*
I'm not sure, as I totally maxed out the 6% and was aiming for the promo swipes (since need to spend minimum RM480 per week).

However, for my CIMB Cash Rebate, I did not receive "5% for Online" for Grab or Uber via the mobile app.

QUOTE(kingsway @ Jul 22 2016, 11:08 PM)
Is it better to apply for this card as a principal? Or there is no difference compared to a sup card?

Thanks for your feedback
*
Some general pointers:

- Applying separately as a principal may be beneficial when there are good sign up promos (i.e. free stuff). Also, free airport lounge access is PER PRINCIPAL (i.e. 3 free lounge entries is combined for principals + subs). So if you intend to use the lounge more than 3 times per year, worth considering this point.

- If the above does not matter to you, then applying as a supp is a good option provided you opt for separate statements (tick the correct box in the application form). This will enable each supp to its own 6% cashback (subject to RM50 monthly limit). If you read the past few posts, some supps have had difficulty applying for online banking (and online statements) where they don't have CASAs. I remember reading that there is a solution to this, but I have not personally tried it so cannot comment further.

- Having a principal + several supps may help you with achieving the eligible spend for PBB's many promos. Based on previous experience, there have been several promos based on "swipe RMXX for XX times per week and win RMXX on first come first served basis". For example, the current promo is swipe RM60 5 times (RM20 cash back) or 10 times (RM50 cash back). Achieving the requisite number of swipes alone as a principal may be difficult. So your supps can help you. However, promo cashback will only be credited to the principal account.

Based on my tracking of last transactions, I received the RM50 for 8 swipes for all the following weeks:

Week 4: Sunday 3 July
Week 5: Wednesday 6 July

The following weeks are my last transactions - not yet paid out, but all 8 swipes fulfilled:

Week 6: Tuesday 12 July
Week 7: Tuesday 19 July
Week 8: In progress

Frankly I think it's still OK to swipe later in the week because the RM60 criteria is not easy to fulfil. And utilities are excluded. Plus, the return isn't fantastic, so many people make not want to make the extra effort.

Would u mind to share what u swipe every week?
*
Mainly:

Digi, Maxis, Unifi via UOB Pay Online. I pay for my husband and relatives, and don't mind overpaying

Vouchers at AEON, Aeon Big, Isetan and Parkson - Today I swiped 8x RM60 in Parkson vouchers, and using them on Friday Bonus Link day to help my mum buy a luggage. The RM50 + Bonuslink points + bonus Parkson vouchers will be my commission haha.

Lazada

Grab car to airport (I travel a lot)

Daily lunch with my colleagues (I pay first, split bill later)

So far I've won all 5 weeks, and should qualify for all weeks to date. Am aiming to qualify for all if possible.

T&C

16. Split Qualified Retail Transactions are disallowed and shall be disqualified.  confused.gif  confused.gif  confused.gif

Note - This issue has been discussed in depth before (please do a search on split transactions for further details):

- A "split" transaction is generally a transaction where you have ONE purchase, but pay twice (e.g. you buy a diamond ring, receive one invoice, but split the payment). I have never done a split transaction in my life so I don't fully understand the mechanics.

- The above is different from "multiple transactions from the same merchant" e.g. you buy 8x gift vouchers at AEON, one after another.

- Based on my experience with all past PBB promo cashback campaigns, it is currently OK to swipe several times with the same merchant. All my past 5 weeks' transactions have involved repeated consecutive transactions (one straight after another) at the same merchant (e.g. vouchers, paying Maxis, Digi, Unifi etc).

If PBB decides to change the rules, then I'm sure that forummers will alert everyone else. I will definitely do this.

Oh shit, i read back the T&C after I see your post and found that the eligible swipe amount is RM60. No wonder I have not been getting any CB as I thought it is RM50  mega_shok.gif Luckily all still getting the normal 6%
*
Oh no!! Yes - the RM60 is VERY inconvenient. Have to buy vouchers in odd denominations (e.g. RM20 x 3) or (RM50 + RM10). So silly. That's why I think its a lot harder for people to fully utilise the cashback, unless they really strategise and plan their spending.

Good luck for the upcoming weeks!

Yes, as indicated on 2nd post:

According to PB Customer Service
• Cashback calculation is based on Statement Month and credited on Statement Date
• Maximum RM50 per month, equivalent to RM833.33 spend
• "Please be informed that you will enjoy the 6% rebate if it is a eCommerce transaction including bill payment/insurance (exclude transaction via www.pbebank.com). courtesy of laymank
• PDF eStatement from PBe portal will be available 2 days after Statement Date

Update to non-qualifying transactions list:

Not sure if addressed previously, but based on my 6 Grab Teksi and Uber transactions (via mobile app) in July, these do not qualify for the 6% online rebate.

However, they do qualify for the 5x / 8x swipe promo.

Anyone else had different experience? I keep track using Excel so info should be accurate.

Please update first post. Thanks smile.gif.

Uber more than RM60? I thought uber should be counted..
*
All transactions above 60 because 6 trips to and from airport for Raya and Summer hols. I assumed both would be counted, but my cashback received in July says otherwise.

I had a similar expired with CIMB CR card in May - Grab and Uber were not counted.

Oh man, I'm so sorry! Thanks for pointing out. Yes, I meant to say DO NOT qualify for 6%, but DO qualify for Save More.

Sorry for causing confusion, and really glad you spotted it! Will edit post smile.gif.

I cannot confirm on TNB, but my DBKL, Syabas and Unifi via UOB Payonline all qualified for the standard 6% based on most recent statement (3 August). I have a supplementary card with separate statement purely dedicated to paying those bills so I can track easily and only spend exactly RM833 monthly on that card.

I only use my principal cards to take part in 5x / 8x promos and always assume that govt and bills (apart from mobile, Astro and internet) do not qualify.

Things have been very quiet on the Save More cashback campaign. I hope we see a wave of cashback come in soon.
