When I was buying my laptop, other people were buying other specs laptops but my laptop (V3204TU) was the only one with no problems compared to the others who bought the other V3000 series... somehow they had problems with drivers - no sound lah, etc etc...

apparently they are installed with new chipsets that are vista enabled ors omething...so old drivers might now work and the site hasn't updated with the new ones yet.

Hi everyone,

I got a V3204TU model in January 2007 and it was working fine until recently when the sound started giving problems. When you tilted it in a certain way, there'd be no sound and if you adjusted the lcd, the sound comes back but later on, we discovered that if you rested your wrist on the right side of the laptop, the sound would go off and if you lifted your wrist up and put it back there, the sound would come back on. A bit strange.

Sent it to the service centre and obviously, the sound had to work perfectly. Anyway, they've listed my problem as "intermittent sound issues". Hopefully they find out what's wrong.

I'm scared of sending my computer to the service centre. Not sure if it's going to come back more spoilt or what.

For any new expensive product, all of us should be scared if send back to service centre  ohmy.gif
But in your case, since it's not a software issue but hardware issue, you have no choice but to send back to them (maybe some parts or wiring lose inside your notebook).

Got it back today. They changed my system board. Hurrah!

Anyway, I don't know if it's working perfectly yet or not but I can say one thing. It's better than my new Dell XPS M1210... it played the DVD that I couldn't play on my DELL! and I thought it was just a fluke so I tested it again and it picked off where I left off! Now that's good... plus it's got a solid body..

So far... my Dell wobbles and the DVD-RW can't play DVDs properly... it whirrs and wheezes and hangs... very pathetic... I'm getting a new replacement unit for my M1210 tomorrow so we'll see if the DVDRW still gives problems. If it does I'm going to demand for a full refund (maybe get an ACER) ... the DELL experience for me so far has been quite bad.

but the left side of my compaq seems to burn up quite fast ... that's where the HDD is located I think... yesterday when I was using it, that part was extremely hot.

Should I send it back to the service centre or is this expected? I don't recall it being this hot before.
