For those intending to hop on the 4.5% Interest for 12 Months FD at Affin bank, my advice is to do so quickly. According to one of the officers at Affin, they have already achieved more than half of their allocated quota. When I was there at their branch, a lot of people who came in to enquire or to place FD because of the 4.5% promo.

Last time I opened CASA account at MBB PJ (which is 25km away from my home) also they're asking me this. They strongly advised me to go back to my hometown branch to open instead of the PJ one. Their reason is because next time if I want to withdraw >25K I can only do it at the branch where I opened my account.
In the end I did successfully open the account, but then they also asked me to write and sign a statement that I'm fully aware and I insist to open at their branch.

I guess your case is because 1 year later when you want to withdraw your FD you need to come back to the same branch, so will be troublesome for you and them.

well it's expected the quota is fast finishing.. the promo is among the best now on the market..
and everyone is rushing before the BNM meeting.. there's risk they might reduce OPR..

Come to think of it, I've actually never thought of approaching them to know how they calculate the interests and compound them. I just use the rough monthly
Compounding method on excel lol. It's always getting numbers higher than what in get from the banks hahaha must be the holidays and weekends lol!!!
Well idk what a headaches people get? But I'm happy with my 4.2% at CIMB. Lol tongue.gif

Is it over the counter FD?

frens,

wanna ask those who have placed the KFH FD promotion 12m @4.35%
with upfront interest:

Do you get the upfront interest same day you place the FD or must go back another day?

Do u need open Savings account?

Quite a hassle as i have closed my SA previously. and troublesome go back again just to take the interest.
*
Interest/Profit will be credited into CASA 3 biz days later. Savings account need RM100 to open, but no other fees. Free debit card. I pre-signed another FD form to deposit a top up value + up front profit, the staff will create a new FD for me as soon as the profit goes into my SA, however, still need to go back to the branch to collect physical certificate.

Overall, very good service from the Sentral staff.

Affin bank branches are usually not crowded. When I went there just now, there werent anybody in the bank but I had to wait for 5 mins before they called my number. If not for the 4.5%, I wouldn't even walk in to that bank. laugh.gif

Some Public and hong leong bank branches, when you press for the queue no on the machine, you are almost called instantly to the counter.
