QUOTE(dogbert_chew @ Oct 8 2024, 10:36 AM) Wow, congratulations on your first post in LYN after joining 12 years ago! 🎉 Thanks for the reply. I will have a look at them. Mazda do not have any plans to sell the hybrids in Malaysia anytime soon ?Here are 5 hybrids suggested for test drive.
Yaris Cross hybrid eta 1st half 2025. Mazda Hybrids are not yet sold here. Excluded Serena due to poor reliability, service & X90 as it is still new unproven track record. |

1. Brand : Any
2. Budget : Less than RM200k 3. New/Used/Unreg : no restriction 4. Specs : MVP, large vehicle, long term family use 5. Transmission : AT of cuz 6. NA or FI : no issue with that 7. Type : MVP 8. Remarks : Looking for mvp for family use. spacious, economy and long lasting. Vellfire/Alphard abit overbudget, Kia Carnival seems nice but also budget sketch too much dy. Thinking of Tiggo 8 pro due to recent discount. Im not in rush to get any cars yet so i am looking for suggestions and can wait till 2025. |

Carnival is quarter million liao, If want to consider China models like Chery then have to take risk for long lasting. Even Geely X90 also unproven but seems to have little complaints so far. But Japan models like Nissan is also risky due to inconsistent quality and support from TCM. My recommendation is to test drive Toyota Zenix with the new TNGA chassis and Dynamic Force engine for reliable people carriers with 200K budget. Alternative is the older Mazda CX-8 see if you can accept the base model fittings. ongth60 liked this post

QUOTE(dogbert_chew @ Oct 14 2024, 06:00 PM) Ya, the most important aspect BEFORE deciding, So I test drove Must test drive, a few times. And bring family, relatives, friends so that you can sit at the back too. 1. Chery tiggo 7 pro 2. Mazda cx30 3. Jaecoo j7 4. Toyota corolla cross 5. Honda City 6. Honda HRV Cx30 gave me the best driving experience, but the space is too small. Tiggo and jaecoo are decent, but I'm still skeptical about the brand and didn't fall in love with them during test drive. I drove cross during my trip in Japan. But the cross in Malaysia has a more old fashioned interior and didn't feel the same as the Japan model ( no dual zone aircond, fully digital meter etc etc ). HRV... Turbo engine is fun but worries about historical issues with HRV and probably more oil consuming. So then I was thinking, why not save the extra 30k and try city instead, and I was quite happy with City RS model. I couldn't convince myself to spend an extra 30k for above models because they didn't really stand out for me. And then I was almost certain to buy a Honda City RS.. but I found one thing that I couldn't give up on.. the Electric parking brake. Only city hybrid model has it.. but for a person that only drives on weekends and occasionally crossing state every 2 or 3 months.. I don't think it'll be good for the battery. Now I'm in a dilemma would I need to jump start my battery a lot if I seldom drive the hybrid model (sometimes I go overseas for 2 weeks too)? Should I just give up on EPB and get the petrol rs model? 🤔 This post has been edited by TendouSouji: Nov 18 2024, 08:14 AM |

Just spend some time whatapps a few SA for the X90 rebates in their FB groups, sure many will assist to give their best rebates

It's just an electric motor to simulate the action of a manual lever-cable system when engaging or disengaging the brake pads. Doesn't use batteries to keep your car parked. My 10 year old cars are left parked up to 2 months without issues, in my case batteries only flat when they are defective, alternators not charging them when engine is running or there are electrical discharge in old wirings. Heard of Toyota Cross Hybrid having to jumpstart due to not using it for ~ 2 weeks. That's why I highlighted my concern. Maybe your 10 years old cars have better build compare to modern day cars? But since you say it's not a worry then I might just go ahead and buy the City Hybrid. Thanks for reply guys! This post has been edited by TendouSouji: Nov 18 2024, 10:23 AM |

The current Corolla Cross Hybrid does not have EPB. It still uses the foot parking brake. Only the new incoming facelift just opened for booking few days ago has EPB.Maybe your 10 years old cars have better build compare to modern day cars? But since you say it's not a worry then I might just go ahead and buy the City Hybrid. Meaning what you heard about having to jumpstart the Cross Hybrid should be more of a general electrical issue. It is likely a rare occurrence as the Cross Hybrid is the reliable Prius in disguise. However the jumpstart sequence for hybrid cars is not a straight forward process, probably better elaborated in a separate thread. Make sure you get the substantial discounts offered if intend to register your new car by this year 😎 This post has been edited by dogbert_chew: Nov 18 2024, 10:42 AM TendouSouji liked this post

I guess it's really down to luck. guess eventhough it is a hybrid, it still use the conventional normal battery 12V to run the accesories etc. the normal battery will k.o one day, same as normal car battery, eventhough it is in hybrid form. maybe by running it or start it more, the alternator will kick some juice for the battery, hence it will last a bit longer than when put it in off at extended time (2 weeks, 2 months). if it died, the 12V battery is replaceable at acceptable price, use battery apps also easy for customers nowadays. You're right for HRV, but then probably I have to worry about HRV's steering rack issues as well.
