May I know how many Resume you sent in before you get you first job in Singapore?
One. My SG colleague was leaving, asked me if I want to join, then recommended me to her boss.

QUOTE(ghodul @ Jun 17 2016, 05:52 PM) Based on you guys exp, can I just move out? I still have remaining 4 months contract with the owner for now.... Depends on your relationship with owner and what it says on your contract lor. My tenancy contract allows either of us to terminate early with no penalty with 2 mths notice. |

QUOTE(ghodul @ Jun 17 2016, 11:04 PM) Hope u guys can give me some advice... Nothing to advise, your contract already crystal clear what. Just talk to your landlord and explain the situation and see whether he/she willing to accommodate you. If can't then just stay another 4 months, that's hardly a long time. |

QUOTE(rookie93 @ Jun 18 2016, 10:26 PM) otherwise, seems like need to spam so many flight trips down to do every stage of the application once you have your IPA you can legally start work liao. so it's you get IPA then relocate to SG and start work and in the first few weeks of working then go medical check up, convert IPA to EP card. |

QUOTE(simonhtz @ Jul 4 2016, 12:41 AM) Matter of preference here, do you guys still maintain your Malaysia cellphone number? Switch it to prepaid, cheaper plan or even cancel it I keep a Malaysia number (Xpax prepaid, buy 1-year validity) for Malaysia TACs and Internet whenever I go back home. But having said that I think nowadays Malaysia banks some already can put SG number for TAC, and some SG telcos like M1 you can data roam in MY for 'free.' |

madmoz can consider mileage accrual cards, too. I'm too lazy to min-max multiple cards so I just use Citibank PM visa & Amex. Collect enough miles liao then change to KrisFlyer and fly SQ suites

QUOTE(kevin613 @ Jul 6 2016, 11:29 PM) U must be charging 6 digits tu your cards yearly to collect enough miles for suites... manyak kaya... I'm using citibank PM visa too for 3rd year now, but I doubt I have enough miles even for one person to go business class QUOTE(bearbear @ Jul 7 2016, 08:01 AM) SIA suites one way to japan cost 60k miles, considering that Citibank PM offer 1.2 miles per $1, that is $50k spending. 51k miles only cos there's 15% discount if you redeem online. Between 2miles/$ overseas (i.e. Malaysia) spend, 6-10 miles/$ Expedia/Agoda promos, and annual fee miles credits, the accrual rate is actually quite a bit quicker than one might expect. But yes, having said that, you do need a decent level of expenditure to make it 'worthwhile,' otherwise better to go for a cash back card I guess. |

QUOTE(specopsmarines @ Jul 13 2016, 02:34 PM) My concern is, is not getting E pass or S pass something I need to be worried about. Work Permit for unskilled immigrants (those ppl who work as maids, etc) normally got limitations like can't marry Singaporean or PR and can't get pregnant otherwise SG will ask you to GTFO; but these limitations are normally waived for educated hires. Here and there you might find some inconvenience with applying for loans, credit cards, etc cos some organizations treat WP vs EP differently. If I'm not mistaken, Work Permit holder not eligible to apply for PR (but normally you need to work few years before applying anyway, so there's time for you to find a new company that will do an S Pass / EP for you if you want to use this one as a stepping stone). QUOTE(xyrotix @ Jul 14 2016, 12:07 PM) After IPA you need to reach sg . Then agent will make apointment to pass document . The appointment letter can work for 1 month . Ipa letter cannot work Grajindo don't listen to this wrong information. You can totally start work legally with the IPA, and do the fingerprinting, medical check-up, and other processes to get the formal EP card in the meantime. |

QUOTE(hidekoywk @ Jul 18 2016, 08:53 AM) I am from banking sales background (mostly), thinking to go SG work as banking back office support/customer services/ or other possibility. As you can see from responses in this thread, lots of Malaysians still getting jobs in SG. But for your target of banking back office ... very little chance. For starters, most banks are in the process of moving (or have already moved) BO roles to cheaper places. On top of that, BO entry level is unspecialized, so there's plenty of supply from local SC/SPR fresh grads. Same story with CS. It's not impossible, no harm trying, just want to set the right expectations. |
