i am very disappointed when i go to maybank to open a FD account. 1st i open account at A branch and deposited a FD. then i go to B branch wanted to deposit into the same account but was told cannot do it due to my account not belongs to B branch.

when i ask further again they say you have to deposit at the home branch where you can withdraw at any branches.

does it true?

I suppose you have some sort of reason for your guess. I like to guess too. But can you help me with a few facts, experience or perceptions on the following Questions for a better guess? :-
A) The BNM is really independent and does the logical thing at the time when it can, and does not miss the boat.?
B) The BNM is powerless and depends on what the boss says or wants (whoever that is)?
C) A committee decides and the decision depends on the quality of those present to consider all factors logically.?
D) The chairman or some member has the final say or sway?
E) BNM are very professisional, open minded and patriotic and not affected by personal bias, comformity or fear of being criticised or held responsible implementing what they decide is best for the country?
If I knew how much each factor is, probably the answer will be correct so that can know what to do with plans for FD fund placements -allocations and timings and strategy to use.
Thanks.

sorry guys newbie here,
just to share what I been advise from a PRO FD investor.

was told if you have large amount of excessive money and not good on share market. The ways to make some additional CASH from bank is through FD.

This PRO had about few millions in FD. He share with me how he make the money grow in FD. Earlier was heavy lost on unreliable share market and he is not good on it. So he workout a better and guarantee return investment.

the formula what he told me as below:

presume the FB interest is 1 month 3.25% and compare 3 month 3.30%.

month amount interest rate total
1 10,000.00 3.25% 27.08 10,027.08
2 10,027.08 3.25% 27.16 10,054.24
3 10,054.24 3.25% 27.23 10,081.47

month amount interest rate total
3 10,000.00 3.30% 27.50 10,027.50

Most of the banker will approach you by offer you a higher interest for longer period such as 3 months onward.
But when you work out as formula above, actually if you put in 1 month FD you could earn better. (if you put the interest add in, auto renew).
And additional benefit for short term is you could withdraw any time when u require without loosing half of the interest profit. Let say tight up 6months or 12 months, and emergency need CASH.

This PRO although he is CASH cow, he still prefer split his MONEY is several FD. (he told me about 100 over piece FD document).
If any bank have special promotion you can withdrawn ASAP and reinvest even within same company BANK.

Just my humble sharing, if any above is inaccurate please ignore.
apologies for in convenient cause.

But correct me if I'm wrong, this only applies to board rate FD.

For promo rate usually bank will impose a rule where whenever the OPR changes, bank reserves the right to change your promo FD rate despite already locked in.

Once rate printed on FD certificate, banks needed to honor the rate.. Rate change only when u want to deposit after opr change...

Once u have lock-in rates based on board/promo rate, the rates will stay until it mature
