i found some articles from net related to the maxis receive call problem:
************************ its all about the network not the sim card , there is conflict in edge and the incoming calls . the edge in zain/maxis use nom2 and the incoming calls in the iphone use nom1 ,you can check just do this : *3001#12345#* and pressing Call check this line : Tap GPRS Information. you'll find zain/maxis use nom2 ,and celcom/digi use nom1 (what iphone use) . someone can test this with maxis iphone pls? so zain/maxis should change the system from GPRS network to 3G network ,if we wanna use the iphone in zain/maxis . ***************************** I haven't been in the telecom field for a while now; but I remember than NOM (Network Operation Mode) refers to the GPRS Capabilities. NOM1: Mobile phones can have multiple packet/circuit connection; which allows the phone to recieve calls while using EDGE/GPRS. NOM2: Mobile phones can be 'attached' to the gprs network; but it can't recieve data and voice simultaneosly. NOM3: Mobile Phones can not have both services connected; it must be either data (packet) or voice (circuit). Applying the NOM theory to the logic of the iPhone not operating on the zain/maxis network: if we completely disable edge (or just stop using it), it should work. However, that isn't the case .. as the phone still won't recieve calls. This is also supported by the inability to recieve calls while having another line (its rings once then the call fails); since the initial calls holds the data on a nom2 network; the second call should be to come through. ******************************* iphone use nom1 and zain/maxis nom2 you can check it by : *3001#12345#* and check Tap GPRS info you'll find it nom2 , while wataniya use nom1 . tips: nom1 3G networks nom2 GPRS networks so if we want to the iphone on zain/maxis they should change the system network from GPRS to 3G. ************************************ FYI: zain is another telco in kuwait also having the same problem like Maxis: cannot receive call. not sure is the same problem like above or not This post has been edited by hokkianu: Sep 17 2007, 10:15 PM |

QUOTE(tarpaucase @ Sep 18 2007, 04:19 PM) This thread needs a sticky or something... agree man! stick it pls! It's working with Celcom and Digi. Maxis has call-in problem. Visual voicemail as far as I know doesn't work at all with hax0red versions. Aside from that everything else is just fine and dandy. Added on September 18, 2007, 6:12 pm QUOTE(wei @ Sep 18 2007, 04:22 PM) Can someone with SIM modding experience try to change the Maxis SIM from NOM2 to NOM1? any maxis ppl here? or anyone can inform maxis kaki?Want to verify this before move on the next step. "Good news for those who have spent long nights unlocking their iPhones (or been ripped off by some guy with a computer and credit card) only to find that they are unable to recieve calls on Zain. There were some compatibility issues between the iPhones and the celltowers (they work in certain areas). Zain has acknowledged the issue and has requested a software update to fix it. Everything should be working fine within the next ten days.
Many thanks to the Technical team at Zain for looking into the issue and resolving it." from http://k.thekuwaiti.com/ FYI: Zain one of the Kuwait's telco and Zain same like Maxis now, also facing the receive call problem in iphone. But their telco was working on it already. How about our Maxis? This post has been edited by hokkianu: Sep 19 2007, 10:40 PM |

QUOTE(zekrycortez @ Sep 21 2007, 04:28 AM) Ok i got this news maybe true and maybe not. I was browsing in lelong.com.my and saw this thread that sell unlock iphone for Rm 2999 for the 8GB package, and then at the bottom of the page, forummer can sms/call the seller and ask anything about the iphone prob such as the maxis call in prob. I msg him and ask everything about the iphone and all the problems that u guys had while using it and he says that the iphone is fully unlock where any telco network can be use and no problem or watsoever about the call in/sms in thingy. So i have the cash and i dont mind paying it but is it worth it if let say that they success solve the call in problem for maxis? Just wanna ask from u guys who already owner of an iphone..thanks! brother .... 讲多无谓。。。吃多会挤P.S - The shop is in subang parade. lets go to their shop and test out the iphone with maxis call in function ler ... easier Added on September 21, 2007, 9:52 am QUOTE(tishaban @ Sep 21 2007, 05:39 AM) Way way too expensive, his cost today can be as low as RM1700 or even lower depending on how he got the phone. Don't be so gullible or willing to trust a phone salesperson on lelong. My guess is this is the pre-price drop phone and he has no way to get the $100 credit offered by Apple RM1700!? where? now I already appointed three persons from lowyat.net just to help me to get the iphone, but after two weeks still no one have the stock ler This post has been edited by hokkianu: Sep 21 2007, 09:52 AM |

QUOTE(ivantheterrible @ Sep 23 2007, 06:20 PM) Maxis APN EDGE Settings both also try already ... still cannot use the gprs ler .... If your SIM has been activated for 3G APN - unet User - maxis password - wap If your SIM has been activated for GPRS APN - net User - maxis password - wap Your SIM must be activated for either GPRS or 3G help Added on September 23, 2007, 10:12 pm QUOTE(tarpaucase @ Sep 23 2007, 11:30 AM) Added on September 23, 2007, 12:00 pmI think Maxis ought to get their act together with regards to the call-in issue. Kuwait's ZAIN managed to resolve it within like 24 hours or so according to these blogs? It also might be linked to the fact that Maxis's EDGE network is operating on NOM2 rather than NOM1.. something about an established data network will make your line useless ..cannot call in. http://k.thekuwaiti.com/index.php/2007/09/...phone/#comments Hey wei.. any news from the maxis guy? Since it's sunday.. I don't expect miracles..heh. Probably updating tower firmwares and all that might require applying for permissions, etc etc... Added on September 23, 2007, 1:43 pmHey.. SMS in works from maxis to maxis btw. Just received and sms from my friend... and I paired the iphone with a sony ericsson HBH-610 bluetooth headset withour any problems - for those who's been wondering. bluetooth, i only can paired with my motorola handfree ... then cant send things to another phone via bluetooth This post has been edited by hokkianu: Sep 23 2007, 10:12 PM |

QUOTE(wei @ Sep 24 2007, 04:26 PM) Well, as a service provider, I hope they know what they're doing. If they think I'm just one customer & don't give shit about it. Very well, they don't deserve my money. And to be sure, once I shift telco, it's gonna be a few line together (family & close friend). agree ... me too here ... And it might affect more if the bad reputation spread out in my community. |

QUOTE(wei @ Oct 3 2007, 09:08 AM) updates for Maxis thanks for the updates! The last call summary: - Maxis spoken to Apple Malaysia asked for iPhone test unit(s). Apple Malaysia refuse to help. Their reason is it's not launch here. - Maxis have no choice but to get ppl bring in hacked iPhones. - Their iPhones are yet to arrive. (supposed to be these 2 days). - They aware the problem. - They received many complains. - The technical department are waiting for the iPhone now. - Also inform them on the issue happened in Kuwait, emailed the details to them. - Most part of KL are using Siemen/Nokia hardware, but certain part of Subang Jaya are using Ericsson. - The theory now is, if it is Siemen/Nokia hardware issue, then it might work with the Ericsson towers in Subang Jaya. Maybe someone can try around in Subang Jaya? If it is not working still. Then the problem might not be the Siemen/Nokia hardware. even we also got the iphone, maxis still dont have the iphone .... wat a outdated telco |
