Hey guys,
i already got 512MB in 1 of the slot. can i add another 1GB into the other slot? which means 512MB+1GB. is it ok? or do i hv to put in the same one i.e 512+512 @ 1GB+1GB.
Which brand can we use to upgrade the ram? corsair, kingston, mushkin...? all of the brand compatible with hp/compaq laptop?

i suppose. newer V3000 has better compatibility with new rams... probably the first generation of V3000 has issues with different types. but i would recommend kingston for compatibility.

hi ... new user here .. just bought V3201TU last monday ... its with Intel Core Duo processor .... and upgrade to 2GB ram ..
sorry if I asked this question again ... coz i still didnt finish reading this 100 over pages on this thread .. this v3201 bios F.26 didnt have any option for setting the video memory allocation .. and it only says the max memory can go is until 128 mb in windows xp.. but in windows xp itself.. it can only detect until 32mb only ... i called hp for some help...and they said intel will allocate the extra memory automatically to the software ..
but i tried to install a program called Yodm3D ... its a desktop visualizer software ... and when i try to install it .. it give an error says my video memory is not enough ...
so do any of you guys here know how to increase the video memory since there is no setting for it in bios...
and .. how do you guys deal with the heat at the left hand side of the palm rest ... since the hard disk is located directly below it. so uncomfortable when typing.

QUOTE(raoul @ May 28 2007, 03:26 PM) For any new expensive product, all of us should be scared if send back to service centre But in your case, since it's not a software issue but hardware issue, you have no choice but to send back to them (maybe some parts or wiring lose inside your notebook). Got it back today. They changed my system board. Hurrah! Anyway, I don't know if it's working perfectly yet or not but I can say one thing. It's better than my new Dell XPS M1210... it played the DVD that I couldn't play on my DELL! and I thought it was just a fluke so I tested it again and it picked off where I left off! Now that's good... plus it's got a solid body.. So far... my Dell wobbles and the DVD-RW can't play DVDs properly... it whirrs and wheezes and hangs... very pathetic... I'm getting a new replacement unit for my M1210 tomorrow so we'll see if the DVDRW still gives problems. If it does I'm going to demand for a full refund (maybe get an ACER) ... the DELL experience for me so far has been quite bad.

but the left side of my compaq seems to burn up quite fast ... that's where the HDD is located I think... yesterday when I was using it, that part was extremely hot.
Should I send it back to the service centre or is this expected? I don't recall it being this hot before.
