QUOTE(SoyaBamboo @ Jul 24 2016, 12:12 AM) Regarding the rental at singapore, do we need to pay the agent fee? or the owner of the apartment will for it? You find agent and hire them then you pay . Usually is hired by landlord already . You can only nego the price with landlord . Because agent is hire by them they will try to persuade you to accept the price . Apartment is expensive . Usually you will just rent HBD flat . This post has been edited by xyrotix: Jul 24 2016, 12:32 AM

QUOTE(the99percent1 @ Jul 23 2016, 11:33 PM) Yup...something low like that. Better you remit your funds to ringgit and leave it in a Malaysian fd @ 4% per month. Not a wise decision to remit to MYR unless you have use for it like settling your loan, buying house, etc. Exchange rate fluctuation will easily wipe out your 4% FD rate if you remit at wrong timing. I Kena last time. Also Msia FD will not stay 4% all the time. Singapore economy is stronger compared to Msia. If you don't intend to invest and just by staying put your fund in SG without touching it is a better choice

If you have an agent who represents you then you pay your agent (and landlord pays his agent). Market practice is 1/2 month (each) per year of the lease.

The ones that I found are usually agents asking for the commission. I'm using sites such as propertyguru.com, 99.co, and nestia. Although easyroommates.com no agents but very low number of selections available. Maybe you can explain further the process to not having to pay for the commission?

QUOTE(knwong @ Jul 23 2016, 09:11 PM) MOM won't stop you changing job. It's free market. Just 15% income tax to deduct from last pay But the company that you resigned from may imposed penalties for resigning early. My advise, just stay on in the company and slowly gain experience and network (more important). 15% is deduct from last pay, do you mean is basic salary, commission and other etcs. Let's said my salary is 1000 and commission is 500, so total 1500*0.15 = 225 for the income tax right? For my company, it did not stated any penalties imposed to me if I resign, just need to give one day notice to them This post has been edited by stargazer92: Jul 24 2016, 09:22 AM

Find the room you want or just tell them the place you want . No agent fee because most of them advertise by landlord or agent . Those agent is represent landlord .

SGD1300/month as expenses methinks is the consensus, but that means no gundams and toys <-- particularly relevant in your case This post has been edited by madmoz: Jul 25 2016, 10:23 AM

I've just received my IPA today. Just some questions about medical check-up.
1. How long normally will it take for the report to be done? 2. Is it a norm for company to cover the check-up expenses? The company did not offer me but should I ask them? 3. Any recommendation of which clinic to go?

First thing is, under medical check-up, does it say "declaration" or "Required" or something? 2. The company will cover the check-up, they will recommend which clinic to go to. To be done in SG.

QUOTE(playstan211 @ Jul 25 2016, 11:48 AM) In-Principal Approval Is a letter stating that your pass has been approved. Inside it contains various information such as name, passport, company, FIN, pass duration, salary etc. IPA is useful as it is the main reference for various things including banks, rental, mobile etc. before working in SG. The company will cover the check-up, they will recommend which clinic to go to. To be done in SG. I did not find anything about declaration or require something. However, the HR told me that once they receive the medical report, they will then issue the pass and I can start working. They did not recommend me anything about which clinic to go and also say anything about the expenses. I have just sent them a mail asking about any recommendation and the expenses. Will wait and see what they say. Do you know normally how long it takes for the report to be done? THanks
