QUOTE(hurtedheart @ Jul 6 2016, 05:27 PM) I am still getting 4% based on 366days calculation. You are asking this question, is it you got yours less than 4%? nope just wondering cos i just started with e-gia after one of my longstanding efd just completed its tenure. Since mbb e-fd promo rates are no longer there, thought i move my funds to GIA instead of board rates which is around 3.3 for 12 months..pretty sucky.. dont want to go through the hassle of normal FD on other banks unless they have easy e-fd (call me lazy - i know)

E-FD is indeed very convenient. I am more willing to forgo 0.25% to 0.50% from some banks promo rate and stick to the 4% of GIA since my placement is not huge and more importantly I do not have the convenience to visit the bank so frequently. Placing FD over the counter for board rates does not seem sensible

QUOTE(Ramjade @ Jul 4 2016, 07:01 PM) You can do that with Maybank eGIA-i. How? 1. Make placement. Select duration (not important) 2. Uplift whenever you need/whenever you need to add RM1k, 3. Replace w=together with new money + 4% interest given. QUOTE(cybpsych @ Jul 5 2016, 06:45 AM) yes, correct page. u cant see it in "FD product" because it's not an FD. technically it's a Shariah-compliant investment account. in case you're wondering: anyone can apply for this. Just curious about this: Am I right to assume that at the end of the day, the interest I gain is only 4% * 70% = 2.8%?

The ratio is the Islamic Banking way of representing only. Interest kan haram. So they go do business with your money, then the profit they get they will give to you 70% of it.
It just 'so happens' only the rate they give you confirm sure (sort of) 4%.

So for my calculation purpose I can assume 4% profit on my end then, right? Cause I was calculating based on the 70% macam doesn't make sense, too low

First, only refer the first table for the basic (e-)GIA-i rate of 4%. Second, refer the indicate rate 4% that you get. ignore the PSR, it's just FYI on how the profit ratio is split. Third, ignore the 2nd table. it's for an old campaign.

QUOTE(mmiau @ Jul 7 2016, 01:47 PM) If I transfer money from HLB A to MBB today and go to MBB to place a FD two days later, is that still considered new fund? Today is Thursday 7 July. You cannot go to a closed MBB bank to place FD in 2 days on Saturday 9 or if you mean Sunday 10. If you ask the staff, be careful how you understand bank working days period for fresh funds and how they actually practice it if you want to use their answer in future. There are also questions of interstate transfers (KL, Selangor, Gemas, Tanjong Malim etc) for those staying near state borders. Effects from special state holidays, make-up off days for holidays and last minute holiday declared for some event, besides the states normal off days/working days.

QUOTE(Deal Hunter @ Jul 6 2016, 09:05 PM) Maybe you look like RM5 million dollar man, so kena ketuk by the branch. One time, a bank manager suggest RM 1 million deposit at special rate - after that I never dress nice to go to bank. If go Sentral, you may want to check whether Affin Bank Bangsar Baru is still on with minimum 10 k. Telephone number is in their branch location webpage. Can telephone direct and not get any wrong reply. Bansar area hard to find parking - another reason to bye bye. If kfh really opens on weekends, parking at nu sentral is only rm4. I'll call them tmr.
