I got my iPhone yesterday! Learning to jailbreak it and installing apps on it was HELL! I'm no noobie when it comes to these things but if you have vista-64 bit.. watch out! A lot of things doesn't really work!
Best to use a regular vanilla 32-bit windows XP for the task! By the way - anyone knows how to set up GPRS/Edge with maxis? This post has been edited by tarpaucase: Sep 23 2007, 08:57 AM |

how about call them and ask them ? I think they will activate once u let them know ? I don't know for sure but out of instinct I'll say u have to let them know and they will assist u with that no problemo.

iBrickr is just a way to access the internal file structure of the iPhone. You can upload or download files, onto or off the iPhone using this. But the first time you use this, it is meant as breaking into the iPhone and setting it free, hence the word Jailbreaking the iPhone. To fully unlock the iPhone, there are more steps required to be done.
Once you have done the unlock, your iPhone should stay unlocked, even if you do a restore. This is the case of my iPhone, i have restored twice using iTunes 7.3, and im using the old iUnlock/iUnlocker method that requires that 20 minutes baseband patch via OpenSSH. At that time, there arent all this fancy schmancy GUI-based unlocking applications like AnySim yet. I cannot comment on other methods as i have not done so by these other methods , nor if i can comment on the iPhone staying unlocked if you use these other methods. Im still using iTunes 7.3, so the custom ringtones loophole is still open for me. Once you move up to iTunes 7.4.2, that loophole is closed, you cant do custom ringtones uploading via iTunes anymore, but you can still upload them via iBrickr after renaming them. Or use iToner. Either way, read up the posts on Hackint0sh forum, im not really interested in custom ringtones that much, im happy with the default ones. |

One thing I must say about using the iPhone.. after so long of suffering the insane "hourglass" loading icon of the MS Mobile Platform.. the iPhone is *FAR FAR* more responsive. Everything just "works".. ya know?
Wifi?.. settings, turn on, pick open network.. works. Open and closing apps.. no dreaded "loading" icon. It's responsive! Viewing images and thumbnails.. fast! No silly waiting for ms mobiles to load or all that crap.. 600mhz xscale processors or no. The mobile safari is amazing. The way it detects the web elements.. when you double tap to zoom in to read.. it's just so intuitive. Death to wap!!! I'll try to get some pictures up later And guys, it's never as simple as "One-step-unlock" as I found out. You need to "Jailbreak" it.. which might be a pain. new phones will need to download the 1.0.2 firmware which.. to me, was close to 100mb! takes awhile to update.. sync.. jailbreak.. upload a lockdownd file to a certain location, put the installer app inside.. only THEN are you able to go about it. Man.. was I fooled by anysim so-called "one-step" solution Anyone got Maxis EDGE working with the iphone ?? I'm still clueless about that Added on September 23, 2007, 12:00 pmI think Maxis ought to get their act together with regards to the call-in issue. Kuwait's ZAIN managed to resolve it within like 24 hours or so according to these blogs? It also might be linked to the fact that Maxis's EDGE network is operating on NOM2 rather than NOM1.. something about an established data network will make your line useless ..cannot call in. http://k.thekuwaiti.com/index.php/2007/09/...phone/#comments Hey wei.. any news from the maxis guy? Since it's sunday.. I don't expect miracles..heh. Probably updating tower firmwares and all that might require applying for permissions, etc etc... Added on September 23, 2007, 1:43 pmHey.. SMS in works from maxis to maxis btw. Just received and sms from my friend... and I paired the iphone with a sony ericsson HBH-610 bluetooth headset withour any problems - for those who's been wondering. btw about someone earlier in this thread that speculated that it could be a NOM2 / NOM1 issue?.. probably not it.
Irwan's on maxis roaming in the states (AT&T is the roaming partner).. can receive calls. he's on NOM2 like me in malaysia.. also checked.. its NOM2. Disabled Edge.. still cannot receive calls...QQ |

Forget about the online contact form. You can't even filled it up nicely as there's no Apple & no iPhone listed. Even if you did emailed, all you get its sales rep telling you there's no support because it's not official in Malaysia, blah blah blah.
Just hold on for few more days, I should get update from insider. |

I think Navizon will only work if the provider install something on their side...
Don't think that's in malaysia yet |
