Got meself an Iphone 2 days back, shipped to my LA home. Currently stuck in "phoneless" mode, all other functions accessible. Looking for solutions to bail out of AT&T deal.

Lexta, UGPM. Im pretty apprehensive when it comes to cracking open the Iphone, but all other resellers listed at IphoneSimFree have exhausted their licenses.

Are there other solutions other than doing it via hardware tinkering? I'll be back in Malaysia in 4 days and will be looking to anyone with a solution.

Oh BTW, got it for for USD399.

As for the unlocking, what's your preferred method, Wei?

Back home now , in KL. Sorry to those requesting to get iPhones for them, im already here, and my scouring of the Apple Stores only came about during the last few days of my stay in the US, and im pretty much overwhelmed with setting up my home there. I apologize again.

Also, good news on the unlocking part, Celcom works beautifully on mine. The unlocking, when followed step-by-step, is a no-brainer. May opt to get a Digi account to see how it performs on EDGE, a significant downgrade for me since im used to 3G/3.5G speeds.

Again i apologize to those asking for my help purchasing the iPhone. My stay went really hectic during the last few days, i couldnt devote much time to do much scouring. I was in LA and Orlando/Miami/Tampa during my last 16 days, but mostly spent on getting my home "makeover" there, decor, wall paneling, furnishing...the works... as well as flying off to Florida for my anniversary with my beloved. I may be back in the States on November/December though.

Had a last minute trip to Floida Mall for a quick peek at their just released iPod Touch, cant resist although darling beloved warned against doing things outside vacationing. tongue.gif Upon inspection, im glad i went the iPhone way, the screens are much much better on the iPhone compared to the iPod Touch. There are visible lag issues with video playback on the iPod Touch too. Other differences would be the thickness(or in this caes the thinness) of the two products, the Touch being thinner, but im not a subscriber of the RAZR mindset (thinner=better). iTunes Wifi Store is up and running on the iPod Touch, but not on retail iPhones bought off store counter, although the display units of the iPhones in the Apple Store does have the iTunes iconon it, and accessible as well. Didnt check for the firmware update version, like i said , i was in a hurry to the airport.

Special thanks goes to Lexta for his tips and info on the unlocking part, you rule, buddy!

Hmmmm , had my first glitch today, concerning text messages and missed calls. Left the phone on the car seat while driving, didnt notice that by the time car was parked , and the iPhone retrieved, there's already 3 missed calls, and 4 incoming text messages. Tried opening the text message, and got booted out into the main screen every single time. Luckily had my trusted UMPC with me, did a Restore, and everything went okay back again. The unlock is permanent in firmware 1.0.2, but i had to re-enable Youtube to get it running back up again. *FYI, the unlock i use disabled Youtube, but a simple batch file kicks it back to life again.* .The rest is a simple sync back into the iPhone.

Tried logging into my iTunes account, but been getting error messages since yesterday, is the whole damn thing down, or is it disabling my access 'cos im back in KL, not LA?

Question to current iPhone users, how are you protecting your iPhone? Got myself a clear case with protective film (screen protector on this part of the world, it's called tongue.gif), as well as leather holster (again, called "pouch" back here). The clear case's been working wonders had to keep a wipe cloth that comes with the phone with me all the time every single time im poking the thing to life. tongue.gif

But that's of little concern now, where's my iTunes access goddamnit!?

P/S: Is there any market for a 5G 30Gb iPod Video around here (for immediate sale, i mean), or should i keep it? The roomy 160Gb Coverflow version had me salivating already.

Another question to those having iPhones unlocked. Does the Maxis call-in no-service blanketing refers to the ability to call out and receive calls on a Maxis sim card/call account, or does it also extend to the ability to receive calls from Maxis users to an iPhone user as well?

To put it simply:-

iPhone on Maxis to Maxis/Digi/Celcom =! call out and receive calls

What about iPhone users on Digi/Celcom to normal cellphone users on Maxis? Are iPhone users on these networks subject to the same restrictions, as in users using iPhone on Digi/Celcom network unable to receive calls or make calls to users on Maxis?

Am i making any bloody sense here? rclxub.gif

Anyone using must-have software on the iPhone for now ? I was thinking of hacking mine  then again I don't see any incentive for me to do it. So far all I did is the ringtones hack which is relatively a must-have.

I am actually glad to hear that iphone is fully-compatible now in Malaysia. By the time I am home, I won't miss any features at all.
*
Im refraining from installing much right now, since the news saying that new firmware updates will break the third-party apps, not to mention the unlock. The only thing im mildly interested on is iSaber, which uses the accelerometers on the iPhone and uses those figures to simulate lightsaber movements, complete with sound as well. Beta, but still.......

anyone here get iphone fr state and ask fren ship to malaysia???u all using fedex?any tax declaration hav to do when we pick up the thing?

and hw bout unlock part?anyone successfull done it urself?

I was in the States last two weeks, and got myself an iPhone once the price reduction was made real. Not that it matters though since i could it shipped to my LA home and get my beloved to ship it to me. Did the unlocking myself, iBrickr + OpenSSH way. Then re-enabled the Youtube using Pacay batch application. Right now, it's made even easier with the GUI interface programmed into the unlocking application, which negates the need to dabble in OpenSSH command strings.

iphone.unlock.no

Go there and check it out yourself. If it is too complicated, then i guess somebody's about to get lucky from you.

Im not paying anyone anything for things i can do for myself, and provided for free.

Hi, new to this forum. Get to know a guy that's selling iPhone on auctioning site. I was told his iPhone can be used on all network operators(Maxis,Celcom and Digi) and has been tested. How far this is true? He is selling for RM2,500 by the way and i don't mind paying to avoid all the hassle and anticipation you get from ordering it online. Thx
*
One word: Cutthroat. The most of the total cost i would surmise is RM2000, and he's pocketing RM500 as clean profit. Trust me, the unlocking is easy as pie. Dont get conned.

I implore you to exhaust other avenues before going for this. The phone only costs RM1500 (after tax) .Unlocking is available FREE, if you spend a little bit of your time looking, which costs nothing.

I dont know if this is a well-known fact or if it does come with your unlocking method, but i've got the Voicemail button on the iPhone to work with my Celcom Postpaid voicemail number.

Press *5005*86*xxx# then press CALL

xxx is the number you dial to get to your voicemail. For Celcom Postpaid, it's 1313, so it's *5005*86*1313# and then CALL.

i just did one iphone unlocking...guess wat,SUCCESS!!

question:can sumone confirm me,does bluetooth headset works wit the iphone?
i dun have..tongue.gif

It should work. I mmyself tried connecting the iPhone BT to other BT devices but the iPhone BT only connects to a headset device and nothing else. It does connect to my Garmin Nuvi, so i can answer the iPhone it when im driving around with that GPS device. This only makes it as an aswering BT headset-like device, it does not access the GPS function of the Garmin.

Ok i got this news maybe true and maybe not. I was browsing in lelong.com.my and saw this thread that sell unlock iphone for Rm 2999 for the 8GB package, and then at the bottom of the page, forummer can sms/call the seller and ask anything about the iphone prob such as the maxis call in prob. I msg him and ask everything about the iphone and all the problems that u guys had while using it and he says that the iphone is fully unlock where any telco network can be use and no problem or watsoever about the call in/sms in thingy. So i have the cash and i dont mind paying it but is it worth it if let say that they success solve the call in problem for maxis? Just wanna ask from u guys who already owner of an iphone..thanks!

P.S - The shop is in subang parade.

Doubtful. If everyone else already have a solution on Maxis, you'd see it here with that person excitedly claiming it. Why would the solution be this hush-hush, shady and that expensive too? Unlockers like these knew that the unlocking process is already free, therefore tries to stay one-up with the already available unlocking methods by claiming this and tries to make money with unsuspecting desperate users. Do not fall for this. I suggest waiting till the Maxis issue is resolved. Until then, the iPhone is slim enough to become an iPod Touch, while you still carry another cellphone with you. Dont pay unnecessarily for a solution that may be temporary.

I went on my stroll around Apple stores in KL yesterday, asking about the availability of the iPod Touch locally. Imagine my shock when i hear that there were local attempts of getting the iPhone through these local Apple Stores, but at exuberantly potong-leher chicken-farm slaughterhouse price of between RM3500....even RM4000! I was angry......and shakes my head in disbelief at how desperate these users are, and how easily they allow themselves to be taken advantage off , all in the name of getting an iPhone. We've already tolerated (read: forced to accept) a 22% price hike, under the excuse of government tax, shipping, etc , and now you even allow your neck at the end of a sharp slaught knife just so you can get an iPhone for yourself? shakehead.gif

I hope you're just kidding on the stand for the iPod Touch, coz simply DIYs can make stands for the iPhone as well, and looking mighty fine too. Phone stands from one of those cellphone booths , for example. I myself am using the stand that comes with the BT keyboard i had, that is also detachable. Or the Nokia 770 Internet tablet stand that i had back inside the box.

I'd still like the ability to answer calls while listening to the iPhone, so the earphones that comes with it, stays until a better solution arrives. Cllipping the iPhone out the holster every time, only increases the chance of scratching, or God forbid, a fall to the hard concrete floor.

You need to re-enable Youtube, once you've done the unlock. Search for "Pacay Youtube activator" on Google. It's a simple batch file.

If you're unable to access Youtube after you've done the Pacay activator, 2 possible reasons. You may be behind a firewall, blocking Youtube access, or the video you're accessing from Youtube, may not be playable on the Youtube applet on your iPhone. Try searching from within the Youtube applet in the iPhone, the search results that it returns are the Youtube videos you can view on your iPhone.

More importantly, how he does it, coz the swarming nest at Hackint0sh forum does not point towards this happening. And better make it fast, the news on the new firmware is that it's labelled 1.1.1, and that very same notated number spells LOCKOUT on the iPod Touch till now. You may get to use the phone within these calm before the storm period.

Also guys, NEVER restore from iTunes 7.4.2, that version bricked a few iPhones there at the Hackint0sh forum. If the need arises to do such restores, do it from version below that, which is the very reason im keeping my iTunes to 7.3.

Does anyone think the Michael Buble song from his 2006 album "Call Me Irresponsible", called "Everything", sorta describes your very own "relationship" with your iPhone? Take a gander at the lyrics, especially the bolded part....

"Everything"

You're a falling star, you're the get away car.
You're the line in the sand when I go too far.
You're the swimming pool, on an August day.
And you're the perfect thing to say.

And you play it coy, but it's kinda cute.
Ah, when you smile at me you know exactly what you do.
Baby don't pretend, that you don't know it's true.
Cause you can see it when I look at you.

[Chorus:]
And in this crazy life, and through these crazy times
It's you, it's you, you make me sing.
You're every line, you're every word, you're everything.

You're a carousel, you're a wishing well,
And you light me up, when you ring my bell.
You're a mystery, you're from outer space,
You're every minute of my everyday.

And I can't believe, uh that I'm your man,
And I get to kiss you baby just because I can.
Whatever comes our way, ah we'll see it through,
And you know that's what our love can do.

[Chorus:]
And in this crazy life, and through these crazy times
It's you, it's you, you make me sing
You're every line, you're every word, you're everything.

So, la, la, la, la, la, la, la
So, la, la, la, la, la, la, la

[Chorus:]
And in this crazy life, and through these crazy times
It's you, it's you, you make me sing.
You're every line, you're every word, you're everything.
You're every song, and I sing along.
'Cause you're my everything.
Yeah, yeah

So, la, la, la, la, la, la, la
So, la, la, la, la, la, la, la

The words....especially the last chorus....every line, every word = SMS/Mail/Safari, every song, i sing along = iPod. And my everything is well, self explanatory. biggrin.gif

Did he went through the multitouch-to-several-painful-clicks withdrawal syndrome? The human psyche fell victim to yet another disorder when yanked away from devices falling from Heaven, CrackBerry notwithstanding. laugh.gif
